NOTES AND NEWS FROM DAY SEVEN OF TRAINING CAMP:

Saturday was all about goal-line work. It was a day for FULL pads (the only way to truly work on goal-line situations). And it was a hard hitting session — as would be expected. There were good plays on both the offensive and defensive side of the ball, but I think I’m most excited by the day that Andre Hall had. He scored twice today on the ground, once on a spin-move after some great open field moves and the the other was an acrobatic jump across the goal-line plane for another six.

Not that either of those plays was as unexpected as the touchdown pass thrown by RB Cecil Sapp to TE Nate Jackson during a rare trick play… Yeah, I think I would have been tricked by that too!

INJURIES & ATTENDANCE:

Further good news on Warrick Holdman, as he attended today’s practice. His MRI and X-rays all came out positive, so he wants to be able to return to the practice field on Monday. That’s a HUGE relief to players and fans alike. We’re happy that he’s OK and can continue to play.

Ben Hamilton was out again today due to a concussion. In addition to Hamilton FB Paul Smith sat out again today with a groin injury. TE Chad Mustard was also held out with his right hamstring injury. Marcus Thomas sat out with his right calf injury. Teyo Johnson was out due to a calf injury. Brandon Stokley sat out with his left thigh injury as did Marquay McDaniel (fourth day out) and Glenn Martinez (third day out). Tony Scheffler, Brandon Marshall, Rod Smith, Lamont Reid and Doug Niehuis were all still on the PUP list.

Wide receivers that missed some (or all) of practice included: Brandon Stokley was held out with a right thigh injury — thought to be minor. WR Marquay McDaniel was held out again due to his hamstring injury (that’s a total of 3 days out). Glenn Martinez was out for another day with a right thigh injury. Brandon Marshall and Rod Smith remain on the PUP list and today Javon Walker was even sidelined with cramping.
