We’ve updated the main poll on the left sidebar of the site, and as always, we’d love for you to discuss your choice in the comments of this post.  This one’s the Big Kahuna – the Grand Finale of offseason polls.

How many games will the Denver Broncos win in 2008? How far will this season take us (Wild Card, Divison title… beyond?).  Be sure to tell us why you voted the way you did!  The poll is available on the left sidebar, and also after the jump.

theres certain positions that cant have an injury bug, DT,QB,CB, OT
and if we stay healthy in those positions then we’ll be ahh ok ^_^

  • SivNiz

I think we win 10 games and make the playoffs, not sure if it’s a wildcard or not but 10-6 usually gets you a spot.

  • http://broncotalk.net Kyle

Its hard to imagine not winning 10 games with this schedule.

Then again, I said that last year. Who knew the AFC South would explode and that the NFC North would dominate us to a 3-1 record?

  • kerry

im saying 11 games. our schedule indicates we should win at least 11. and everybody (except Nalen and boss) seem to be getting through the preseason healthy. after the Packers game the starters more then likely wont play in the final preseason game.

  • http://denverbroncosnewsbyjon.blogspot.com Jon

    12-4!

  • Ryan

I think we can win 11 for sure. I really base my whole outlook on this season on the first and second game. If we beat Oakland, I think we’ll carry a lot of momentum home with us against SD, if we win both of those we will have a great season and be top of AFC West for sure. If we lose in Oakland (please Lord no!) then we’ll likely lose to SD and struggle the whole year.

  • SivNiz

Good point Ryan. With Shawne Merriman possibly being injured, that can only help our chance of starting out hot.

  • kerry

we can beat the Chargers even if they do have Shawne Merriman!!! we dont need help. i hope Merriman is healthy. i dont want to hear any excuses when we beat the Chargers and Phyllis Rivers!!!

  • Johnny Leatherhead

I am convinced of neither the running game nor the defensive line. Based on where the team is today I think they’ll go about 8-8.

  • Patrick

Mile High Magic. I remember being a wee sprout in Arvada, Colorado watching a game where the Broncos were down 19-6 to the Chiefs with under two minutes left. I didn’t believe the Broncos could come back. But they did, and I have believed ever since. I believe that the Denver Broncos can beat any team in the NFL on any given Sunday. If I didn’t I wouldn’t watch the games and be so heartbroken when they lose. My prediction is 16-0. Realistic? No. Only one team has ever done it. Do I believe they can? Every year baby!

  • Patrick

*Only one team has done it without cheating. ;)

I am convinced about the defensive line but not the running game. I think we’ll be 100% better against the run and Bly and Bailey will be left to do what they do best and that is man up. I think we have the passing game and overall offense required to go up early and force folks to pass on us late in games. Our passing game will open up the run a whole lot with draws and delays, it will just be a change of offensive philosophy however, I’m sure Shannahan will be up to it.

The games I am uncertain about are:
Wk 3: Yes it is at home but NO has an impressive array of weapons and we’ll have just come off of highly emotional and taxing victories. Losing this game will be worth it. A wake up for us early.
Wk 6: Again at home, but that running game is a bit more exotic and versatile. Wish David tossing that rock around it will be a unique challenge depending on what they have left after INDI, HOU and PITT.
Wk 7: Call me faithless, but I don’t think we stand much of chance on this one. We’d have to go up early and stay up allthewhile keeping a constant pass rush on. Too many weapons to lookout for…
Good time for a bye though…
I think we’ll hit a winning streak through week 12 with a close win to at 11 to sweep OAK.
WK 13: Say hello, once again, to Brett Favre. He’ll have his offense down and depending if the all time NFL leader in TDs shows or the all time leader in INTs shows this year we may have some concerns here on this away game and they’ll be one week removed from their emotional loss to NE possibly off a two game losing streak.
Wk 17: We’ll lose to the charges because we have less on the line than they do as they compete with IND and NYJ (yes, I think it’s JAX’s time to shine) for a wild card.

    Probowlers:
D.J., Jay, Dewayne, Elvis, Champ, Eddie (return), Brandon and one of those monster punters we’re looking at.

    10-6 Bank on it.

3-5 in first half of season (Doom and Gloom)
7-2 in second half of season (Sb here we come)

Denver will only get to the divison round in the playoffs before bowing out.

As the great Bill Walsh said,” Schedule is huge’, or something to that effect. I think this is oe of Dnver’s easiest schedules in a long time.

Denver only plays a handfull of top teams and a ton of the worst teams in the league.

Denver will be better in all three levels of O, D, and Sp teams.

Denver will be a spread offense and challenge teams to actually outscore them copycating the Pats and Colts of last year.

Cutler wll pass ofr 30 TDs.
The O-line will be better at pass protection than run blocking.
Selin Young will be more like Brian Westbrook catching passes out of the backfiled.
You will see the bitz come back to Denver D. Sacks and INTs will go up.

Prater will make a game winner in the final sconds and miss one a well.

I think Denver s currently 3 key players away from being a legit elite team and Super Bowl contender. They are missing a stud RB, a Middle linebacker, and a Top DE that can defend the run and pass.
They will have to wait until 2009 to take the division shy of Gates and LT getting hurt t this year.

    7-1 second half

    10-6
Wildcard Playoff Win against Houston Texans.

I love the positivity! We BARELY won 7 games last year but I expect that we will improve on the 7. With no Elam to bail us out we have to be that much better. I am ecstatic if we can pull out 9-10 wins in a rebuilding year. I think we make a decent jump this year and back to the top next year…..

  • Jordan

I was going to say 10-12 games. I feel the defense and offense have finally stepped up and can withstand some teams. Kicking special teams and the running game still need some fine tuning.

  • Riverscanbl&wme

I think we can win 10-13 games based on the season schedule. With easy wins against Atlanta and Miami and sweeping both Oakland and Kansas City gives us six wins. Carolina should be a W based their previous years performance. I think we beat both Buffalo and the Jets in close games. I don’t think Jacksonville will be a win and New England and Tampa Bay (Coyer down there will have them ready to go) are also challenging matchups. A shootout with New Orleans could go either way but at playing at home will help. I think we split with San Diego. Of course we could pull out a huge win against a great team and blow a win with someone like Cleveland. All in all I think Cutler will get us over the ten win mark and secure us a place in the playoffs.

As for the postseason ,it’s all about seeding that will determine how far we go. We have New Englands number but Indy has ours as does San Diego. I have a gut feeling that we will make it back to the AFC championship game either this year or the next.

Here’s hoping that we stay healthy (Cutler and Clady especially) and that our pass rush improves and therefore gets the defense off the field and gives our offense more series per game. The starting field position can’t get worse than last years (let’s go Eddie) and the red zone effeciency should be better with a healthy Scheffler and more options out of the backfield like Hillis.

No matter what I am ready for football and win or lose I can’t wait to watch our beloved blue and orange take the field each Sunday. Are you ready for some football? Alllreeeaaady!!! GO BRONCOS

  • Richard

I think we go 10-6 and see what happens in the playoffs. Last year we were 11th in offense and went 7-9. This year we should be somewhere around 5th to 10th in O, barring the catastrophic injury, and a reasonable bounce of the ball. Defensively, we were god awful and finished 30th in D. Changes in scheme, upgrades in personnel and an easier schedule convince me we can be 10th to 15th in total D. The improvement from very bad to average will keep us in some of the games that were total blowouts last year(see SD home and away), as well as, keep us ahead in close games against bad teams(see Buffalo and Chicago). I’m still not sold on Slowik after watching him coach in Chicago in the ’90s. However, Shanahan seems to have made some excellent personnel moves this offseason, and I’m willing to give him the benefit of the doubt.

Lots of wins this year………unlike the past couple of years, the team chemistry seems excellent. Jay Cutler is ready to show the league what a fine QB he is, and when #15 returns that will provide Cutler with one of the league’s most dangerous targets. If #15 stays straight…..and no rash of injuries occurs to key positions….there is no stopping Broncos 2008.

  • Chargerbomb

Wow, a lot of optimism up in here. I still think you guys are a year or 2 away from competing with San Diego for the division, but stranger things have happened. I gotta wonder who steps up as your leaders with Lynch and now apparently Nalen out.

Is Chargerbomb a Charger fan? If he is get him out og here!!
