If you thought yesterday’s presidential election and subsequent end of the campaign trail would also bring an end to over-hyped media mudslinging, you were sadly mistaken.

Dolphins LB Joey Porter and Broncos WR Brandon Marshall have had a war of words since the game on Sunday, and while no one is accusing the other of associating with terrorists, there are plenty of “popcorn muscles” and “soft”s and “like a girl”s to go around.

It all started when Porter called out Marshall in his post game press conference.

“I didn’t get inside his head, we just were talkin’. He got in his own head. He was done. He’s one of those soft receivers, where he has to have the ball all the time. If he don’t get it, he’s going to mope and cry. He did it to himself.”

Marshall, never one to back down from a fight, responded Tuesday.

“You know, we hear stories floating around the league all the time about him as far [as being] in nightclubs dancing with his shirt off like a girl or in the playground getting beat up back in California. He’s one of those guys that no matter how big he is, he can still get knocked on his butt and he’s soft. He’s soft at heart and you can tell by the way he talks.

“And his nickname is ‘Peezy.’ I don’t know what ‘Peezy’ is. Joey?”

Pardon me for just not caring all that much. This losing streak has sucked the life (and humor) out of me (notice no Create-a-Captions lately?). The Broncos have a ton of issues right now – we’re 1-4. Forget the first three games. Don’t even think about ’em. We’re 1-4. And while it’s true that Marshall probably shouldn’t be making these comments, I find myself not paying attention too much. Win the damn game Thursday.

Marshall hasn’t had to deal with this particular kind of adversity yet. This is good for him.

I dunno why people get so down on football players talking trash. Quietly most people love it, except when they don’t. Talk it up, Marshall. If that’s what gets you juiced to play, go for it.

i love that b-marsh shot back at porter. And i think it is relevant and important for our team now. Marshall is showing the rest of the team, fans and country that the broncos still have pride. We dont sit back and take people talking smack about us, no matter our record. Good work b-marsh

I really don’t think you should be talkin’ smack to the guy who just kicked your tail all over the field. Hopefully we can worry about winning some games on the field. Let your play do the talking!

I have to agree with Steve in that it’s important for the Broncos to show they have some back bone and pride left in them. I am not a huge fan of trash talking, I think there is something to be said about letting you play do the talking (exp. Barry Sanders, Rod Smith, Chris Spielman). How ever I do think in this instance Marshall is doing the right thing and I hope it does fire him and his team mates up. Because the Broncos O has twice the talent the Dolphins O has and I don’t think it would be far fetched to say 8 or 9 times out of 10 the Broncos O would kick the Dolphins tails.

What it comes down to is the Broncos are a better team then what their showing and if this is what they need to get them going then so be it.

I know this is only slightly related but I loved Marshall’s post game comments. He didn’t make excuses and I think his comments are indicative of his increasing leadership role within the team. And how’s this for consummate professionalism: B Marsh got up at 5 am yesterday to go to Dove Valley and catch some balls and work on running routes before voting and practice. Sounds like a Rod Smith is rubbing off on him.

Call me crazy, but I sort of doubt B-Marsh getting fired up is going to do much for the team as a whole. I remain thoroughly disheartened by the situation in general. Like Kyle said: just win the damn game Thursday, then mayble I’ll give a crap.

Wow i’m shocked that Kerry has been here yet to turn this whole story around and bring up some point of getting rid of Shanny

  • OC Bronco

Sad thing is Porter was 100% correct. Spot on. But I do see him growing up and Porter is only helping B Marsh mature in pointing this out.
