Round Five

137. Derek Carrier, WR, Beloit

You may be thinking, what the heck is a Beloit? To answer that question, it’s a small college in Wisconsin. At that small college in Wisconsin, a big wide receiver named Derek Carrier absolutely dominated his “competition”.

Playing at Beloit, Carrier had 75 receptions for 1,250 yards with 12 touchdowns.

The combine was Carrier’s playground. Carrier ran a 4.49 in the forty, a 6.69 in the six cone drill (speed-demon Stephen Hill ran a 6.88), and notched a 40 inch vertical leap.

The Broncos and several other teams (including the Raiders) have been very interested in Carrier. This rise in interest is correlated with his draft stock. Denver will have to take Carrier in at least the fifth (possibly fourth) if they want to land him.

Other Possibilities: If the Broncos have already selected a receiver like A.J. Jenkins or Kendall Wright they could for other defensive and or special teams players.

Corners DeQuan Menzie, Leonard Johnson, or linebacker Emmanuel Acho could fit the bill. Safety Brandon Hardin from Oregon State would work well here too.
