It appears the stage is set for quarterback Kyle Orton to be kicked out of Denver.
Mike Klis of the Denver Post reported this morning that the Broncos have placed Orton on the trading block. The Miami Dolphins have already expressed interest, as well as several other QB-needy teams. Trading Orton would free up $8.4 million in cap space but also leave Denver with just two quarterbacks on the roster, Tim Tebow and Brady Quinn.
The recent signing of undrafted college free agent quarterback Adam Weber gives Denver four quarterbacks, clearing the way for the team to deal Orton. A four-year starter at Minnesota, Weber comes in at 6-3, 220 pounds. He joins the Broncos after completing 909 of his 1594 (57.0) passes that went for 10,917 yards and 72 touchdowns against 51 interceptions during his collegiate career.
Weber, wide receiver Eric Decker‘s former Gopher teammate and quarterback, was ranked among the top 20 college quarterbacks heading into this year’s draft. Expect more UDFA signings to be announced throughout the day.
