Denver Broncos wide receiver Brandon Marshall is keeping busy while he’s away from Denver, working out with Arizona Cardinals wideout Larry Fitzgerald in Orlando Minnesota and preparing for the 2009 season. Yahoo! Sports caught up with the disgruntled Pro Bowler and asked about his future with the Broncos.

“I ain’t worrying about that right now,” Marshall said, “and I ain’t going to talk about that.” …

When asked if he plans to report to the team’s training camp on July 30, Marshall said, “Well, I’m under contract with the Broncos.”

Is this an indication that Marshall will indeed report for camp rather than holding out while waiting for a trade or new contract? Perhaps. It’s tough to read between the lines, but Marshall’s matter-of-fact “I’m under contract” response seems to indicate that the 4th-year player isn’t interested in being a distraction. “You don’t ever want to be that,” he said.

Meanwhile, Fitzgerald posted an update on his twitter account last week about Marshall: “I have news on brandon marshall & what his plans r this season but i cant say! lol” (sic).

It’s great that Marshall is working out, and you can tell from the Y! Sports article he’s hungry. The possibility that #15 remains in Denver in 2009 is still very real; I’m hopeful he’ll report to camp, keep his nose clean, and work out a contract with the team that drafted him before the 2010 offseason.

I like that hes working out with the best, it can only make him better. Larry Fitz is a consumate pro. He is the NFLs golden boy for recievers. Hopefully some of that rubs off on Marshall.

  • http://broncotalk.net Kyle

Did you read the article? Marshall was 20 yards behind Fitz during every one of their 110-yard dashes. Incredible. And Fitz, being the super-humble super-receiver he is, made sure to mention that BMarsh is recovering from surgery.

And I’m not criticizing Marshall. I love that he’s the one admitting and recognizing it and trying to get better.

  • DC

    *consummate
Yeah, it doesn’t worry me. He is still recovering. What does worry me is how Bmarsh said he was better now than he was at the start of last season (this was in some interview.) I don’t know if he was blowing smoke up the interviewers arce or what. But Fitz is a lot faster than bmarsh anyway. He probably would beat him by 10 yards on a good day.

  • GRINGO-DANCER

Looks as if Marshall is begining to see who is in charge. The man that has the choice to give him a pay check or not. He can hold out and see who wants to pick him up running 20 yards behind Fitz. Would not have let that cat out of the bag.

wow! this is good – i think? hope…
    i really wanna keep him

  • phill

Dude, Broncos are under the radar. We are going to take people by surprise!!

  • phill

Marshall is going to play next year and have a great season. He is going to flourish in this offense. And after next year if he still wants out, we should put the franchise tag on him and trade him for a 1st rounder or second rounder. If we have 2 1st rounders again next year or even an extra 2nd, we are in great shape to trade picks for talent or just draft well again.
For all the hate on McD, his over all understanding of on the field coach is going to be great to watch. He will learn to be a better locker room coach with time.

  • http://Broncotalk.net Joe

Marshall will be traded to the ravens because of derrick mason retiring so they will give up a first rounder for him and our dumb coach will take that offer. You guys will see. And don’t get me wrong I love bmarsh and want him to stay. I just don’t see it happening

  • phill

I like B Marsh too but he did this to himself. If he had no off field issues, Broncos would have already gave him a new contract. By the way, the Bronco organization has completely stood behind him through all of that junk but he wants out cause of cry baby Cutler. If Baltimore really wants him than we need to ask for a 1st and a third. See how desperate they are

  • http://broncotalk.net Ian Henson

Marshall’s scouting reports coming out of college had him listed as slow. That’s what likely one of the contributing factors that kept him so late in the draft.

  • IWILLX2

I believe B.Marsh really does want to stay in Denver. He knows how J.Mcdaniels can help him flourish in the offense that’s being installed in Denver. He knows that he will be counted on as R.Moss was in New England. He will put up huge numbers this year and I do believe him when he (b.Marshall) says that he is better now than he was last year. He was playing with injuries the whole year. He is a BEAST and WILL DOMINATE this year. I am telling you now OUR (DENVERS) offense AND (DEFENSE) will be very good this year. We are going to surprise every-one. We will be taken lightly and underestimated. We WILL take advantage of that. J.McDaniels is a very smart guy, He knows what he is doing. He does have a plan and he is getting the pieces of the puzzle needed to implement his plan. It will be at full speed in a year or two watch and see. We will be the team to beat in the A.F.C. You heard it from me first IWILLX2.

  • stav

I don’t know about all that, but I think he’ll be getting a raise/extension. I just think they’re going to tell him to play out this year and he’ll get the big contract for next year as not to show the other players that they can take the team hostage and that patience pays off. But who knows, now that Derick Mason retired Baltimore has nothing in the way of receivers, they may call with an overwhelming offer.

  • Estes2SD

The most suprising thing about this article is the fact a class act like Fitz wants to be in the same company as Marshall. Hopefully he is his baby sitter as well as a work out buddy.

  • Roy

He will be on the field this year because I think he is starting to realize that is the only way he is going to see $$. On a seperate note, does anyone else wonder what world Marshall is living in? Especially after he said “You don’t ever want to be that,”regarding being a distraction to his teammates. That’s right BMarsh, you were the only one not at OTA’s and publicly demanded a trade, you are not a distraction at all.

  • kerry

can we just have Larry Fitzgerald instead?

  • mr. me

LMBO jchase8410, sorry dude didnt think it was that big a deal lol u can have the next one! (maybe lol if i dont beat u too it)

  • robtink242

i really dont think he’s going anywhere. what i do like is the fact that he is surrounding himself with greatness. you shouldnt go wrong from there

  • mr. me

wow the broncos r adding indignity to insult to injury to marsh they want him 2 show up 3 days early 4 camp! cuz he hurt… and the fines will be BIG if he dont show

  • http://broncotalk.net (dee)

He’s showing up 3 days earlier on the 27th of July … because of orders from King McD …

  • skitz

he sounds like yet another ego maniacal overpayed crybaby athlete without loyalty. it doesn’t sound like his heart is even remotely orange and blue and i doubt he will play to his full potential due to that. trade him and get someone who wants to be there

  • http://Broncotalk.net Joe

Brandon is going to be on NFL Total Access tonight. It should be interesting to see what he says.
