ESPN’s Todd McShay is reporting that he has inside sources saying that Denver is not interested in packaging together multiple picks to move up in this year’s draft to select USC QB Mark Sanchez.  This being reported very shortly after GM Brian Xanders and Offensive Coordinator Mike McCoy visited Los Angeles to workout Sanchez at his former high school.  The duo had Mark run through an inpromtu Xs and Os study, breaking down gameday situations along with throwing to a group of receivers who showed up for the workout as a favor to Sanchez.

so they’re absolutely positively 100% not moving up? Well thats that sorted. No one ever misleads anyone over the draft.

I think they could still move up, just not to select Sanchez.

best news I’ve heard in a while

  • milehighs

Mike Shannahan will start coaching the bears next year.He is going to finish what he started.Wich is grooming Jay Cutler.I think they pland this from the very start after the firing.

  • Plato

    milehighs,

The likeliness of Jay Cutler and Mike Shanahan planning a reunion is the same as someone planning your education.

  • BroncosT!LL!D!3

Let me help u out with that one “milehighs” there is a 0% chance.

I think somebody is “miles-high.” Either that or brain damaged.

    milehighs

I wonder who groomed ****** in drinking?

****** heed my warning, excessive drinking kills valuable brain cells you need in life, please refer to “milehighs” if you need an example to scare you straight.

AH Crap, I’m sorry Milehigh’s I said I would ingore you and still took a shot. I’m sorry it won’t happen again.

As to the post, I think for most savy GM’s this story doesn’t hold alot of water, all team’s are putting up smoke screens and basically lying to everyone about their draft strategies. I think this is a ploy by ESPN to give McShay more facetime.

    McShay’s “source” is Jim Goodman.

    Another Theory –

Maybe Denver believes that Sanchez will fall to them at 12 anyways? In that case why move up when you think no one else is going to take him. If that is the case I would be happy they didnt waste picks to move up, but pissed that they used 12 for a QB who may not have any contributions this season.

I’d move up to get Raji , if Green Bay Targets him at 9. Or if they are really sold on Tyson Jackson … but I still think he could fall to us at 12. Orakpo is also interesting, some mocks have him going at 11 to Buffalo , he looks like a beast but I wonder if he will play like one at the next level?.

My first choice is Raji, and then I’m divided between Orakpo or Jackson.

Jackson maybe the safer pick to not flame out, from all reports he could make an instant impact on the line. But with forcasting players in their early 20’s its such a crap shoot nothing is certain.

Anyone know anything on Robert Ayers , I’m hearing alot of good things but is this guy the real deal? I’m never seen him play.

Watched the Bears Vikings game on NFL Network a few days ago and Orton seemed fine. Didn’t blow me away but had a few lazers and seemed in control of the game. Orton has one year to do something and then we can think of something else, don’t see how we could waste even the #12 on Sanchez. I will leave it up to the (supposed offensive talent system) genius of McD…… Big Saturday coming up, I am getting a Keg and am going to yell at the screen all weekend.

  • (stuck in) raiderland

Sanchez is a terrible idea for the Broncos. Stay away from the dude. Draft defense!!!

  • kerry

good. stay away from the bum. he is way overhyped. if we move up its for Raji. we can trade our 12th and a third rounder to move to 8 ahead of Green Bay to get Raji. but i still dont wanna move up. we can get great value at 12 in Jackson.

  • robtink242

i have no problem drafting Sanchez at 12 no higher. jackson will still be available at 18.

  • http://myspace.com/paraleipsis jchase8410

I told my wife yesterday that I am booked for the weekend…at least day 1 of the draft. There will be no moving up to get Sanchez. I think he will be a good QB in the NFL, but not as a Bronco.

I saw a mock yesterday that had Cleveland taking Raji at 5, but if they are planning on keeping Shaun Rogers (?) then that pick doesn’t make a lot of sense. Then again, this is the NFL draft, and ANYTHING can happen.

Focus on the defensive trench warriors on the first day, and Denver could surprise some people this year.

  • ryan

I know the debate is fun but I think this is pretty simple. Stay at 12 and your almost guaranteed to get Sanchez, Raji, or Jackson. Sounds like a win, win, win to me.

Then at 18 pick up a rusher like English or Brown and you have come out a much better team than the start of the day.

  • the decider13

I’m with Kerry and Ryan…I have supported both of those options. But the last thing I would want is a trade up for Sanchez.

  • milehighs

That pinch a nerv.lol that was werth it.

    God bless you guys.

    u get em mh!

  • Riverscanbl&wme

Yep, a rookie QB is exactly what this team needs. Wait. . . no crap it needs help everywhere on defense. Remember next year we have two number one’s again. There will be plenty of guys overhyped in next year’s quarterback class. Stars and depth on D should be the focus of this draft.

  • Anthony33

A stout nose tackle in a 3-4 defense is as important as a great left tackle to having a solid offensive (see Ryan Clady and Jake Long).

They need to figure out a way to get Raji…period.

  • http://myspace.com/paraleipsis jchase8410

If they don’t get Raji, they could take Jackson, move down from 18 and get Brace early in the second round. If not, Sammie Lee Hill will be available in a later round. Hill is by no means an Elite tackle, but he has good size and strength to stop the run or so I have read. I wouldn’t want to say something that someone else has said at some point nd have that thrown at me (roshon)

  • BroncoinVA9986

Jay Cutler and Mike could reunite….but I doubt it and they didn’t plan it….I think Mike takes a couple years off

  • MILehighs

HOW IN THE HELL DO YOU TRADE #1 PICK IN NEXT YEARS DRAFT FOR A 2ND ROUND PICK.THAT IS SO STUPID.WHEN I THIINK MC. DANIELS IS AS STUPID AS IT GETS.HE COME OUT AND SHOWS ME SOME MORE OF A JACKASS THEN I THOUGHT.
THAT FIRST ROUND PICK WAS GOING TO BE TOP FIVE PICK NEXT YEAR BECAUSE THE BRONCOS ARE GOING TO SUCK AS THIS YEAR.

    DENVER IDIOT BRONCOS.
