After he suffered a third significant injury in just over one year in the NFL, the Denver Broncos waived 2008 fifth-round draft pick running back Ryan Torain on Wednesday.

Torain was highly touted for his talent, but even in college suffered from multiple production-hampering injuries. As a rookie in 2008, he missed the first seven of the season with a dislocated elbow, played in two games (one start), then missed the rest of his rookie year with a torn left ACL.

Torain had been participating in nearly every training camp practice this year until tests Wednesday revealed a PCL tear in his left knee that would sideline him through the preseason.

The Broncos signed RB Marcus Thomas to fill Torain’s spot.

It’s a shame – Torain is a real talent who just couldn’t stay healthy. I’m hoping his luck – and health – turns for the better wherever he ends up.

This is to bad! He never really got a chance to showcase his talent and power at the RB position. I don’t know if he would have made the final roster this year but I wish him the best of luck!

    GO BRONCOS!

He never got a chance because he got hurt every training camp and opportunity he got he was injury prone and college and Mike Shannahan magically thought he would be healthier

That’s a damned shame. Feel sorry for Torain and hope that better thing lay ahead for him.

Although it is a shame… think positive. More touches for P. Hillis.

Where’s Kerry? I just gotta know how he feels about this.

Torain was a heck of a talent and with coaching could have been pretty good. It’s too bad that he couldn’t stay healthy enough to do it. I know what that’s like and it sucks. Here’s hoping he lands squarely on his feet (without breaking them).

It is a shame but Shanahan developed a habit of drafting bargain basement players and signing free agent risks with injury or character issues, and then hoping it would work out. Ryan Torain should never have been drafted any more than they should have signed Simeon Rice.

Too bad. From what I read and saw he was a decent guy. Hopefully he is prepared for life after football, which is coming much too soon.

    Good luck Ryan.

its such a shame that Terrell Davis the second was injured and released. even though i said this would happen months ahead of time. but hey what do i know right?

Torain is a great back and i was looking forward to see him healthy! Damn what a loss to Denver but we can look forward to Buckhalter and Rookie Moreno… Please tell Orton to take a seat and watch Sims for a while! I am looking forward to a great season.
