As has been rumored for some time now, the NFL is moving the NFL Draft to a three-day, Thursday-Saturday evening event starting in 2010. Round One will be held on Thursday beginning at 7:30pm; Rounds 2-3 will be held on Friday starting at 6:30pm, and the final rounds 4-7 will be held Saturday starting at 10am.

ESPN and the NFL Network will continue to provide television coverage for the event. The 2010 NFL Draft is scheduled for April 22-24.

What do you think of the move, Broncos fans? Personally, I hate it. The draft drags on enough already, not to mention that the Thursday event will be cutting it close for the Pacific time zone fans getting off work later.

I hate it as well. The draft was perfect when it started at noon eastern on saturday. It made for a day you could plan around in the spring, maybe even break out the bbq grill. I don’t even like the games being on late, let alone the draft. I will be watching less of the draft now.

i dont like the move either… i think that the nfl will end up seeing a decline in viewers as a result of this move… they forget that the fans who watch the draft with the most interest are probably the same folks who have families and will have other plans at least one of the nights…

the draft was great starting on a saturday, you told your wife not to bother you and you’d fire up the bbq right after your team picked in the third round and put on dinner. i actually liked it that it was a marathon going from rd 1 to 3.

    19:30 EST + 5 = 00:30 GMT

not a great move as far as I’m concerned. And 16:30 start on the West Coast?

I live in Denver, so I don’t mind.

I don’t mind this either being in MST, but I do think a Sat, Sun, Mon setup would make much more sense. I think their ratings will drop as well because of this. I like the 3 day idea, they just picked wierd days IMO.

This sucks… the first rd is on a week night! For years me and some buddies have had draft day parties. Fill up a cooler of beer and fire up the grill. This is the only thing to look forward to as soon as the SB ends. It was an all day event on saturday. It was managable to get saturday free and catch as much of day 2 (late rounds) as possible on sunday. This change makes it less of an event… Bad move.
