Denver Bronco faithful: I’ve always promised to bring the East Coast Media bias closer to Denver. Here is my first attempt. Page 6 is BroncoTalk’s rumor section… These are not your unfounded rumors, not your, “I think that so-and-so is in Shanahan’s dog-house,” types of typing. These are legit; straight from the mouth types of rumors.  It’s a unique new column we hope will keep you coming back to BroncoTalk time and time again.

Of course we can never guarantee anything, but we do look forward to what you have to say.

First of all, my friends:

  • Colbert on the bubble. Keary Colbert is on the outs. Let him show and prove himself against the Arizona Cardinals, or backup Clifford Russell will take his spot.
  • Royal not a starter yet. Eddie Royal will stand behind Darrell Jackson in game two. Know that there will not be an Eddie Royal/Brandon Marshall show until the rookie proves his worth. He’s got one game to do it. The San Diego Chargers should expect Darrell Jackson starting opposite of Brandon Marshall in the NFL’s second week.
  • Another guard trade coming? Trades are not over. Sirius NFL broke it, but the Indianapolis Colts need help at guard. The Denver Broncos currently employ that help – in Dylan Gandy. He knows the Colts offense, and with Jeff Saturday taking a break, Gandy is perfect. Let’s see what happens.
  • Roster spot for P.J. Longtime backup offensive lineman P.J. Alexander is a sure thing this season. He can play any of the five offensive line positions. That makes him a perfect fit for the seven man suited lineup for the Broncos.
  • Torain Train arriving before the bye. No worries for Ryan Torain. He will make the team, and they expect him back by Week 7, when the Broncos take on the Miami Dolphins.

Bronco faithful, what do you think? This is your opportunity to sound off. Let us know! Are we crazy or not?

  • Triston27

Great idea. This is what people want to see.

  • Ryan

I’m not so sure about these rumors. Gandy maybe, Torain maybe. Colbert has (in my eyese) performed better than Clifford Russell. And Royal is still above Jackson on the Broncos Depth chart and neither has done anything at this point to show they should be switched.

  • broncosmang

Man, Colbert has disappointed me. He’s a willing blocker, but hasn’t offered much else.

  • orangecrush74

What does Indy have at MLB? We need help there, not sold on Nate or any one else for that matter.

  • kerry

ok this is really absurd that some people think that Torain wont make this team. he is going to be on this team!! why doesnt anybody freaking realize that!! just like some think Lichty isnt going to make it. YES HE WILL MAKE THE TEAM! Shanahan used a 4th on Lichty and a 5th on Torain for a reason. and the reason isnt to just cut them. what is all this maybe crap about Torain?!?!?!

    Love the new column.

Hope you’re wrong about Royal. He’s shown plenty.

  • YellowStoneBronco

I like the page 6 series… I hope it continues. Quick and to the point of topics for discussion.

I wanted Colbert to be the Next Ed Mac as promised. Haven’t seen it yet. However, I see him making the team.

Royal: Yeah he proves he is the #2 in game 1.

Gandy: Interesting. Heard this here first. Mid round draft pick? Do they have a DT?

P.J.: Versatility isn’t the top factor to keeping your spot – ask Mallard. But who knows.

Whoot Whooooo: All aboard the Torain Train.

PJ Alexander CAN play any O spot–badly.

He is not quality depth. I’d rather have a rookie in there; the level of play might not be better, but the rookie has a chance of improving. PJ is already at the peak of his game. Maybe past it.

  • flbronc

from everything i have heard, and seen in the two pre season games i have seen, it looks to me like royal is a better bet than jackson. we know that jackson can be solid and will provide a somewhat dependable #2 wr without too much spark. but man, royal…. that boy’s good with the football in his hands.

  • http://broncotalk.net Kyle

kerry – the issue is whether the Broncos will put him on IR or not, ending his season. They won’t release Torain either way.

  • HogBlog

    Ian;

1st of all, how do you know anything about interest of the Colts in their previous OLineman, Dylan Gandy? If there is substance, then who do we get? I cant believe we’d get anything of quality other than another ridiculous low round pick! Im sick of it…for god’s sakes let’s be real.

Draft picks are for next year, we need depth and skill now! We have great rookie potential and talent, but that’s next year as well, except for Royal,Clady, Hillis, Aldridge. They’ll make an impact this year!

    BTW…Who is Ian Hensen anyway?

  • http://broncotalk.net Kyle

    HogBlog,

We’ve yet to ‘formally’ announce it, but he’s joining the blog. I’ve been in need of a regular-time writer for awhile now. Ian hopes to post daily, which will be a huge help to me this semester as I go for my final year of college.

Ian’s been running his blog broncos-denver-broncos.blogspot.com for several months now. We’re happy to have him!

Re: the Gandy comment, that was reported by Sirius NFL Radio. Jeff Saturday’s injury has them desperate for depth. He indicated as much in the post.

  • OC Bronco

Definitley enjoyed the article! All of these so-called rumors make perfect sense. I don’t even think any of these should be considered a real stretch. Possibly Colbert but for all that money he has shown very little if anything.

  • 96 is gome

    Nice column idea Kyle.

I like Torain. I thought he was an absolute steal where he was drafted. He was injured a bit his last year (ala Terrel Davis), but was fantastic his last full year in college. His running style reminded me of TD (I apparently watch to much Pac 10 ball…lol). I thought Royal and Clady were both excellent picks. And I still expect Royal to become a very dangerous weapon. Colbert has shown nothing to make one think he’s deserving of the kind of money he got. As I’ve said before here, WR is a BIG issue for this team, with or without Marshall. Excellent observation about PJ Alexander: He’s a great cheap insurance policy. Not surprised that Holland is gone. Shanahan has fallen in and out of love with players for a lack of “professionalism” lots of times prior.

I’m interested in seeing something from you Kyle in regards to where you think the Broncos will finish this year. I’ve given an analysis prior, and will do so here again before the season opener. BTW, for those of you who attacked me so vigorously for my analysis, go check out ESPN, SI.com, or CBS Sportsline for their writers analysis of the Broncos season potential. I think 2 writers out of the whole lot predict the Broncos to make the playoffs……

  • 96isgone

Nice idea for a column Kyle…

As I’ve written here previously, WR is a big question mark for this team. Colbert has shown nothing to give the impression that he deserves the kind of money he’s been given. I still think Royal will be a dangerous threat in the passing game.
Excellent observation on PJ Alexander, he’s a cheap insurance policy.
I thought Torain was a steal in the draft. Kuiper was in love with him his sr year before he was hurt. His running style reminded me of Terrel Davis. If he can get back to form, he’ll be a steal.

For those of you who thought my analysis of the Broncos’ here earlier this month was too harsh, take a look at ESPN, SI.com, or CBS Sportsline. I can find only two of their columnists or analysts who think the Broncos make the playoffs this year….

  • OC Bronco

Receiver is an issue for this team? We have never had a talent like Marshall. Stokley and D Jax are both 1000-yard WRs and are still very good if not what they once were and it looks as though Royal will be making a bigger splash than expected and our #5 will be deeper than ever. That is one area I am not concerned about.
