The 2012 NFL season-opener has been scheduled to be played on Wednesday, September 5th. Â The game will mark the first Wednesday night game since the 1948 season.
The defending Super Bowl-champion New York Giants will host the game. Their opponent will be announced when the regular season schedule is announced. The game, which is traditionally played on the first Thursday of the month, was moved back to Wednesday so as to not interfere with President Barack Obama’s Thursday night speech at the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte.
In ’08, NFL pushed back kickoff game 90 min. b/c of a McCain speech — & had worst Kickoff Game viewership ever. Moving to Wed. justifiable.
