[DeWayne Robertson]

The Denver Broncos and New York Jets have been working out the details of a trade to send Dewayne Robertson to the Broncos for weeks. Several league sources have confirmed that a trade for Robertson is almost complete, and that the Broncos are willing to give two of their draft picks between the fourth and sixth rounds to finish the deal. Scout.com report

According to the report, the trade would be finalized on the condition that the Broncos sign the defensive tackle to a new contract before the draft.

Hopefully this thing is almost over. But two picks? Really? For a defensive tackle suffering from a knee with bone-on-bone, who is going to be released anyway? It doesn’t make any sense to me.

This deal makes me a little nervous, we have gotten good value in those latter rounds in the past and i just feel like 2 picks is high for guy that will just get released later. But i think money is tight in Denver right now and they would rather give up some latter developmental picks now than get into a bidding war they just cant afford later. I know Robertson has not passed some physicals but he also hasn’t really missed any games. a guy like that will get bid on when he gets released.

I guess i just hope its the last two and not the first two picks in that list on scouts.

Thanks for your comments. I happen to agree. Although I wouldn’t mind this: a 5th rounder this year, and then a conditional 5th-7th rounder based on performance in 2009. I could sign off on something like that.

Will we have to wait till Draft Day for this trade to be consumated? I’m soooo tired of waiting…

    Just get er dun, Shanny!

Rumors are the trade could go down this week.

    Cheers.

I’m not real high on Robertson, but one positive out of this….it would keep us from taking Kentwan Balmer with the 12th pick….
