[EDITOR’S NOTE 2007.06.22 – Yeah, this post didn’t translate too well to WordPress. It was heavy on the PHP and the like, and I still need to tweak it… sorry for the mess]

The Offseason Superbowl has arrived! Already I can throw my mock draft out the window.

[Jamaal Anderson]
Jamaal Anderson went to the Falcons at 8. My Mock Draft be damned.

[Jarvis Moss]
The Broncos take Jarvis Moss at 17. Photo Courtesy

[Calvin Johnson]
Calvin Johnson is (temporarily?) a Lion.

[Patrick Willis]
The best linebacker prospect became unavailable when the Niners took Patrick Willis at 11.

[Adrian Peterson]
Hey! I got one right! Adrian Peterson is a Viking at 7.

[Lawrence Timmons]
As if I didn’t hate the Steelers enough… they took my linebacker Lawrence Timmons (#83 in the pic) at 15.

[Marshawn Lynch]
The Bills, not able to take Patrick Willis, reach for Marshawn Lynch at 12.

[JaMarcus Russell]
As expected, Russell went #1 to Oakland.

BroncoTalk’s BEST VALUES AVAILABLE:

– Alan Branch, DT, Michigan

– Robert Meachem, WR, Tennessee

– Joe Staley, OT, Central Michigan

(13:30) And that does it for BroncoTalk’s Live Coverage! Gotta go to work, but I’ll keep this as a regular “blog post” for your viewing pleasure. For further coverage, I’d recommend Mile High Report.

(13:20) Cleveland stole the draft by getting both Joe Thomas and Brady Quinn. They gave up the kitchen sink for it though, giving up their 2nd this year and their first next year. Highway robbery by the Cowboys (who just so happened to invent the Value Chart). Kansas City is on the clock, and they’ll likely take Joe Staley or possibly Alan Branch.

(13:17) Dallas trades out! Cleveland will take Brady Quinn here!

(13:04) Jacksonville takes Reggie Nelson at our 21 spot. Receivers, Alan Branch, and Brady Quinn are falling like crazy. Interesting Pat Kirwan tidbit: that’s 9 consecutive defensive picks.

(13:00) Half an hour before I have to head off to work. I wonder where Quinn will fall. I wonder who Jacksonville will take at our 21. I wonder if Joe Staley will fall past Dallas and into Kansas City? Or would the Chiefs take Quinn at 23? It’s getting juicy just as I have to leave!

(12:58) Giants are up – the pick? Aaron Ross, another Texas DB, back-to-back.

(12:50) Tooting my own horn a bit, but my #1 rated non-DE just went to the Titans at 19. Above Reggie Nelson. Michael Griffin will see us on Monday Night Football in week 11.

(12:41) A bit ago, the Bengals took Leon Hall. I’m writing up stuff on Jarvis Moss now…

(12:27)The pick is in (it cost us our second 3rd round pick and our 6th). Everyone’s saying it’s Joe Staley… here comes the announcement. It’s Jarvis Moss, DE, Florida.

(12:23) TRADE ALERT We’re up at 17!!

(12:21)Jacksonville is on the clock, I’d probably guess they’d go Safety or Defensive End (Reggie Nelson/Jarvis Moss). I might be the only person in the world who thinks they could go Brady Quinn here too, but we’ll see. Also, rumors involving the Browns trading up for Quinn have been mentioned, with their 2 & 3 just about equaling our 21.

(12:16) Justin Harrell just went above Alan Branch as the 2nd DT off the board. We’re still in the Alan Branch business.

(12:08) The Packers are on the clock, and Sirius guys are saying Brady Quinn might go here. I have a feeling they might trade with the Chargers for Michael Turner. Then you could see San Diego target a corner or wide receiver. Gil Brandt thinks Meachem will go here.

(12:04) Little late getting this one out, but Pittsburgh took my guy Lawrence Timmons. Now Anderson and Timmons are both gone, and the only one worth 21 is Alan Branch to me. I doubt he’ll fall that far.

(11:53) The run on corners has begun! The Jets moved up to 14 to select none other than Darrelle Revis, Pittsburgh’s CB and arguable best of the bunch. I can’t believe they sold the draft for him. Bad pick.

(11:49)The Draft Genius Gil Brandt thinks the Jets have moved up to take Brady Quinn, Chad Pennington be damned.

(11:46) TRADE ALERT – The Jets are trading up! Rumors include Darrelle Revis, Brady Quinn, and Alan Branch. Please be the first 2, please be the first 2….

(11:40)Adam Carriker goes to St. Louis. BRANCH IS FALLING!

(11:30)Huge reach in my opinion, as the Bills take Marshawn Lynch, RB, California. Still no trades.

(11:25) Cool random pic generator, eh?

(11:18) Our MLB is gone now. Patrick Willis went ahead of Carriker to the Niners at 11.

(11:05)Houston picks Amobi Akoye, addressing the defensive line for the second straight year with a Top 10 pick. He’s definitely a project. The real news is that the Broncos still haven’t traded up. Unless it’s for Alan Branch or Patrick Willis, I hope we stay put.

(10:58) Likely suitors for Quinn are Carolina at 14, Jacksonville at 17, and Chicago at 31. Remember that Chicago has ammunition in Lance Briggs and could conceivably move anytime they want (given that the trade goes through). I’m shocked there hasn’t been a single trade yet. Will the Broncos trade with Kubiak?

(10:52)Surprise surprise! At first I thought they took Quinn, but they end up taking Ted Ginn Jr.! How far will Brady Quinn fall?!

(10:38) MY GUY IS GONE! Jamaal Anderson is a Falcon.

(10:29) The Vikes take Adrian Peterson, adding depth to RB behind (ahead of?) Chester Taylor. Their running game is now HUGELY improved. Atlanta is on the clock, and I expect the trade offers to Detroit to heat up with Brown and LaRon Landry off the board.

(10:18) Washington takes Landry, as expected. Apparently they were not able to move down, so they won’t draft again until Round 5. The Vikings are on the clock, and either Quinn or Peterson are possibilities (I would lean towards AP).

(10:13) Look for Miami to trade up for Brady Quinn

(10:06) Now the Redskins will definitely try to trade down. If they’re forced to stay put, likely selections are LaRon Landry and Amobi Okoye.

(10:04) Cardinals pick is in, and it’s Levi Brown, the Penn St. left tackle! Definitely the first reach of the day, but a solid pick nonetheless.

(09:58) The Bucs select Gaines Adams, but this still doesn’t change trade possiblities. I’m sure Detroit brass talked with Tampa brass and they decided they could continue trade negotiations if the Bucs picked Adams.

Trade rumors are rampant concerning three players: Oakland’s Randy Moss (to either New England or Green Bay), Seattle’s Darrell Jackson (most likely to San Francisco), and San Diego’s Michael Turner. Apparently the Chargers have received an offer for a 2008 first round draft pick and are considering that offer.

(09:53)Three picks in, and JaMarcus Russell, Calvin Johnson, and Joe Thomas are all off the boards. Just now the Bucs, who are on the clock, have submitted their pick (no word of a trade yet). You can follow live coverage on ESPN, NFL Network, or Sirius NFL Radio (like me).

Suprises So Far

Cleveland and Miami both passing on Brady Quinn is a big shock to me, taking Joe Thomas and Ted Ginn Jr. respectively. Justin Harrell going ahead of Alan Branch is good news for Broncos fans, while crazy for Green Bay fans. I was surprised Jamaal Anderson went ahead of Amobi Okoye to Atlanta, especially considering that new Atlanta Coach Bobby Petrino used to coach the 19-year-old prospect. It looks like Calvin Johnson might actually be wearing a Lions jersey in 2008 after all. Incredible. More to come…
