UPDATED 3/16 7:35 EST

It is possible that Gary Miller is pre-gaming a bit early, but let us error on the side of sobriety. Denver’s KCNC-TV’s Miller tweeted just moments ago that according to one of his NFL sources (Robert Ayers?) that the Denver Broncos would be moving on without Elvis Dumervil.

This would certainly end a whirlwind that went into full hurricane mode yesterday afternoon.

Today alone it has been reported that Dumervil fired his agent Marty Magid and he is rumored to have hired Peyton Manning’s agent Tom Condon. All of this setup against a backdrop of the Baltimore Ravens expressing ‘solid’ interest in the free agent defensive end, according to the Baltimore Sun Times.

UPDATE 3/16 7:35 PM EST:

Not so fast!

NFL Network’s Albert Breer says that he has been told that, “No decision has been made yet,” as to whether or not the Broncos will re-sign Dumervil.

As you can see, the story has changed just in the last thirty minutes. We will keep you up-to-date as we have all weekend as this story develops.

Noooo!!!!! this is the 1 scenario I didn’t want. If we traded him, fine, but while other teams get kings ransoms for their trash, we get nothing for our treasure! Why do we always suck at getting trades done. If Doom was on the Patriots team, they’d have found a way to get 2 first round picks for him even with everyone knowing their intentions. I’m livid.

  • linebeast

Dammit. At least we got a little more cap room and, maybe a fourth round compisation pick.

  • anthony33

I would hope this isn’t true. If Doom fired his agent then that tells me he he accepted the offer and wanted to be here. I asked the question earlier as to why the agent would reject the offer and then call back 25 minutes later and say Elvis changed his mind… Here’s why; because the agent said “no” on his own and when he told ED, ED called BS. Also, his agent continued to brag about all the calls he was supposedly getting. This is clearly 100% on the idiot agent.
I hope the Bronx and Elway don’t get pig headed now. Elvis fired this clown, that shows his desire to be a Bronco… go get the damn deal done.

  • Pete Baron

I mean, Carson Palmer was retiring instead of playing for the Bengals. He was already washed up and overall pretty mediocre, and the Bengals STILL got 2 first round picks for him. Meanwhile we have a pro bowl player in Doom that we not only get nothing for, but we lose almost $5 million of dead cap space for! Dammit Denver!!!! Get your shit together!!!! You are in my opinion the ABSOLUTE WORST TEAM in the entire NFL at getting anything of value for our players. They’re worse than the freaking Raiders! Damn you Denver….. DAMN YOU!!!!!!

  • anthony33

Dude… calm down. It’s Gary Miller saying it. It aint over ’til it’s over. Long way to go on this story.

  • Pete Baron

I’m trying my man. But still, name the last time we got anything if value in a trade we made with a good player?

But I’ll take a deep breath and wait for Schefter to confirm. Lol

  • nate

    Champ Bailey

  • Pete Baron

No, I mean a player we had that we traded away.

  • TheTroglodyte

    Clinton Portis

  • Pete Baron

    Smart ass. :p
    So 10 years ago. Lol

  • nate

It was Clinton Port is for Champ. Portis had back to back 1500 seasons

  • http://www.facebook.com/jeffrey.koch.5 Jeffrey Koch

please sign him, doom and gloom cant be over.

  • Pete Baron

So once in the last decade. Again, worst team in league at good trades. But good call. Lol

  • 12508

Doom played himself here. This deal should have been done weeks ago. He isn’t worth 12 mil a year and he knows it. Who does he think he is Reggie White? Give him the 5mil and let him walk. We can win this thing without him. Abraham can get 11 sacks in his sleep with Von on the other side. Doom can go to the Ravens and help them rebuild that defense. I’m starting to hate this guy more than Josh McBozo. We have options. Let’s use them.

  • Pete Baron

CBS is reporting that Doom wants to remain a Bronco.

  • nate

Just busting your balls man. I agree, but trades really didn’t start happening like they are now.

  • Pete Baron

I know that a handful of my friends are sick and tired of the drama and at this point don’t care either way just as long as it gets finality ASAP.

  • Pete Baron

I know, and I welcome the banter. My dream job would be a full time Broncos reporter. Too bad I’m not, so I have to do this in my very limited spare time.

  • http://www.facebook.com/leo.maes.3 Leo Maes

I have a feeling he will stay, but if he leaves I won’t hate the guy but to see his talent go somewhere else without anything in return is a kick to the stomach. What I don’t understand is I know he was getting paid a ton of money but they guy did have a lot of value and did a lot for us not only last year but years in the past. Should of just paid the man, believe my Dwight F. will not get us 11 sacks this year. Doom was and is a player which means he is a keeper. With that said, he stays… you don’t fire your agent cause he did good.

  • Pete Baron

    Amen brother

  • http://www.facebook.com/tyron.gauthier Tyron Gauthier

@pete baron. Who makes trades I. The NFL. When does a blockbuster trade happen. Never!!! Baseball hockey basketball yes. Football…..no. Why would a team trade for him knowing he would leave? Why not wait for free agency? C’mon man NFL trades?? Don’t happen. Why wouldn’t the colts have traded Manning…….hmmmmmmm???

  • Cheyenne Kid

I am not get benting about this. I agree that firing his f…..ing agent for Peytons shows he prefers to stay with the Broncos! He is part of the chemistry with Van and that is not a small matter, so it would be better to stay. But everyone forgets that more players will be released in near future so cap room will be added,so it is still possible to get one of the three best de’s that are still possible. Now the Owners Meetings are Sunday through Wednesday so any decisions probably wait until then unless Elway sneaks away to take care of something important like signing Doom or one of the others!

  • Pete Baron

I’m not talking blockbuster trades. I’m talking a retiring Carson Palmer nets the bengals two 1st round picks. That’s what I’m talking about. If we were ANYBODY besides the Broncos, we would have a minimum of at least a first round pick for Doom. Instead, they shit the bed and lost the player and $5 million!

  • Pete Baron

    Fingers crossed.

  • Doom92

    x2

  • Doom92

    Here’s to hoping…

  • Doom92

    Were you drinking again???

  • Pete Baron

Besides, Manning would have gotten a conditional 7th round pick. There was very real concern he’d never play again and would go out the first snap of the first game. Doom is a pro bowler, not a QB that most thought would be paralyzed after his first drop back.

  • Doom92

I loved seeing that dude leave. I love Knowshow in comparison…

  • Doom92

It is a painfull truth, but you are right…

  • http://www.facebook.com/tyron.gauthier Tyron Gauthier

They did not shit the bed. He would not sign. The guy just pocketed over 4 mill in his pocket with chances of signing somewhere else for 12mil. Possibly. They were led to believe he would be here for the 2013 season I’d say. He may have played denver like a violin. These things might be the true things that happened. Their intent was to sign him not let him walk away. They tried signing him and HE pulled a smooth move. If I’m wrong he stays with the broncos……if I’m right he goes to maybe Miami. Abraham is the answer and a deep draft at d lineman we will land future greatness. Not saying I don’t want Elvis hear I just feel this has allot to do with him. Fore his agent makes him look even better

  • Pete Baron

    Maybe… Lol.
You can’t drink all day if you don’t start early!

  • SivNiz

    Cutler

  • SivNiz

    Like they did with Welker?

  • Pete Baron

Abraham signed with the patriots Friday morning.

And I’m saying that they should have traded him instead of cutting him. Nobody will ever convince me that there isn’t at least 1 team that would give up a conditional pick for him. Instead, we cut him. Plan A should be pay cut, plan B should be trade, plan C should be trading him for a free buffet dinner in Blackhawk. There should never be a plan C that involves cutting him. Never!

When he didn’t agree at the 1pm deadline, they should have been on the phone to the handful of teams that you know offered at least something in trade. Instead, they were caught with their pants down like a pimple faced boy behind the bleachers waiting for the head cheerleader than never came. Pathetic!

  • Pete Baron

    +1
There you go. Our only good trade since 1983.

  • http://www.facebook.com/tyron.gauthier Tyron Gauthier

No need for a trade at the time. They figured he was signing. Which he did 6 minutes late. I don’t see how you are blaming the Denver brass here. As far as they were concerned he was staying a bronco

  • rcsodak

You dont get compensation for cutting players. Not to mention the number of FA’s brought in, again.

  • Pete Baron

Welker was a street free agent. He wasn’t cut and wasn’t on the team. It’s like comparing apples to door knobs.

  • SivNiz

    Marshall

  • Pete Baron

Nah, Marshall was worth way more at that time, but at least we got something. I’d take a 7th round pick over cutting Doom

  • Pete Baron

They gave the 1pm deadline. In that 25 minutes they should have either already traded him or had a team on the hook so that by 1:59, they would have faxed in the trade offer instead of faxing in the release. That’s where I blame the team. Everything else is pure blame on the agent.

  • SivNiz

We got two 2nd rounders. Name a better WR trade?

  • Pete Baron

For a WR that was considered too 3-4 in the entire NFL? Name a worse trade?

  • SivNiz

    But he’s not a top 3 / 4 wr…

  • Pete Baron

At the time he was considered somewhere in the top 3-4.

  • Jim_Jebow

Cassius Vaughn for Gronkowski was a solid trade

  • http://www.facebook.com/perry.forman.5 Perry Forman

The Palmer trade was widly panned. No one could believe someone would give up 2 1st rounders for him. And look at the state of the Raiders today. Sorry, but pointing to that trade is a very poor example of what the Broncos could have done. The standard in the NFL is to not offer to trade for someone you know will get released very shortly.

  • Pete Baron

You do realize that you’re my argument that the Broncos suck at trades even stronger, right? It’s simple then, don’t say you’ll release him at 1:59 if a pay cut isn’t agreed upon. Simply say he’s on the block or you’ll keep him. Total trade incompetence. Everything this front office does EXCEPT for these matters is fantastic, but this is an area that lacks big time.

  • http://www.facebook.com/tyron.gauthier Tyron Gauthier

Can’t trade him with thoughts there’s still hope. They had it done son dumberville screwed them or let the guy blame his agent. No fault to broncos. Opposite end they trade him for nothing and ur flipping. Lol. Again they had it done in plenty of time
