Jarvis Green

The Denver Broncos have signed defensive end Jarvis Green, the team announced. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, it is a four-year, $20 million deal with $7.5 million expected in the first two years.

“Jarvis has a great deal of experience playing in a 3-4 system and will bring veteran leadership to our team,” General Manager Brian Xanders said. “We’re excited to add him to our roster.”

Green (6-3, 285) had been visiting with the Broncos since Monday. He is known as a versatile lineman with experience as both a run stuffer and a pass-rushing 5-technique in the 3-4, an element the Broncos couldn’t boast with consistency on their defensive front in 2009.

Green, 31, is the latest of a number of former Patriots to follow head coach Josh McDaniels to Denver from New England. Green started 12 games and tallied one sack for the Patriots in 2009.
