INVESCO Field at Mile High

Gridiron Experts sent me a few questions yesterday in regards to the Josh McDaniels-Jay Cutler fiasco. The questions they asked were:

Question 1
Do Bronco fans really believe the rift between McDaniel’s and Cutler can be mended? Or is it now a matter of trying to figure out who to get in to replace him?

Question 2:
With Rumors of Tony Scheffler also on the way out, and with the Broncos signing more players than any other team in free agency, is this team quietly being re-rebuilt and in for a long season?

Question 3
Who is the one player on the Broncos squad that no one talks about, but should? In other words, who’s your sleeper player?

The link is right here, so you should check it out.

Also, I’m calling upon you Bronco nation. Answer me these three questions, and visit Gridiron Experts their site rocks your socks off.

Like you East, the ball is in Cutler’s court. As I posted recently, He can’t return Josh’s text messages, and has accidently lost Bowlen’s phone number, but has found the time in his busy day to talk to Vic Lombardi. The best quote on the situation is Deion Sanders” Man up, lead your team”. If he is the leader he claims to be, show up and prove it. If not, instead of Detroit where he would get killed(on and off the field), then the Jets where he can impress people with his PR skills, especially after a loss.

Of course the team is rebuilding, what choice did they have. Should we improve the defense to around 20th, which I believe possible, and improve the offense from 16th( in points, second in yards and yards don’t win games) to the top 10, which I think likely with McD’s offense, we go 4-2 in the division and 5-5 out. Should we catch someone in an off game, we steal one more and go 10-6, we win the division and all the fire McD people will have to shut up for a while.

We could talk about three or four guys, but my personal favorite is Carlton Powell. He regularly took on double teams in College and was a terriffic draft choice last year. After a year of film study( defensive film, you know, Horror Movies), and a year of Rich Tuten, he’s ready to contribute, especially in the new D scheme. Also think Spenser Larson could be a positive surprise at LB, Jarvis Moss is’nt going to make it. Hes the next Ted Gregory.

Any one else find it ironic that one Mr. Prime Time used the words “Man up” to another football player. Has anyone showed him a clip of him trying to make a tackle.

Ooooh, interesting and much better than work.

    1. Yes it can be healed but both sides have to want it to be healed. At the moment it seems like the only side that is trying to put it behind them is the management. McD has made an effort recently to build bridges and now its Culter’s turn. I’m sure he’ll be the starter in August but at the moment it would just be nice to hear that both sides can move towards making the situation better rather than worse.

    2. The defense needed between 5 to 9 new starters irrespective of who the coach was so the changes on that side of the ball aren’t a surprise. Is it possible to rebuild and still be competitive? Yes, I believe it is. More of a re-tool than a rebuild. But there’s a glaring 330 pound hole at NT than needs to be addressed before I’ll be happy.

On the offense, a few tweeks will see yards converted to points and will make the team scary. Scheffler is a threat at tight end and would be a benefit to any team. But there are so many needs on the defensive side, that draft picks or front 7 defenders are more of a need and Scheffler is worth probably worth more to another team than the Broncos at the moment. Tony will go on to have a great career, though.

    3. Spener Larsen could have a break out year as a line-backer and special teams ace and was flung into the national spotlight when he started at both LB and FB but I’ll go with rookie punter – Brett Kern. He came in and averaged 46 yards per punt best for 5th in the NFL but because of the horrendous coverage team brought his net to 37. Sure he benefitted from the Mile High Air but looks like he could provide a long term answer at the punting position. I mean who wants to spend time worrying about their punter and if he’ll stay out of jail long enough to start the season?

    1. It can totally be mended, watching the McD NFL Total Access interview I can now see what a sarcastic, smug, little weasel he is. I can see why Cutler isn’t happy, just getting lied to by all angles. Although if McD just keeps up the “he is our QB” talk I can’t see why Cutler won’t come back.

    2. The minute Shan left this was going to be a rebuilding season, but within such a pathetic Div. I don’t see why we can’t make the playoffs. Chargers have not gotten any better, KC will be a disaster for Cassel, and the Raiders are the Raiders.

    3. Hillis, Hillis, Hillis. My man is a white Brandon Jacobs.

Here it is, short and dirty.
    1. yes
    2. no, should be excited
    3. There are two: Andra Davis, and Ryan Harris. I think both will surprise this year.

    Fleschman . . . blog #2 . . . .you nailed it bud . . . here is one of the most self-effacing . . . self-centered . . . narcisistic players telling someone he doesn’t even know to “man up” . . . .

and shame on the media for continuing to show that clip . . . T

  • Tom9798

    Andpark . . . you answered all three questions the same way I would have! . . . right on . . . T

I read the article Mr. East, and I have to say, I think you nailed the answers. I read every comment from 4 different Broncos related sites, as I’m sure we all do, and I think you summed up the fans feelings very well…so, great work.

Thanks jchase. Lets just hope this drama ends soon.
