Now that the NFL Draft is over, we want to hear what you would have done differently. Did you have a certain player you were hoping the Broncos would target in the first few rounds? Were you hoping they would address a specific position more effectively? More defense, less offense? Just downright hated a pick or two? Let us know in the comments!

Another DT another DT another DT.

For Royal or anyone in rounds 5-7 (except powell of course).

I actually wanted another DT too. I said a lot in different forums that I wanted 2 DT’s out of this draft, and Robertson.

I kinda like everybody though, so I don’t know who I would change.

I would have probably traded our 2nd and a mid to late rounder to move up from a high 2nd to a low first and take a guy like Balmer or Phillips.

Not a thing! We got the best guy in the first round and we added depth everywhere else. Royal will be a Pro Bowler in 2009, when the Broncos go back to the SUPER BOWL!

The way Shanahan talked there just wasn’t the same depth of quality D-linemen this year (compared to last year). I would have also liked to see an extra DT drafted, but I trust their scouts on the subject.

I have a tendancy to pull for the little guys, so I can’t pick on Royal (I’m pulling for him to make it). And I still have some research to do on the other picks… but I agree with Kyle — I can’t immediately see someone I would throw away to get just an average DT.

    CladyIsTheNewLepsis… awesome name dude! :)

Clady is the new Lepsis… don’t call me a blasphemer, but I think Clady could (and will) be better. ;)

Excellent name, and welcome to BroncoTalk.

I’m hoping more for CladyIsTheNewZimmerman – Kyle this should be your new handle!

I would have snagged Arrington from Michigan as the second pick of the last round instead of a FB. Not to be biased because I live in Michigan, but since he was still around at that point (which I was kinda surprised) I would have snagged him especially since we didn’t go after Manningham which is totally understandable with his off the field issues.

Zbikowski……. would have been great in the fourth round….

Obviously a DT. I don’t like the corner in round 4 either, just the position, not the player.

I don’t know much about college players, but I really liked this kid out of Sourthern Cal, Chuncey Washington. He went to Jax at 215.

There, is that better? Too long? :)

Zbikowski was drafted in the 3rd round by the Ravens.

I agree with AZBronco7. I would have gone a different direction in Rd. 2 — Trevor Laws, DT from ND who went a few picks later to the Eagles. This guy has a non-stop motor and has high character. I would have gone with Red Bryant with the 2nd 4th-round pick (instead of Williams) — another big body run-stuffer. That would have taken care of the biggest need. Instead of Powell (with 2 DTs already on board), I would have taken another LB — Goff played MLB at Vandy. I’m not thrilled with our LB or our DT depth.

While Royal has potential, DT is a bigger need. That said, the analysts who wonder why we chose Royal over Sweed, etc., must not be doing their homework. Shanny has been saying for months how we need a PR/KR. I just don’t think that the value at Rd. 2 was better than Laws.

Durant Brooks (P) would have been nice, but I wouldn’t have picked him any earlier than the 6th round. By the time we picked, he was already wearing a Skins hat. The 6th and 7th round picks seem to be good value.

I’m not sure DT is actually a bigger need than KR/PR. There’s a lot to be said for giving the defense a break by getting better yardage out of special teams.

I can only guess that the organization thinks Marcus Thomas improved toward the end of the season. Also, and this is a big deal — they changed schemes in mid-stream last season. The run defense was not entirely the fault of the personnel. A lot of things went wrong and there’s coaching and preparedness to blame as well as talent.

But for my money, if Robertson works out, and Marcus Thomas is starter quality this year, a 2nd round DT would actually be a bad pick.

I’d much rather have taken a second DT in the later rounds. I’m thinking we need rotational guys.

i think all of our picks were excellent. filled alot of holes. especially at kick/punt returner and LT. i also like the CB selection, lets face it, Bailey and Bly arent getting any younger. Williams could be a good project player to take over for one of them. i love the Clady and Lichtenstieger picks. lichtensteiger is the future center and Clady will be a pro bowler before we know it. but i was hoping we would have made some kind of trade to get back our third rounder and selected MLB Dan Connor. he could have been our future MLB.
