It truly is a small world.  Quarterback Peyton Manning, who signed with the Denver Broncos earlier in the offseason, is temporarily staying in Mike Shanahan‘s Cherry Hills Village home until he can find a permanent place to live in the Mile High City.
The house is considerably larger than the one Peyton stayed in when he visited the Broncos earlier in the year, when Manning stayed in wide receiver Brandon Stokley‘s son’s room.  The  35,000-square-foot mansion was finished in 2009, according to the Associated Press, about the same time Shanahan was fired as Denver’s head coach.
Though he’s no longer in Denver, Shanahan — now coaching the Washington Redskins — still has a presence in the area, with a home and restaurant located in Colorado.  Shanahan has maintained a good relationship with Manning and Broncos’ Vice President of Football Operations John Elway, who won two Super Bowls under Shanahan.
In March, Shanahan and his son, Kyle, hosted Manning to Shanny’s Denver restaurant during his free agency tour. Â During the meal, according to SI’s Peter King, Elway sent a text message to Shanahan asking him to “put in a good word for us.”
The threesome of Shanahan, Elway and Manning are an interesting trio — one to be respected, with ten combined Super Bowl appearances among them.  They’re still helping each other out, despite Shanahan no longer coaching in Denver.  That’s what good friends do.
Good ‘ol Shanny being good ‘ol Shanny.  Having the the Broncos under the guidance of Pat Bowlen, Elway, John Fox, Jack Del Rio and Manning is like a dream come true.  Having Shanahan help out any way he can is like a dream come true with an old friend giving your quarterback a place to stay.  Wonderful dreams.
