After the Denver Broncos promoted quarterbacks coach Adam Gase to offensive coordinator on Thursday morning, Gase told reports he wants Denver’s offense to put the “pedal to the metal” with quarterback Peyton Manning in 2013.

Obviously, that is something fans in Denver love to hear.  Not only does it excite the fans, but also a player that the Broncos will not want to lose this offseason.

Offensive tackle Ryan Clady allowed just one sack this season, and to keep himself healthy going into free agency, he has opted to skip the 2013 Pro Bowl.  In the final year of his contract, Clady will want big money to stay in Denver, but was excited to see Gase’s quote, re-tweeting PFT’s story simply stating: “Nice.”

Nice enough to convince him to stay in Denver?  Probably.  Nice enough to cause him to not force Denver to use their franchise tag on him this summer?  Probably not.

But the fact is, Clady performed well with Manning as his quarterback in 2012. And with the offense primed to be faster paced in 2013, Clady has no reason to leave.

I heard that, and that was precicely what I alluded to when news broke this morning about Gase being named the OC. I was HOPING (as you know) that he would be more aggressive. Well, according to Gase, we have our answer. Sure, John Fox can override anything and have Manning take a knee with 31 seconds left in a game, but it’ll be up to Gase to make sure that when Manning takes that knee, we’re up by 28pts.

    GO BRONCOS!!!

  • Pete Baron

Jeff Legwold tweeted about Mike Martz saying why Gase will be a good OC, “his intensity, his passion … he’s really smart. Not intimidated.”

Looks like we DON’T have a “yes man”… there is hope yet here in Broncoland.

Pete I think for the first time you are seeing the world through orange glasses…lol. I like it! BUT Gase will run things the way Fox wants it just like Mikey did. His first Coord job in the NFL and he is going to flat out buck his HC, I don’t think so for a min. However I can see him being a little more aggressive than Mikey but not like you guys are thinking.

As Kriegel says on NFL-Am “I’m just say’in”…lol.

  • Doom92

And that means we don’t have a “yes man”? All of those statements could mean a bevy of different things. But since it is from Mike Martz it has to be the gospel…lol.

And of course there is hope in Broncoland, there always is… Even when you have an ego maniac, even with a dude named Tebow.

Only the future will tell what we’ll have with this guy, until then its really 100% speculation from all of us.

I agree with Doom. Hey..Gase can call all the aggressive plays he wants in the 1st quarter, or when the game is out of reach, but when it really, really matters, 31 secs 2 timeouts tie ball game in the 4th for with the season on the ropes…Gase is going to be Fox’s yes man.

Fox even said earlier this week that’d given the same situation, he’d take a knee 10/10 times. A rookie OC isn’t going to change that philosophy.

Where Gase will, hopefully, be alittle bit more agressive is on the first 3 downs. Namely after a 1st down incompletion. For some reason, Denver always seemed to run right up the middle on 2nd down for little to no gain, now we’re in a 3rd and long. It happened much too often this season. And frankly, it was very frustrating. Not only that, the play calling just seemed very predictable with McCoy. We have a decent fast RB in Hillman. And a decently good blockin OL..are you telling me that you can throw a couple of screens in there to control the blitz? Frustrating. It seemed like McCoy liked to put all his eggs in one basket. ‘If this pass doesn’t work to one WR, oh well..we can punt”

  • Pete Baron

Yep, it’s all speculation, hope, and rumors.
I was saying that by Gase supposedly not being intimidated, that would mean that he won’t be a “yes man” because he won’t be intimidated to go immediately into a prevent offense at the first sniff of us being up by 3 in the second half.

  • TheTroglodyte

Nobody is going to flat out buck the HC though Doom so that can be said about every single OC in the league.

What I think Pete and I are counting on is a more aggressive attitude in general from a guy who at least will make his case and have the support of a VP who wants things being more aggressive.

Maybe if the kid goes in and has this offense playing lights out, Fox relaxes just enough to not coach like he’s been figging all afternoon.

  • TheTroglodyte

BTW I want props for working “figging” into my post :p

  • Doom92

I know brother-man, every since Sat I’ve been chippy as hell, even at work. Nothing puts me in a worse mood for a while than a Broncos loss and this one is still rubbing me the wrong way…lol.

Hey man I hope your right on but my money is on the fact that Fox will go to him just as he did Mikey and tell what to do and he will have to do it. Your right that doesn’t necessarily make him a “yes man” but when Fox tells him what to do he will do it. Hopefully he can get in a few punches before Fox tells him to throw the fight!!!

  • Doom92

LMAO… here, here… That was pretty flippen awesome!!!

  • Pete Baron

You and me both. I’ve been under a dark ass cloud since Saturday. I can’t seem to shake it. This loss stings. I couldn’t even watch but the first 2 drives of each game on Sunday cause I couldn’t stomach watching football. Hell, I’m hoping I can watch football this weekend, cause they should be great games, but I’m not sure I’ll make it more than the first few drives again. It’s bad brother, really really bad.

  • Doom92

Dude we have it bad ahy? I have not watched a full game either. Sunday the wife says “do you want to watch the Pats game?” My response “hell no I think I’m going to go pick up the dog crap in the back yard” and I did…lol. We are pathetic…lol.

  • Pete Baron

I would, but what does figging mean?

  • Pete Baron

    yeah we are. lol.

  • TheTroglodyte

lol type it into google or go to urban dictionary

  • LEMarkley

I feel the exact same way. I heard that The SF game was good, but couldn’t watch any of it. And I am so torn on who I want win the AFC game because I hate them both!

  • Pete Baron

    Outstanding!

  • LEMarkley

I would like to think that Manning will be so much more comfortable that he will just talk to Adam only and Fox won’t know what play I’d happening until it is happening already. I still feel like this year was still a feeling each other out year.

  • TheTroglodyte

    haha

  • Pete Baron

And then we wake up from that unbelievably perfect dream!

  • Pete Baron

Yeah. I don’t think I watched but 1 or 2 snaps from that game, and the first Houston and first N.E. drive of that game. haha. I can’t stomach it… not sure I will this sunday either.

  • LEMarkley

I watched the Atlanta /Seattle game, but again was disappointed in the outcome so barely watched the Houston game. Not sure I will even turn on the AFC game at all.

  • Jim_Jebow

I’m glad to hear I’m not the only one who is still in a crappy mood 5 days later

  • Jim_Jebow

wow caveman, that made my ass pucker

  • LEMarkley

Lol, right? I will just let the dream keep going as long as I can.

  • Doom92

That could be… Yes, I will dream it tonight and depart from my loss funk… ;-)

  • Cheyenne Kid

I am starting to come out of the funky divehangover we went through. What I think is he wants an upbeat overwhemling offense that comes out and gets in overdrive quickly. A lot of quick no huddle plays to keep the defenses on their heels and controlling the defenses instead of the other way around. I am going to try and watch this Sundays games, but will see how it goes. This is the first day I woke up and it took a while for it to get in my mind anyway, so progress of a sorts! Hope you all can do the same eventually.

  • TheTroglodyte

    LMAO

  • areferee

    Aww, SHUT UP!

I’m in a SWEET mood, damn it! :-)

  • areferee

Leave it to the CaveMan to find such an inarticulate, abusive, crass, offensive… and TOTALLY APPROPRIATE word. Way to go, ya figgin’ idjit! lol

  • TheTroglodyte

    LMAO

  • Bryan

The idea that you know what it is, that figging even exists, or that someone tried it and started a whole figging movement…..I don’t know what is worse. LOL.

  • Bryan

There are other NFL games yet to be played? I thought the season was over last Saturday…hmmmm..

  • 350legend

    Chemistry!!!!!!
