The Denver Broncos‘ 2009 preseason schedule has been announced, with a few familiar preseason faces and a few new ones, too.

The team is set to travel to the San Francsico 49ers to start the 2009 expedition campaign, and will follow that up with a trip to face the Seattle Seahawks. They’ll have their home preseason opener against the Chicago Bears, to be broadcast on Sunday Night Football, and then host the Arizona Cardinals for their preseason finale. Exact dates are TBA except for the prime time match against the Bears, which will air on NBC at 6pm MDT on August 30th. Full press release after the jump.

NFL ANNOUNCES BRONCOS’ 2009 PRESEASON SCHEDULE

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — The National Football League on Monday announced the Denver Broncos’ 2009 preseason schedule, which features home games against the Chicago Bears and Arizona Cardinals as well as road contests against the San Francisco 49ers and Seattle Seahawks.

The Broncos open their preseason at San Francisco (Aug. 13-17) and play their first home game of the preseason on NBC’s Sunday Night Football against Chicago on Aug. 30 at 6 p.m. MDT at INVESCO Field at Mile High. Denver also visits Seattle in its second preseason game (Aug. 20-24) and hosts defending NFC-champion Arizona on Thursday, Sept. 3, at 7 p.m. MDT in its preseason finale.

Exact dates and times for Denver’s entire preseason schedule will be announced in April. CBS 4 (KCNC-TV) will produce and broadcast all of Denver’s preseason games with the exception of its Sunday Night Football game against the Bears.

Celebrating their 50th season in 2009, the Broncos own a 121-104 (.538) all-time record in the preseason. Denver, which was 2-2 in the preseason last year, has registered at least a .500 record in the preseason during 13 of the last 14 seasons and is 11-5 (.688) in exhibition play since 2005.

The NFL will release the Broncos’ complete 2009 regular-season schedule in April.

    San Fransisco here we come!!

I’m definitely going to try to get tickets for that game if I’m out west in August still.

I love that we get a prime time game (I miss a lot of games out here in Seahawk country) I can’t wait to see our new players/coach in action!!!!

  • http://broncotalk.net Ben

It kinda sucks that the Cowboy/Bronco scrimmage and game has been put onhold I thought that was a pretty cool thing to implement in the middle of offseason and it always managed to work up a couple stories, such as the “Brandon Marshall is no T.O. and Adam Pacman Jones is no Champ Bailey story” Not to mention the scrimages provided some ligit competition.

  • jcampb72

    Preseason is lame.

  • NathanH

Just saw on the bottom line of ESPN that Jay Cutler will forfiet $100,000 for missing more then 10% of offseason workouts.

Not sure what this means neccessarily, but it doesn’t appear as if Jay has put this behind him like you all have hoped he would. I’ll see if I can find more on it.

  • Fan From Spain

preseason should be 3 weeks, a whole month is dreadfull for many fans and risky for a player’s health.

  • Nicole

    NathanH,
I also saw that news while I was watching the ncaaw tournament. With no communication happening we’ve reached an apparent dead end. But I did hear that Pat Bowlen said that he put in a request to speak to Cutler and he hasn’t heard from him. I’m not sure what to think about the turnaround by Bowlen and mcdaniels. It seems that they have gone from being dead set on only one way to trying something new. If he’s still around, he may not report until June… his required time. I had concluded for myself that I now believe that the best thing for them to do is separate and in light of this it may be the best option for the broncos to take. Neither of them will reach their full potential together and they can’t be forced together at this point- the slightest thing will cause them to go off on each other. There appears to be a zero trust factor for Cutler and if pushed, he could sit the entire season (even though he said he would be at the mandatory). All the broncos can do is place him on the hold out list and attempt to collect a fine, but that only brings more problems with the union. I know that denver needs a qb, but it’s probably best that it’s not this one- they both need to go their separate ways.

  • NathanH

Cutler is just further reaffirming what i’ve been posting for the last two weeks or so. A guy like this isn’t that guy, atleast not for our franchise now, so why not cut our losses early and try and rebuild quick well his values high. Seriously, what kind of adult holds grudges like this? It’s so unprofessional, and show’s very little leadership, which is what I want more then anything including a rocket arm out of my QB.

  • Broncoireland

if cutler stays away much longer, even if remains with the broncos, there will be more problems down the line like when he is taking reps with the second team when he comes back because Sims has a huge head start on learning the offence. I can imagine him going into super sulkly mode because his huge ego will be further damaged and he will see it as McD ‘teaching him a lesson’ but in reality its due to himself staying away so long. If im McD, id give him 2 weeks from now to show up for clear the air talks and with a view to getting into Dove Valley immediately, if not, then work our a*s off to get the best deal for him leading up to the draft, i wouldn’t leave it any later as it will be too rushed and we wouldn’t get full value- i see where Cutler is coming from but it is seriously time for him to grow a set, man up and get back and lead your team!!

  • BroncoinVA9986

cutle went to vandy and sims went to texas. I think jay will have no trouble catching up with chris

  • NathanH

That has nothing to do with intelligence BrocoinVA, or the IVY league would be better then the SEC.

  • Jordan A

Yea, going to try and make that SF game. Went a few years ago and it was a blast

  • Nicole

    NathanH,
I actually don’t think that it is a grudge-but we’ll never know. In sports business, there’s always something behind the scenes going on and we will never know the full story. People may not like what he’s doing, but one thing is for certain- he gave them an answer and they should’ve listened. So, to an extent, the front office shares a huge part of the blame. On the issue of Simms, I can tell you that no one in Texas wants him here because he is the only Texas qb to lose all of his games versus OU- the coach finally saw the light and put him on the bench so you are more than welcome to have him. Cutler doesn’t want to be there-so part company and let him play somewhere else because people may not like him, but he is performing business because there really is no loyalty in sports, everybody better look out for themselves because if they don’t who will. As fans, we are not entitled to anything more than to enjoy the season and it will go on. No one promised us anything more and we don’t get anything else. Is he wants to leave and find a new team- go for it! Trust me, he doesn’t care if anyone calls him names because he’s looking out for himself- which is what he should be doing.

Yaaaaaaay!!! More speculative Cutler comments on an article about the pre-season schedule. I’m so glad that no matter what the article is about, everyone gravitates toward a subject that has been speculated and beaten to death by the fans and media for the last month. Noone has anything new or enlightening to say, so let’s stay on topic…pre-season schedule.

  • http://mrherculesrockefeller.blogspot.com hercules rockefeller

    No Houston?

  • http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3983805 WhidbeyBronco

The problem is nobody cares about preseason, how about a general forum kind of story to comment on…

  • jcampb72

that weaselly little bitch and our new gm have screwed up our best shot at a winning future!!
    I am very angry!!

  • Ryan M.

seriously considering picking an NFC team to cheer for…

  • jcampb72

jchase seems like your last comment was a couple hours too soon.

  • http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3983805 WhidbeyBronco

    Correction…a winning near future.

  • jcampb72

Whidbey and Ryan, I feel your pain, but lets not be too hasty. Lets see what we get for him before we get too angry, even though I agree he was the best chance we had for a stellar future.

  • http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3983805 WhidbeyBronco

yeah Ryan, I can’t seem to generate enough anger to give up on my team… but I may be rooting for the Cowboys this year more than the Broncos. (And in secret… whoever lands Cutler)

    Ah Screw it
    GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO BRONCOOOOOOOOOOOOS!!!!!!!!!

    I’m still super pissed.
First Shanny, now Cutler. How many injuries did we have last year and how close were we? Genius.
    @#$%%$#@!@#$%%$#@#$%$%#@@#$%$%#@#$%%$E@@#$%%$#

  • http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3983805 WhidbeyBronco

I’ll take the Cleveland deal with Quinn & Rogers over Detroit’s picks… still NOT a good trade!

What are the odds we try to resign Jay if no really good offers come?

  • soxbigdog

its being reported everywhere, from the team website to espn…

“Numerous attempts to contact Jay Cutler in the last 10 days, both by head coach Josh McDaniels and myself, have been unsuccessful,” Bowlen said.

I wanna say I feel bad for the team that trades for him, but hell, I am gonna feel bad enough watching next season, to feel bad for anyone else !

  • champ2203

    jcampb72
i keep trying to find where it says he’s officially being traded and I can’t find it anywhere. Where did you hear about it?

  • champ2203

thanks soxbigdog i should have waited like 2 seconds befor i posted huh? lol

  • http://broncotalk.net RVG10

  • http://broncotalk.net RVG10

I hope he goes to the Lions and breaks Favre’s records… only for INTERCEPTIONS!!!

  • http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3983805 WhidbeyBronco

RVG10 How many times would u let your boss lie to u before you quit him and took another job for more money?
    dumb-ass

  • http://broncotalk.net RVG10

I’d take Quinn, or really anyone (preferably 6th – 7th rounders, i.e. the next T. Brady). Remember that McD can win with ANY QB and that includes ones that haven’t played since high school!

  • broncobobmerdian

I bet there is a deal already done. Bowlen was contacted earlier today, by Jay’s agent. Think about it, Bowlen is going to want the best deal possible, and teams might try to low ball the broncos, because Culter’s statement about having no desire to play for the Broncos.
Maybe this is a blessing, Cutler better be careful what he wishes for. I would send him to the Lions, Bears, or the 49ers.

  • http://broncotalk.net RVG10

    WhidbeyBronco-
I don’t have to worry about that, I’m self-employed thanks!

  • champ2203

    WhidbeyBronco-
    agreed

  • champ2203

Yea he can win with Qb’s that haven’t played since HS. But whoever we get has to learn the system for 4 years like cassel did first. So here’s to 2013! WTF

  • NathanH

Cutlers a bitch and didn’t care about his fans, or teammates, so he can get the f out as far as i’m concernced. He has very little leadership, and thats what the QB should have the most of.

  • http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3983805 WhidbeyBronco

    Thanks Champ …
    Damn.
BTW Belichick won with Cassel not McDaniels. He’s never coached before!! Plus Cassel had …a pretty fair offense (and defense) in place, didn’t he?

  • http://broncotalk.net RVG10

    NathanH-
agreed. It’s all about leadership. Who cares if you have a rocket arm if you aren’t a team member/leader. Favre has a rocket arm, how many rings does he have… Tom Brady has an accurate arm and is a definite leader, how many rings does he have… hmm… (No knocks on Favre, he is a leader and a good teammate as far as I know).

  • broncobobmerdian

Cutler is a good QB, but not great. He made most of his passing yards, because of no running game. He is not even close to being in the top 10 qb’s last year. He is quitting on his teammates, and fans. Montana, Elway, didnt quit when the topic of getting traded came up. They went on to win Super Bowls

  • champ2203

well if Mc D is the great ” QB ” coach you think he is how come he couldn’t take a probowl QB in Jay and teach him about leadership. Instead he’s now getting shipped outta town for more than likely some clearance rack QB and some draft picks. give me a break.

  • http://broncotalk.net RVG10

I feel that leadership is like speed, it can’t be taught. You’re either a jerk or a good guy. That’s it.

  • http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3983805 WhidbeyBronco

It’s a business right? That’s what Jay was told when our team had no loyalty to him! But he’s supposed to bend over for Bowlen who said he’d keep our offense in tact and for Xanders/McDick who try to trade him and then lie about it….
Because he’s loyal to the fans? Have you been sniffing glue again Nathan?

  • soxbigdog

Champ2203 dont feel bad… I only saw it because it was in a flashing red box on the Yahoo sports page “CUTLER TO BE TRADED”… it took awhile for it to get picked up elsewere.. ESPN is only really mentioning it in passing with a headline of “On second though… Cutler will be traded”

  • BroncoinVA9986

good riddance cutler you whiny bitch……FFF him
