I’ve read every other predicter/sportswriter/blogger’s results from their Pick ‘Ems last week. And I’ve come to a simple, definite conclusion.
All hail me.
I had a great showing in Week 1, picking my way to 13-3 (counting the Colts, whom if you’ve read any of Power Rankings etc. you know I picked). So I praise myself and toot my own horn this week because I have a feeling these bragging rights will be short-lived.
The games this week are that mind-achingly difficult to predict.
Toughest Game to Pick – Packers @ Giants. If Eli plays, I’d pick the Giants. But it looks like he might not, so I went with the Packers.
Easiest Game to Pick – Chiefs @ Bears. One of these teams is an 0-2 caliber team.
Matchup | kmonty | Notes |
---|---|---|
ATL @ JAC | Stopping the run will be key for the Jags this time. | |
GB @ NYG | If Eli was playing, I’d pick the other way. | |
HOU @ CAR | Tough one to pick… AFC usually beats NFC, and I like the Texans more than the Average Joe in the “David Carr Bowl.” | |
BUF @ PIT | Buffalo plays with emotion, and doesn’t deserve to be 0-2. Could be an upset in the works. | |
NO @ TB | Although I think the Saints are overrated, they’ll still beat the Bucs without a problem. | |
CIN @ CLE | Cincinnati may be crawling up my power rankings soon… | |
IND @ TEN | How long will it be until the Colts lose? (Hopefully Week 4). | |
SF @ STL | My head hurts from pounding it against the desk now. | |
DAL @ MIA | Another NFC-AFC matchup, and I picked the NFC again. I’m gonna regret this, I know it… | |
SEA @ ARI | Cards swept ’em last year, and should have won last week. | |
NYJ @ BAL | No Ed Reed. No Johnathan Ogden. No Ray Lewis. Still better than the Jets. | |
OAK @ DEN | It’s Raider Week, people! | |
KC @ CHI | Fourth cross-conference match, and I chose NFC for the third time. | |
MIN @ DET | Vikings may be better than I thought. | |
SD @ NE | Patriots looked about a billion times more sharp than the Chargers Week 1. | |
WAS @ PHI | Eagles bounce back in a close one. |
Picks Against the Spread – Green Bay (2), Minnesota (3), Arizona (2.5).
With any luck, I’ll be riding my way to continued bragging rights next week.
