Brandon Marshall

Brandon Marshall has asked for a trade from the Denver Broncos. If you listen to him or his agent, his wish is going to be granted.

On his official site, in a blog post titled “Clearing the Air…”, Marshall writes:

To whom it may concern. Life is filled with change, and where I am in my life now change is probably best. It’s hard leaving an organization ran by one of the best owners in all of sports, and someone who’s been there for me through my ups and downs. The hardest thing was hearing Mr. B wish me luck in the future, but we both came to the conclusion that this is probably the best thing for me to grow on and off the field.

I thank the Denver fans who embraced my emotion and play on the field and showing me love every time I step outside my door.

So, according to Marshall and his agent, his meeting with Owner Pat Bowlen left little question as to his future with the team: there is none. Meanwhile, Head Coach Josh McDaniels told the Denver Post that discussions will continue, and he expects Marshall in training camp.

Who’s running the show here, Bowlen or McDaniels? We may soon find out…

Should the Broncos trade Brandon Marshall?

Boys – Now I’ve seen it all and at the ripe ol’ age of 33. I went on this punk’s blog and was checking out all the BS posts that supposedly “fans” put on there. Is anyone shocked when I say that the majority of them were SUPPORTIVE of Marshall? One guy said that Marshall is his kids idol and role model – wow, your kids going to grow up to be a convicted wife beater unless he can run a 4.4 and catch the football. So I chose to bring some reality to the blogs starting with the phrase: MONE – MONEY – MONEY. I pretty much took him to task on the trust issues, dropping catches, being a locker room nuisance, putting himself before the team, and wondering why he was so pro-team and McDaniels on NFL Access after Cuntler was traded (I didn’t write CUNTler though), only to end up pulling this. I made note of the fact that this is the same guy who after meeting with Goodell last year said all this crap about proving himself, putting the team first, being a man and growing up, all BS apparently. Furthermore, I let him in on a badly kept secret, he has trust issues with the Broncos? Maybe its likewise for a team that has a player who wants a big money extension but spends his offseason getting in and out of a police cruiser. Yeah I wonder why they won’t jump to extend you. In the end, like a bitch, I still admitted that I wanted him to stay.

I submit my comment and re-read it with pride when it was officially posted.

    Five minutes later – REMOVED.

What a little bitch. I guess he doesn’t want reality posted on his blog. Whatever, we own his bitch-ass. Play and play well with passion, ride the bench, or a #1 and other picks for this piece of s**t.

and yet you still continue to watch…way to try and make 104 receptions look like chump change. Eddie Royals three best games were against OAK, KC, and Cleveland, should we trade him to?

    Roshon
Not many receivers have over 200 receptions in the past 2 years…but more than a few receivers have had more than 12 touchdowns in the past 3 seasons. BM said it himself (although he was talking about JC at the time) stats don’t mean anything if you don’t win games. He could have caught 200 passes this season, but if he can’t put it in the endzone, what’s the point?

Jchase has a point. Points is what matters something Marshall hasn’t racked up. Royal has only 5 TDs but as a rookie thats not too bad. That’s not fair to Marshall though because he had Plummer mainly as his QB when they weren’t too pass heavy in his final year. However, Eddie Royal is handling things maturely with great production for his age that’s the main difference.

That is a good point, Mr. East, but there is a play that sticks in my mind with BMarsh. It was his rookie year, and the broncos were driving for a game winning TD, and Brandon let a decent pass (not perfect, but certainly catchable) slip right through his hands in the end zone. I don’t remember who it was against, but it was a loss and that play haunts me. It is my main memory of BM

I just heard on CBS 4 that we might ship Marshall off to Cleveland? Maybe we can snag either Braylon Edwards or Shaun Rogers and/or some other picks/players

  • roshon2411

East, give it a few years. Once he gets close to the end of his rookie contract, i’m sure he’ll be asking for money too. Remember, Champ Bailey whined his way out of Washington the same way Cutler did here in Denver. This is a business. Marshall has earned the pay check he deserves. What matters most is how you perform on the field. Has he been arrested? Yes, convicted only of the DUI. Has he been injured? Yes, but played 31 of the past 32 games. His performance on the field is worth a big contract. They’re already paying Shanny millions to sit at home. Pay this guy to be on the field. Remember only the signing bonus is guarenteed. The guy gets suspended, the Broncos aren’t going to owe him shit.

Jchase its sad that a rookie mistake is your main memory for BM. I hope your main memory of Elway isn’t him fumbling around as a rookie.

For me, the memory would be his 18 reception 166 yard performance against the Chargers or the effort he put into getting YAC. 1,000 combined YAC the last two seasons.

I cannot believe what has happened to this franchise. We used to be one of the most highly regarded places for players to play. We had a coach that demanded respect and an owner that stayed out of the way. In less than a few months, we have destroyed this franchise. When I listened to Pat Bowlen talk about how our team is not about one player, I agreed, but then I remembered all the many Super Bowl Team QB’s – Staubach, Bradshaw, Brady, Manning (s), and of course Elway. We traded away our chance not at one Super Bowl but at many of the next 10 years when we let Cutler go. He truly is that kind of talent. Now we are going to let Brandon go, another incredible, young talent with many years left to continue to do special things. I don’t understand why we didn’t leave the offense alone and hire a defensive-minded coach. I believe we are done as an elite franchise, we will be mediocre for years because our owner I believe, has lost his mind.

So true roshon, but you know how human nature is. Negative acctions are more memorable than good actions. It shouldn’t be that way, but what can I say. If BMarsh every made a career defining moment in a superbowl victory, as I saw elway do about 100 feet in front of me, I’m sure that would stick out in my mind.

  • http://myspace.com/paraleipsis jchase8410

This is the exact comment I left on BMarsh’s latest Blog.

You have got to be kidding me! You have to be out of your mind if you think any other team will offer anything close to what you are worth. I can’t see the broncos just letting you go for the bag of peanuts that is your trade value. I also can’t see them giving you a big contract until you prove that you are healthy, and can go an off-season without rehabing an injury or getting arrested. IMO, this is a VERY selfish move on your part, and contradictory to the things you have been saying about being on board with the TEAM and McDaniels plan. You said you liked the direction that the team was moving. Well prove to your fans who have had your back through all of your BS (and still do might I add) that you were not just blowing smoke. Show us fans the respect we deserve and tell us what your real motivation is…The medical staff? It is easy to blame them 6 months after the fact, especially when it gives you a reason to ask for more money. Is it the coach? You were on board with his plan, or so you said, until about a week ago. What is it? Don’t try to cop out with this better for me to grow BS. If this is about getting a contract extention, great, just come out and say it. If so I suggest you take a look at how Casey handled his business. He asked for an extention, and showed up every single day and worked his butt off with his team….ta-dah…he got what he asked for. This attitude of “I’m taking my ball and going home!” in the NFL is so ridicuous. This is a league of grown men playing a game for a living, paid ultimately by the fans. For people to act like my 7 year old and throw fits, plug their ears and say lalalalala until they get what they want makes me sick. How many of us “civilians” can act like that at our jobs and not be on the street, resume in hand that afternoon? Show up, MAN up, and honor your contract. Maybe then you would get the respect you THINK you deserve!

    Roshon & Jchase

It’s a very risky business when it comes to giving him money. Mainly you have to condider all the cap reasons but more on the fact that we are already giving Shany 20 million to, more or less, laugh his ass off. Then factor in all the players that you signed in free agency and what you are paying them. Then consider the 52 other guys that need to get paid come the season….and the coaches…and the big man. In today world money is not really anywhere and although it really little to do with the NFL it does get factored in. Now in BM’s case when are his best option. Here’s why. We have stood behind him through the first 100’s of arrests because as one of you pointed out, only convicted of one. Whether or not his did beat his girlfriend is something that we’ll never know but the point her is that the majority of his arrests are stemmed from the same woman. Every body fights with everybody. It’s human nature. My point not not eluding to BM’s guilt or innocence my point is that he’s been arrsted 8 times and only suspended one game. That right there tells me that there’s more to the story. Nevertheless, back to the money, he is on the brink of another suspension, which is why signing him is risky. On the other hand you can keep him around let his numbers plummet some and the go through an offseason cleanly. Then give him his payday. Make him prove to you that he “changed” instead of just saying the words.

He’s under contract which means the Broncos hold all the cards and they are looking at a royal flush.

I bang my head up against the wall every time someone says why couldn’t they just left the offense alone. Perhaps it was due to their 16th placement in the league in scoring or 25th placement in T.O.P.

  • TD30isMVP

Let him go, let everyone go that does not wish to be a Denver Bronco. I am not going to sit here and lament the loss of players that do not wish to be a part of this team. I would rather have a losing decade with guys I can root for and be proud of than have a winning team full of losers. I would rather be proud of the hard working guys on the field and not have to beg whiners, women beaters, and drama queens to play in order to win some games. This is not just a team, for Bronco fans, this is a part of our lives, our culture, part of who we are and I say leave, get out of town if you don’t want to be a part of my Broncos, I will be screaming for Hillis, pulling for Rulon, watching Moreno grow and cheering for all in the uniform.

I’m sure the combination of Buckhalter, Orton, and Gaffney, will defnitely be in the top 10 in scoring this year!

    East, You unconscious yet?

  • Dean

not sure why it turned out like that?

  • Dean

East, If McDaniels is the offensive wiz he’s supposed to be, than he should have been able to work with the #2 offense and improve on the areas they didn’t perform well, such as scoring.

Also, East Denver was 16th in scoring with 23.1 ppg. Not great but not horrible. The Saints were #1 with 28.9 ppg. 5.8 difference b/t 16th and 1st. Do you know how many games Denver lossed by less than 6 pts last year? The answer zero. So even if Denver was the #1 scoring offense the would essentially be at the same 8-8 record.

The offense didn’t need to be changed only needed to improve. McDaniels offense or adding Buckhalter, Gaffney, some of the rooks to a last years offense was all hat was possibly needed. Trading your pro bowl QB and possible #1 receiver is not going to help their scoring.

Besides blame the defense for the lack of scoring on offense. Maybe if they could get a 3 and out everynow and then, the offensive TOP and scoring would have been better.

  • http://myspace.com/paraleipsis jchase8410

The offense only performed we’ll for the first 3 games, and 1 game against the jets. Every other game was mediocre at best.

  • Dean

I don’t know, looked good against KC, ATL, and CLE too…but I guess you think they need to score 30 to look good on offense. I can’t believe you think the offense is to blame. When a defense gives up, 38,32, 33,41,30,31,30,30, and 52 i’d think defense was the reason Denver was mediocre.

Two teams gave up more points than Denver’s 28 ppg, St Louis (2-14) and Detroit (0-16) . In 2005, 2006, 2007 no teams gave up more than 28.
    East, Jchase

Yes the offense was at fault for this team going 8-8. If isn’t wasn’t for the likes of Cutler, Marshall, Clady, Royal and others. This team would have been worse.
