Jay Cutler Traded to Bears

The Denver Broncos have agreed to trade Jay Cutler to the Chicago Bears.

In return, the Broncos acquired quarterback Kyle Orton, two first-round draft picks (18th overall in 2009 and their 2010 first round pick), and a third-round pick. The Broncos also included a fifth-round pick in the deal.

    this could quite possibly be the worst trade of all time, orton sucks, i know we had to get rid of cutler but why the hell would you send one of the best quarterbacks in the league for a rex (shitty excuse for a qb) grossman backup? were just gonna pay orton to sit on the bench, he is worthless and he will never amount to anything, great job mcdooshnozzle, we won’t win a single game with orton and his shitty arm running the offense, i hope we start simms and that mcdaniels finally makes a good team decision and kills himself

    Well if MacDaniels can make Cassel look good maybe he can help Orton become better. I’m willing to give him a chance. With those picks they could fix there defense and get a young QB to be groomed by MacDaniels, I can warm up to this trade!! I like Reich’s idea of hoping Raji falls because of his drug test failure to the 12th pick and then draft Cushing with the 18 th pick. I will die a bronco fan so I will back them up no matter what !!! GO BRONCOS!!!!!

    I’m glad this is over, lets move forward. Kerry I like the draft picks in the deal, considering the most recent update states we didnt give up any picks.

    Kyle Orton is not the answer I agree, but he’ll be gone when his contract expires … perhaps we draft Sanchez now?

    Did anyone read Jay Cutler’s father’s comments about this being the “happiest day of his life?” …. Screw Jay Cutler , Bus Cook, and his parents … lets move forward with the DENVER BRONCOS we have now … I’m beginning to hate talking about the prick.

    By the way , I think its an ok deal .. I like the 3rd round pick thrown in. Long term I think we will come out on top. Good luck playing in Chicago Jay , that’s where QB careers go to die ..lol

    we were never getting equal value back so this looks like a pretty good deal considering the bounty we got. Dove Valley needed this, now we can get down to business which is what they really needed, no distractions, no more pr bullshit, no more he said/she said (Bus/Cutler), just focus for 2009. Whoever wants to hop off the Denver wagon over this, go ahead, I’m not, time to move on.

    Cutler was worth more than this. I am also not happy to see Cutler get what he wants. I wanted him to land in Detroit and suffer. I hate to say it but the Broncos are now a bad team without a face.

    i live in phila. i have been a bronco fan since the 70s when i was 9 because of that orange crush defense. i suffered thru all 4 loses and the teasing i got because they got blown out by the 3 nfc east teams and i live in a place where there’s plenty of those fans. elway got so much crap thru the years and once he got a coach that put a rb and a defense behind him he won 2 bowls. who does josh mdaniels think he is? all of the belichek disciples have been fired. pioli has put all his egss in cassel who played good with a super bowl team around him. the bears will probably make the playoffs next year. we will not sniff the playoffs for years. after those draft picks are cut at the end of the 2010 season and we are stuck with a stable of backup qb’s,what will happen then? we will become the detroit lions! i pay way over my budget to get sunday ticket and put up with directv’s crappy signal just so i can see the broncos every sunday. I WILL NOT DO THAT THIS YEAR! BOWLEN, THIS SEASON U BROKE MY HEART!

    Cutlwerwon’t do much better in Chicago. Their offensive line dosen’t even compare to Denver’s. It’s hard to throw the ball when you are always on your back!!!

    I know you pissed about it , but I think long term we will win out in this deal. We need help on defense and we will be able to get it this draft. The QB situation , I’d go with Simms and see how things go, Orton is ok I guess.

    This might help the Bears? But consider this they’re crap OFFENSIVE LINE, they CRAP WIDE RECEIVERS, and I believe their defense is in a major decline. The Bears have sold their future for Cutler, it won’t work … we’ll have a top 10 pick from them next year.

    Where is the downside? Cutler was not coming back everyone needs to come to terms with that, maybe the initial shock of it happening has everyone pissed but come on who was everyone expecting to come back ? The majority of what we got was going to be draft picks. Most Analysts also agree the Bears gave up alot to get him.

    before everyone bashes orton… i have to say i watched him at purdue and liked him there…lets look at some numebers from last year (orton played 1 fewer game than cutler):

    completion %: orton 58.5 cutler 62.3 (only a 3.8% difference- whats that like one pass per game less?)

    TD:INT : orton 18:12 (.66) cutler 25:18 (.72)

    comp/attempt/yds: orton 272/465/2972 cutler 384/616/4526 (cutler has more passing attempts, but one more game)

    qb rating: orton 79.6 cutler 86 (honestly i was expecting a much bigger gap here)

    now take into consideration that cutler had brandon marshall, eddie royal, stoke and scheff. orton had devin hester, greg olson, desmond clark and brandon lloyd to pass to. i think that you can make an arguement that better recievers will make up some of (and possibly all) the ground between the relatively small gaps in orton vs cutler stats….

    it will be interesting to see what chicago does with their recieving corps- imo, they are in rough shape now. they better draft or trade for some recievers or cutler is going to have a rough time next year.

    Kerry is a good guy, he is just passionate about his Broncos … I get that way too, but this whole Cutler situation had me so pissed that I wanted it over… and I think enough back. How many picks do we have this year now? 10 or 11?

    We are going to have to use both #1’s (12 and 18) to trade up for Sanchez, don’t get a first round defender and then what? We traded our star QB and now have 3 loser/questionable QB’s and no better D.

    franchise qb’s don’t grow on trees. kyle orton is a backup qb. trading cutler did not make that horrible defense better. they signed dawkins and i live in philly and know what kind of player he WAS! this of line is not that great. we have a stable of backup rb’s! when orton overthrows brandon marshall next season, ur really going to hear some crying! he’s TO jr.! what kind of identity does this team have?

    all are of you serious?? we get rid of cutler for a backup and draft picks and that is good?? am i in the fucking twilight zone?!? number 2 offense with 7 RB’s on IR. we get a power runner and fix the defense with cutler at the helm and we are contending every year. now we are set back 5 years. sorry i cant be happy after getting rid of the best young QB for a backup and draft picks. we had 9 picks WITHOUT getting rid of Cutler. god damn are you people serious??!!

    GOOD! I’m glad it’s over. Best of luck to Jay trying to play in that place. The asking price was two first rounders, we got that and a third. Orton has my vote due to the fact he had crap to work with on offense there and now has a ton of weapons. I don’t think we take a QB in the first two rounds but maybe look at John Parker Wilson in the third or fourth. I bet we land Raji with the 12th due to the drug thing.

    I hate McDaniels and Bowlen. We just got screwed. What do you expected with a GM like Xanders. I really can’t believe that was the best that was out there with all the teams that had interest in Cutler. Well I guess I have to retire Cutlers jersey right next to my Jake Plummer jersey.     I Love the Broncos, but there’s a part of me that want McDaniels to fail. I wish Bowlen would have given the Coaching job to Jim Bates the QB coach. He is young and mentored under Shanny. Then you get a vet Defensive coach to overhaul the D and we’re back in business.

    as a die hard boltsfan i ve been interested in our closest divisional rival. after today i going to have to pay attention to the raiders from now on haha..

    as a realist i realize we have our share of problems: wishing lt was 3 yrs younger; help @ rt,s,ilb.. but we do get merriman juice or no juice. i ll take our problems over the broncos anyday.

    okay.. after the shock and awe I had from this announcement I have regroup…

    Kyle Orton.. is well.. Kyle Orton, but he is just as or more proven than any other active NFL QB that had been discussed (Quinn, Lienhart, Garcia, etc)..

    He will be the QB next year, and with 4 first round picks the next few years, if Sanchez or Freeman isnt drafted this year.. they will take thier chances next year…

    and Hey, if they suck bad enough.. they can get Sam Bradford next season ;)

    McDaniels apparently likes Sanchez a lot. McDaniels and Mike McCoy are the top two best judge of QBs, lets they’re right this time.

    I don’t exactly like this, but it’s still a whole lot, and the poison is gone from the team. This move will allow the defense to be resurrected if picked right.

    I don’t mind this trade. We get rid of someone that does not want to be here, and get a QB in return plus picks. If Orton does not work out, we have two 1st rd picks next year when there is a better group of QB’s coming out.

    I’m with you Sox bigdog,once I got over the shock of it, it does sound like a pretty good deal. We get 2 1st rounders a 3rd round pick and a decent QB for a crybaby QB and our extra 5th round pick this year. It’s getting better by the minute!!!

    I don’t think we’ll go QB in the draft this year. Brandon Marshall is going to be suspended for half the season, so this season is a wash anyway. But with 2 first rounders next year, we’ll be able to get Colt McCoy, Sam Bradford, or Graham Harrell AND Taylor Mays.
