Deangelo Hall and Michael HuffDeAngelo Hall and Michael Huff

In more proof that Al Davis has lost whatever marbles he had left, the Raiders waived DeAngelo Hall today. Angered by the Raiders being completely blown out by the Falcons, Al Davis made a list of people that should be considered for flushing and high priced corner Hall got the first cut.

But that’s not all. Javon Walker is on the list too. Though it remains to be seen if the Raiders can even afford to cut him after the monstrous signing bonus they gave him, it’s a bit of schadenfreude from a distance; with the Lane Kiffin firing, the Raiders are going from merely a bad team with too many problems to count to NFL laughingstock that may be so messed up that it will take years to recover any semblance of decent play from the franchise.

The Broncos could lose the rest of our games and end the season 4-12 and still wouldn’t be in as bad of shape as the Raiders right now. I can’t wait to see who gets cut next.

we should pick up deangelo hall to me his better then what we got in for bailey

  • jcampb72

Hey all you bloggers…..what position and player would you like to see the broncos adress in the first and second round of the 09 draft?

  • JP

Defensive Tackle…both rounds. and i want monsters. I dont know which ones exactly at this point…Whoever is the meanest

  • orangecrush74

Dt and MLB. Cody-NT from Alabama and Laurianitus (?) MLB from Ohio st. Both guys would improve the D dramatically. I haven’t really been impressed with the safety class. Although the kid from Florida is starting to light it up!

  • http://broncotalk.net Kyle

DT, DE, MLB, OLB, CB, S… I’d be happy with any of them. Or a running back.

Shoot, when I put it that way…

  • Dee

    Major Wright from FL?
what about Taylor Mays, or ray maulauga(sp) also from USC?
id also like to see us get Laurianitus though

  • kerry

maybe next the Raiders will cut Gerard Warren. we could definetly use him. and yeah thats a good way to draft players. “whoever is the meanest” great formula. so skill and talent means nothing as long as the players are mean? lol.

  • Bobby

ESPN says S Gibril WIlson might be next…I think he would be a great addition if the Broncos could pick him up

“This was a disaster. More cuts could be on the way and other high-priced 2008 free-agent signings such as Javon Walker, Tommy Kelly, Gibril Wilson and Kwame Harris could potentially be on the way out at some point, either this season or in the offseason.”

  • ssc

ehm or other admins: how about a little primer on what has to happen for the broncs to sign any of these guys? do they have to pass waivers? are there rules about what happens to their existing contracts? etc

  • kerry

oh dont worry about signing any of these guys. they are defensive players. Shanahan doesnt like defense. thats why we recently signed Chad Jackson when is wasnt even neccesary.

ssc: Broncos have -0- chance of signing DeAngelo Hall I think.

Only players who have been in the league less than five years have to go through waivers, I’d have to see how long Hall has been in. Once you’re a five year vet, when you’re released you’re immediately a free agent. If less, you go into the waiver process and you can be claimed. I’m not exactly sure how waiver order works but usually it’s poorest record but claiming a waiver will move you to the back of the list.

That said, there’s no way we could take Hall on. We have 2 highly paid cornerbacks in Bly and Bailey. Hall would not want to play for us where he risks being the 3rd CB and we wouldn’t pay someone the money Hall wants to be a 3rd CB.

Gibril Wilson, on the other hand, if he is cut, I think the Broncos could make a run at him.

  • Marv

to think my friend a raiders fan after that lose they need to trade J. Russell

  • BroncoFan18

The problem with the Raiders is that their problems are at the top. No one can fire Al Davis. Look, he was great in the past, but he hasn’t caught up with the new NFL. He’s making terrible decisions left and right.

I is want bronco take draft middle lined back defence lined man, come on guy has have to shorn up the interiate. The front sevens on defence need the shorn up must destroy enemy player at pont of attack.

The rader is have hooge yard sale guy.

  • http://birty.blogspot.com mikebirty

The defense needs to fill pretty much any spot but I’d take DT and Safety first – on the premise that good players there make everything else look better.

And its always fun to laugh at the raiders – it cheered me up no end – I’ve barely thought about how much pain my knee is in.

  • jcampb72

I think we had a great offensive draft this year with royal, clady, and hillis now we need another great defensive draft! Starting with MLB, I would say DT but this years draft looks a lil thin, then a stellar safety….who knows but lets finish this season on a high note starting with the Cleveland Clowns.

  • jcampb72

By the way…..hope Moss has another great game….we really need him to win, but most importantly Cutler has to feel like this rookie QB (Quinn) is not better than him and have a poised smart game. Also, we need to get the run game going and it all starts with the O-line. If we come out early I think we have a great chance to win, let Brady try and beat us deep. With the time needed to throw there should be plenty of opportunities to sack him even if he does try to scramble. GO BRONCOS!!!!!

  • JP

Kerry..you are an idiot…my point of being mean was in a toss up between the 2 best DT’s, the tie breaker should be the mean-streak. Im sick of watching our players come to the sidelines bloodied and bashed only to sit quietly on the bench until their next beating. Its time someone gets a little pi$$ed off if you ask me. Where is the fire? Dont even answer…the fire left with Al Wilson. We need it back. Instead of all the hooting and hollering after “stopping” a 5-7 yard run, maybe someone should save some energy to smack the sh1t out of everyone on the sideline so they wake up.

  • ssc

thx ehm. i agree that the broncs would have no interest (hopefully) in hall. i was looking more for a primer on the rules, which you gave. so based on your 5yr rule, huff must go through waivers, and gibril wilson (playing his 5th yr) would too? that takes the broncos out of contention for either, should they get cut. bummer. getting warren back would be nice, although unlikely.

  • robtink242

i know our defence isn’t the best but it isnt Brady Quinn bad. He going to make alot of mistakes he’s going to make Dre Bly look good cause he try to push the ball to Edwards (Cutler to Marshall).

Look for Jarvis Moss to have a good game (DE/LB) dont matter. Joe Thomas will be tied up with wit Dummervile.

    Torains fist 100yard game Broncos 27- 13.

    hayie Kule,
Wuen is it teh crate-a-casion winor gong to bee annouced??

  • meomy

So long as we keep playing zone on pass defense I wouldn’t mind seeing Hall play for the broncos. In zone defense Hall is very good. One on one he sucks.

  • bob

meomy i totally agree DHall is a ball hawk in zone coverage.
