Jay Cutler vs. Chiefs (Reuters)

It’s been three weeks since the Broncos had as positive an outcome as this past weekend’s set of games. Naturally, it came on their bye week.

All three AFC West teams lost (giving the Broncos a game and a half lead over the Chargers), two AFC division leaders fell as well, and another possible AFC Wild Card candidate struggled over the weekend, opening the door for the Broncos to get back on track among the leaders in the AFC.

With the Chargers on their bye, the Broncos have a golden opportunity against Miami. Win, and they open back up a two-game lead on San Diego. Lose and the race becomes a close one-game contest. They can either leave the door open for a San Diego surge or put them out of their misery here and now.

I’m all for the latter, especially when you consider this plain and obvious truth: only one AFC West team will be playing meaningful football in January.

So the importance of this game cannot be understated – for the division standings, for the conference playoff picture, and for the confidence of a young team that has struggled as of late to find its identity. Let’s start the second half of the season on a winning note. Let’s regain the momentum we had in Weeks 1-3.

Go Broncos! Chapter Two of this 2008 Season is underway!

I would love nothing more than for the Broncos to leave San Diego in their dust… but… can they even beat Miami? Miami’s on a tear right now, and the Broncos are licking their wounds.

I sure hope we can add an extra bit because i think we play SD at SD for the season finale. And i would love to go into that game knowing regardless we are in the playoffs. I dont feel confident in the ability to win under pressure on the road. So any win we can get now would be great.

The offense needs to score every possession with only 2 field goals and no turnovers!!!! no punts!!!! I don’t want an excuses from the Defense about how they couldn’t stop the college style wildcat offense. So…. Simply do what we did the first 3 weeks and LIGHT UP THE SCOREBOARD.

The longer your offense is on the field….The less time your defense is on the field.

And if for whatever reason the points are not flowing like wine, then the offense better have 8 – 10 minute drives every time. And did i mention NO TURNOVERS.

Shanahan usually does very well after a bye. Here’s hoping that trend continues.

SD is a lot like us. They have a bad defense and a really good offense. I would say the big difference is SD has a little bit more maturity on offense while ours is pretty young and inexperienced. SD’s offense seems to struggle early while their defense gives up big leads and then SD offense comes on strong in the 2nd half. Ours is exactly the opposite, strong earlythen goes stale as the game goes on. I think that is from immaturity so as we get more experience on offense I think we will get better down the stretch. As far as our D goes I don’t see a lot of hope there. The only hope for our D is that our offense does get better. Our O starts winning the time of possession, no turnovers, no missed scoring opportunities and that is the only hope we have of our D looking better this year. Because of our inept defense we are a team that can dominate if we win TOP, and have no turnovers. We can’t have much of a chance winning when we don’t win in those two categories, we just don’t have the D to do it.

i see us having no real issues moving the ball on their defense. we have enough threats in enough areas to score some points on the dolphins.

the wildcat doesnt worry me either. what does worry me is that their passing attack is brutally efficient. their short to mid range patterns are right on the money. our defense is goning to have a tough time getting off the field, especially without champ and boss in there. if they have their way with the passing game and keep brown and williams fresh, we’re in trouble.

i agree 100% with flbronc.. think back to that raider game.. had JaMarcus hit on some passes w/ pretty open recievers it wouldve been a different game. An accurate passer willing the take the underneath stuff seems to kill us, and that pretty much sums up Pennington.. that being said, if we knock of the crazy turnovers we should be able to outscore the fins

Turnovers, turnovers, TURNOVERS. None of them and we will beat Miami even if they are on a roll. Plus, Shanny does great after a bye, so I feel are chances are pretty good if we can just hold on to the dang ball. I fell our chances are good against ANY opponent if we don’t turn it over.

And a two game lead of the Chargers certainly would be comforting, especially since we are traveling their later in the year.
