Brandon Marshall

At the red carpet of the ESPY Awards, Denver Broncos wide receiver told reporters that he will report for training camp. Per PFT, “Right now I’m obligated, I’m under contract…. It’s $14,000 a day if I miss,” Marshall said. “I’m not stupid. So I will be there.”

Marshall had implied he would hold out since asking to be traded in June. He is entering the final year of his rookie contract after making the Pro Bowl for the first time last season.

Marshall doesn’t have a lot of options; he knows this and knows he has to report to camp to keep his options open. Now let’s see if the Broncos react favorably to Marshall’s favorable reaction.

Wow finally something good this offseason

  • TJ

    Give em hell B- Marsh!!

  • http://Broncotalk.net Joe

He will be on NFL total access tonight so we will see what he says than

  • http://broncotalk.net Ian Henson

Brandon Marshall is no dummy =P

  • kerry

Marshall doesnt sound like he wants to be there. did any of you actually watch the interview? i did and he said im obligated so ill be there so i will. that isnt a man who is excited about playing but simply will report so he wont lose money.

No S*it Kerry. Not many people go up to the boss and ask to get traded and then get excited to come to work. He knows that holding out is expensive and would only further ruin his diminishing reputation.

If u actually watched this interview it was a lot ore promising than the quote on the article

    In honor of MJ_

“I’ll be there, I’ll be there”

Listen this isn’t the first or last prima donna WR. I seem to remember Moss being quite a thorn and with a little discipline, coaching, and winning he is a valuable member of society.

    Marshall welcome back bro.

  • http://Broncotalk.net Joe

Ya of Course he is not going to be happy right now. That’s a given. But at least he is going and maybe Denver will reward him now or tell him after this season he will get a fat contract. Than he will be happy to go to work for us

  • anthony33

I still say if the Broncos get the right deal, dump him. Seems like they have learned from the Cutler saga and are not jumping the gun. You have think they have been contacted and offered a wide variety of deals, but they are being patient and standing pat until the right deal comes along. If the right thing does not come along you still have a pro bowl (happy or not) receiver.

Sorry, but BM is just an idiot. He and his agent are the modern day version of dumb and dumber.

  • Pat

This asshole was on Nfl Total Access and seemed as if he never wanted to play for the broncos again. I say we get rid of him for anything. I am a broncos fan and will never cheer for an individual. If he wants out get rid of him. Royal is a qualified number 1 receiver. look at his game against oakland. Marshall have fun beating up girls in Detroit you loser

  • anthony33

“I’m not stupid. So I will be there”.

Uh Brandon, note from the real world…you are stupid.

  • Anthony

    extend his damn contract already

  • kerry

yeah Brandon sure wants to be here. PFFFFFTTTTT. he was so non-commital about playing for the Broncos he might as well have demanded another trade right then and there. all of you wake up! this guy doesnt wanna be here, he knows his numbers will drop because he has a WAY INFERIOR QB throwing to him, and he doesnt trust the coach or the training staff. check this out:

    http://blogs.nfl.com/2009/07/16/players-media-have-trust-issues-with-mcdaniels/

some actual truth and NON FLUFF piece was written about whats going on.

  • http://Broncotalk.net Joe

Kerry- he might want a trade because be feels that his numbers will go down
But how does he know if he will be traded to a team
With a good an or not? He doesn’t have a choice of who he gets traded to.

  • http://Broncotalk.net Joe

    *good QB or not?*

  • kerry

    Joe:

True, but he also doesnt trust McDaniels or the training staff. so really its a combination of things that he wants to be traded for.

  • http://Broncotalk.net Joe

Kerry- ya I agree. But Denver knows we need him and he knows that he needs Denver. No one else is going to put up with all of his shit like Denver does. So how do you see this problem being solved?

  • mr. me

pay him keep him THE END — we all sleep happy in our beds

  • mr. me

know how all this coulda never happend? when MCD came 2 down he coulda said hey i’ll kiss up 2 our two greatest players who held our team together and made the pro bowl by giving each 5 year nice contracts! but no he says im in charge no money 4 u jay (jay never asked for more(that i know of)but he coulda buttered him up with money) and then go to marsh and say love ya buddy, here’s some cash 4 bein like T.O. [on the field – john lynch said he was]

BOOM never happened players get paid evybody happy THE END– we all sleep happy in our beds

  • kerry

    Joe:

i see this ending one way, this is all gonna end up like Chad Johnson’s situation in Cincy last year. Chad did the same thing and bitched and pissed and moaned about a contract, showed up knowing he had no leverage, and then went on to having a dreadful season, worst since his rookie year. thats what i think will happen.

his numbers will diminish because A. our QB is way inferior. B. Marshall wont have his whole heart and head in the game. and C. he has already missed alot of preparation and wont be fully up to speed on the playbook when the season rolls around. plus how is his hip gonna respond? he also moe then likely will be suspended this year for his pending legal issue so he may not be here mid season anyway. there are just WAY TOO many problems and question marks. ill bet anything McDaniels would dump this guy for less then a first rounder if he had the chance. a 2nd rounder and a player im sure McDaniels would do that deal.

  • anthony33

    kerry,
I agee with most of what you say above and if they do dump him for a reasonable return I would consider that a good move.

This guy just feels bad to the core and that’s not going to change. Heck, even his picture at the top of this post looks like a mug shot. Uhhh…it probably is a mug shot, I’m sure there are many to choose from. Problem is I don’t think there’s a team out there dumb enough to offer a good deal. I think we are going to have to wait three of four games into the season when someone goes down and that team gets anxious.
