Las Vegas police have made an arrest in the robbery and beating that took place against former Denver Broncos wide receiver Javon Walker last week. Walker was found beaten and unconscious early in the morning of Monday, June 16, 2008, with a reported estimate of $103,000 stolen in cash and jewelry.
Police said Tuesday that 30-year-old Arfat Fadel is suspected of multiple felonies including kidnapping and robbery. Fadel was arrested Friday and police were looking for a second suspect.
According to the police statement, Walker’s previous version of the story is incorrect, as most suspected. Walker willingly entered the vehicle with the two men hours before being found unconscious on a Las Vegas street.
Walker reportedly suffered a moderate concussion and significant facial injuries, including an unconfirmed fractured orbital bone.
Walker joined the Oakland Raiders this offseason, signing a lucrative six-year deal worth $55 million and $27 million in guarantees. In a team statement issued last week, the Raiders believe he should be ready for training camp in July.
