Denver Broncos power rankings from around the web. The Broncos generally had their highest jump of the season following their 38-24 win in Oakland. (Previous week’s ranking in parenthesis)
ESPN: 23rd (28)
They drew the Raiders at the right time and are only a game off the pace in the AFC West.
FOX: 21st (26)
It was fun watching QB Tim Tebow run (literally) up some yards, but I don’t think we know any more about his ability to play in a pro system than we did last week. Unlike Cam Newton in Carolina, Tebow must win all of his starts if he wants to prove to John Fox and John Elway that he deserves to be the long-time starter in Denver.
CBS: 27th (28)
If they can run the ball the way they did against the Raiders, Tim Tebow will win some more games. He won’t need to pass.
National Football Post: 24th (27)
Tebow earns another start and the Broncos are back in the AFC West mix.
Walter Football: 23rd (24)
I found it absolutely ridiculous that John Elway planned to bench Tim Tebow if he had another poor performance. Like Lord Elway never had two bad games in his career.
What would benching Tebow have accomplished? A chance to see Brady Quinn in action? Get real.
Is it just me, or do Elway and John Fox seem like bad guys from a cheesy 80s movie? I’m half expecting Tebow to fight them in the All-Valley Karate Tournament.
The Computers
USA Today Covers: 22nd (27)
Power Ratings compute offensive and defensive statistics into one number for each team, while accounting for factors like recent performances and strength of schedule.
WhatIfSports: 28th (31)
WhatIfSports.com utilizes its football simulation to rank all 32 NFL teams. To come up with the rankings, each team plays every other team 10,000 times
