The Denver Broncos on are the verge of signing free agent quarterback Peyton Manning.  This will likely mean that the team will now trade fellow quarterback Tim Tebow, which has caused somewhat of an outcry among Tebow Bronco fans.

We want to know your take on the situation.  Do you think Manning, 36, is too old and too much of a risk?  Or, do you think he is worth the risk and instantly makes the Broncos a Super Bowl contender?

Be sure to vote in the poll below and tell us your thoughts in the comments!

Do you approve of signing Peyton Manning?

There needs to be a HELL YES option!  LOL!

I will always approve of my team. Being a fan keeps me from ever getting too down on any single move they make. Approve and Like are 2 completely different things. I definitely Approve the the move, but I don’t necessarily Like it, because it means bye bye Tebow. Manning is light years ahead of Tebow, but for how much longer? Man, it’s gonna hurt if we don’t win a superbowl with Manning, and then have to watch Tebow win a superbowl with someone else.

since the 2005 AFC championship we are pedestrian 44-52 record, any chance at a winner I am for.

  • colorancher

Of course YES!  Because he will be 36, should not matter. He is a HOF QB.. His neck? Should be fine after ready about the procedures and rehab.. Can’t wait for April 16th…

remember these words. they will be Elway’s legacy as a manager.

  • Anonymous

That they will. I predicted that if we don’t win or at least be competitive IN a superbowl within the next 3 years, Elway, with all his glory in this town, will be fired. I hope it never comes to that, and I really hope we see more trophies in the display case, but this is a huge gamble. Think the LeBron James pressure in Miami is high? Try the pressure Elway will be under if Manning doesn’t win and Tebow does.

    Paraplegic Manning > Tebow

    Manning at 10% >>> Tebow

    Manning at 50% >>>>>>>>>>>> Tebow

    Manning at 80% >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Tebow

This year is the year that Manning will get fully healthy, and get comfy with the new team. Next year is the year we make our run. It’s exciting though, knowing that Vegas has us as the 4th most likely team to win the superbowl already! Now I’m even more excited for the draft, because I won’t be sweating the “will Elway pick a QB?”, instead, I’ll be wanting to see us draft a defense like we should be doing even if we didn’t get Manning. Think we draft Weeden? I like him 3rd only to Luck/RG3, but he’s already 29 I think, so if Manning plays for say 4 tears, then Weeden would be 33-34 as our starter. I don’t like that at all, cause it’ll still take a few years to get feet wet in the NFL before he gets “good”, and at that time, he’d be ready to retire.

  • gmunny33

Yes, absolutely. If you get a chance to sign not just a future Hall of Famer but Peyton Frickin Manning, you do it, and you don’t think twice (unless you already have a quarterback on a similar level like Brady or Rodgers). He’s (apparently) healthy. There might be a risk involved but it’s absolutely one they had to take.

I hate to see Tebow go but to pick him over PM is just insane. Lets get back to being a feared team to play against instead of mediocrity. This 2011 season was one of the funnest seasons in years to watch but also one of the hardest to watch, apart from all the Tebomania that came with it.

I also do think Tebow would love to play and learn from PM, I really don’t see the need to trade him.

  • Anonymous

Which is exactly why I approve, but don’t necessarily like the move.

  • Anonymous

I like the comments so far today. They are making sense. Apparently Tebow the “QB” lovers don’t get up early.

  • Anonymous

Everyone needs to get past the fact we’re not keeping Tebow as a backup. He’s gone, just a footnote in Broncos history.

This last year was fun, and you’re right, equally frustrating. The wins were epic highs, but probably because all day, hope seemed mostly lost. I’m really trying to get fired up about Manning. Part of me is still in shock, which is keeping me from wrapping my head around it. Like I’ve said, Manning is light years ahead of Tebow. I caveat that with the “for how long?” question. But hey, Manning makes us contenders for as long as he plays. Tebow gives us hope of being contenders for 12 more years. Some pick “the now” and some pick “the future.”

I’d love for Tebow to sit behind Manning, but that just won’t realistically happen. He needs to start somewhere, and he’s warranted a shot somewhere with where he took this team. While I’m sure Tebow will say the right things regardless of how he really feels, the fans won’t support having both Manning and Tebow on the same team after what Tebow has done. The front office sure as hell won’t support the circus that will be here if Manning and Tebow are on the team together.

It’s because of these things that Tebow will have to leave. It’s unfortunate too, because we already paid Tebow a lot of his contract, and he’d do well by being in meetings and film study with Manning. What Tebow is lacking, is everything that Manning is. This means that Tebow would be a sponge for Manning’s knowledge, because half of Tebow’s sponge is fully saturated and even dripping with excess talent. The other half is practically bone dry and looking for a hydration source… Enter Peyton Freaking Manning! He’s the source, and Tebow’s sponge would have no choice but to start soaking up Manning’s intelligence.

Peyton Manning when he’s 90 will stull be a better QB than Tebow will ever become.

  • Nailstephen

Hell yeah I approve!! We need Manning even if it’s only for a couple of years. I commend Pat bolen & John Elway.

  • Arthomasvt15

It’s a sad day for me, this all could have turned out so great. Imagine 5-6 years from now if Elway mentored Tebow into a SB caliber QB. Denver would be the most beloved sports story in history. Denver would be america’s team. Elway would be a legend.

Now you have Manning……     he will always be remembered as a Colt. Not a Bronco. If Manning wins…. he won before Elway, he won before Denver……….. If Manning fails………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………..

Wouldnt want to have to answer the questions John Elway is gonna get.

Being a great player doesnt make you a great manager. See Jordan for an example.

  • colorancher

I like Weeden.. But you make a good point with him behind PM that long.. I think the FO will make some good choices.. Listen to Spano: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-cLze1FYegk   .. Got me pumped up!!

  • Arthomasvt15

    time will tell……..

Lets see if Manning makes it to the 2nd round of the playoffs this year.

  • Greg

My take is simply this: The Broncos made it to round 2 of the playoffs with Tebow, without 96 million or bringing in centers, receivers, and tight ends. Shelling out that kind of money and bringing in so much to make Manning successful has to yield a Super Bowl, or it is a bust. Just my opinion. Elway mortgaged the franchise on Manning. I do not doubt Manning at all, but even with the new additions, I am not sure it will all end in a Super Bowl. We shall see. If it doesn’t, then it was not worth it. Either way, I hope Tebow is traded away, for his sake.

  • colorancher

How many of those wins came from fumbles(at the last second) on side kicks, overtimes.. It won’t happen again.. Yes last year was  magical year.. But in my opinion, I want to win some games by 20, watch multiple touchdown passes.. Not watch three quarters of three and outs!!!

Or Matt Millen with Detroit for an NFL example.

I just hope we win a championship now, cause it kinda feels like we sold our soul, ya know?

  • Anonymous

I’ll always say that it’s ignorant to proclaim such things about anybody, regardless of if it eventually comes true or not. Nobody knows what the future holds for Tebow. We do know that Manning is maybe the best QB ever, but we really don’t know what Tebow will become.

I fully understand why Elway did this, but that doesn’t mean I have to 100% like it. It almost feels like we sold our soul, ya know? I support the Broncos, and will only get more excited about our future as the minutes, hours, days, and months go on, but right now, I’m still kinda in shock, and still kinda sad that this means that we’ll never see Tebow on our team again. Kinda like losing your kids in a divorce and watching someone else step in and be a parent to them. He’s our kid, I want to watch him grow up in our house.

  • pey-pey

yeah, they not as smart as we are :)

  • Arthomasvt15

you did sell your soul. You gave up a loyal devoted and honest man of character who would have gave you everything he had every second of every day in every practice, every workout and every game for the Colt’s leftovers.

Manning is great, no denying that…… whether or not this made the Broncos a better team is yet to be seen.

but there was no honor in this decision. I would have more respect for Elway if he got rid of Tebow the moment he got there.

    Ok, here’s the thing, the
Broncos were in shambles before Tebow took over. With his unorthodox
style of play and his faith and leadership, he was able to carry the
Broncos to their first playoff win in 6 years! The gratitude that he
got for all he did for them… He gets
replaced a few months later! Do I feel bad about this? Absolutely!
That being said, I have seen Peyton tear apart the Broncos every time
they have played for the past decade because he is one of the best to
ever play the game. 27 or the 32 NFL teams were vying for him. He
chose the Broncos, and I honestly can’t blame them for taking him. I’m
conflicted. But I will be aTebow fan and a Bronco fan always. I still
Hope he stays on, but if he leaves, I hope he proves the Broncos wrong
    for letting him slip away.

All I know is that the 1st time we see Manning hit Thomas or Decker in stride for a TD en route to a blowout win, I’ll be jumping and cheering every bit as loud as if it had been Tebow throwing that pass.

This is why I’m a Broncos fan first, Tebow fan second. I’m sad to see him go, but fully understand why Elway made the move. I hope Tebow stays, but I also know why there is probably only about a 1% chance of that happening. Quite a swing of emotions from a guy (me) who was pissed that we drafted Tebow in the first place. I’ve grown to like him and respect him both on and off the field, and I really do wish him the best and hope he becomes a HOF QB, even though I’ll be cheering for us to beat him each time he plays us.

  • OrangeCrusher77

This Tebow stuff is just plain silly. He’s not NFL QB material and now that the Broncos have squeezed out as much cash as possible peddling jerseys to Tebow’s weird national following, they’ve made a great move to make the Broncos relevant and competitive again.

  • OrangeCrusher77

This is probably a good thing for all parties. The Broncos get a desperately needed quality QB and can dump the freakshow that Josh McDaniels saddled them with when he drafted Tebow. Tebow can go out on a high note, having backed the Broncos into the playoffs despite his spectacularly miserable play as a starter. Manning comes to a team that has a solid defense, some offensive weapons, and a loyal fan base that appreciates real football talent. Bronco fans have gotta be excited about the 2012 season!

  • Anonymous

My goodness, that was a trip down memory lane!!! I remember exactly how I felt and the reasons I was fed by Shanahan as to why each move was that “1 person away” move that we needed.

  • Anonymous

I’m getting more excited with each passing second. This comes to no surprise to me, because whenever the Broncos have made sketchy moves, I always start out bewildered or shocked, and then slowly work myself up to the point that I’m predicting 19-0 each and every season but last season cause of Orton! This season, I’m sure, will be no different from my norm when the calendar flips to August…

    GO BRONCOS!!!

No one is in disagreement with the fact that Tebow works his balls off and is a great person. He is. But he sucks as a QB. Popularity contests and below average QB skills may win some games, but it’ll never win championships on the professional level. And this organization is in the business of winning championships. I trust EFX to do what is best for this team, not what’s best for Tim Tebow and his cult of fans.

I think we draft Weeden if he was 22. We’ll still draft a QB. We have to. I think it’ll be Foles or Osweiler tho. BJ Coleman could be a sleeper later on in the draft. Plus there’s always Weber. We are in a much better position to get our future QB groomed and ready to take over post-Manning. Kind of like Favre and Rodgers, Montana and Young, Bledsoe and Brady.

  • Anonymous

Let’s hope. In a perfect world, Tebow would be entering the draft this year so it could be Manning mentoring Tebow, but hey, we can’t have our cake and eat it too. lol.

I don’t like any of the QBs past Weeden any more than I like Webber, so hopefully we either draft a “sleeper” QB way late in the draft, or pick up an undrafted free agent QB.  We should wait for the “right one” to begin the grooming process, not simply pick whatever is left for us this year. But who knows, maybe mr. right is in this draft, but I’m thinking next year will offer more good QBs that fall in the draft than this year.

this poll is definitely showing that people are more happy about Manning being here than not.
