Brian Dawkins Signs with Broncos

DawkinsBrian Dawkins, safety of the Philadelphia Eagles for the past 13 years, has signed with the Denver Broncos, Mike Florio of SportingNews.com reports. Dawkins is both a quality player and quality leader that will pay huge dividends to this rebuilding Broncos defense.

We’re waiting for confirmation from another source, but until then we’re running with this. This is easily the biggest signing of the day. What do you all think?

    Kyle, would you rather it smell like Lynch or last years batch of Safeties? Had we played the Lynch situation right we would have had a solid vet for a couple years and groomed a few young guys under him let’s hope we get it right this time.

    SF Chron also has it, so that’s two sources saying we got Dawkins.

    Great – got Dawkins – now go get Courtney Greene S out of Rutgers in the fifth round as a backup. Also look at some sleepers on defense like OLB Jason Williams out of Western Illinois and Alphonso Smith CB out of Wake Forest and this defense will shape up – Ray Ray Lewis would provide leadership short term, but also change the face of the defense. If he signs?

    Its Christmas in Febuary!! Lets see now, Hmmm, Leadership, Check. Toughness, check. With Renaldo Hill, we have our starting Safeties, check. One to get in the draft, check. 2 running backs, check. Return man, check. Productive Wrs, nearly check. A draft concentrating on our front 7, coming up.

    Hmmm…CBS4 is saying that the SF Chronicle was jumping the gun and Dawkins is just visiting.

    A few places are reporting it, but CBS4 is not and neither is Adam Schefter. Let’s hope it’s just a matter of putting the pen on the dotted line…

    I think thats the case, Kyle. I mean that website also has a few other things on their reported, that really did happen. I would be shocked if this was not true. And I searched CBS4 for any imformation saying that we jumped the gun and its not official or whatever has been said, and I have found nothing. I think its true…

    And after looking at sportingnews.com some more, Mike Florio has hit everything on the dot. Everything that he has posted up there, is true. Every single thing is….So my money is on that this is true as well…

    you have NO idea what youre getting at all, and personally i dont even think you or anyone else but philly deserves dawkins, if its really true. so if its true, you better kiss his feet for even wanting to come to your team. hes the best player youll ever get, and he was everything to our team. oh by the way, philly will always be his number one, dont expect that to change.

    Think about Ray (Lewis) and Rey (Maualuga) in the middle of the 3-4 with Brian Dawkins behind them. Nice. Or even better Ray L., Dawkins, and Raji up front. Very nice.

    There is no way broncos can afford lewis. It would be sweet if they could but i think ravens have plenty of cap room to match whatever broncos offer.

    Dawkins is washed up. He will disappoint you Denver. Love his intensity but the Eagles did not make a major play for him for a reason people, doesn’t that tell you something from a guy who was the heart and sould of Philly’s defense for better than 13-seasons? He can’t cover tight ends anymore, has lost a step and occasionally over pursues missing key tackles. His play against Arizona in the NFC Championship Game last season could be termed as “Invisible”. What he still does well is hit like a warrior and blitz effectively…he is also decent but no longer spectacular against the run. The only reason he made the Pro Bowl last season is because of his name. His production is now is in the C+ range.

    Man when Shanny was first fired, I didnt know what to expect. I thought that all hell was going to break loose, and Denver would suck for years to come. But now that I see what fresh blood really does to a team, my hat is off to McD. He knows what he is doing. Total props. Keep it up McD, I’m lovin’ what I’m seein!!!!! Can’t wait until camps and preseason!!!! ITS OUR TURN TO OWN THIS DIVISION!!!!!

    everybody calm down. thats only Denver news. Adam Schefter has said the deal isnt anywhere near done and that Dawkins is only visiting. ESPN, Rotoworld havent reported anything at all. if Florio reports it then it isnt accurate.

    and Philly fans, if Dawkins does sign in Denver, dont come crying and whining. your own QB doesnt want a contract extension because Andy Reid is an incompetant who cant win the big one. then again your QB cant either.

    no its not for sure. a Denver site reported it. just like a New York site reported the Bart Scott signing when in fact there was no signing at all. Adam Schefter has reported that no deal has been reached. and Schefter has the ins and outs better then CBS4news. and just because a deal was “Reached” doesnt mean he signed. same as Bart Scott in New York, they reached a deal but Scott gave Baltimore a chance to match which they did and in turn the Jets upped their offer. a reaching of a deal doesnt signal a signing.
