Eddie Royal to the house!

Tim Tebow gets by with a little help from his friends.

On Sunday, his friends didn’t just “help” — they dominated.

Running back Willis McGahee burst free at the very end of the third quarter with a 60-yard touchdown run, totaling 163 yards rushing against the Oakland Raiders. Wide receiver Eddie Royal returned a punt 85 yards for a touchdown and caught a 26-yard touchdown pass as well.

The defense stepped up in the turnovers department, with Champ Bailey intercepting Carson Palmer twice and Chris Harris adding an interception of his own. Elvis Dumervil registered his first sack of the season (1.5, sharing a sack with Von Miller), and the Denver Broncos dominated the 2nd half of their Week 9 football game in Oakland to defeat the Raiders 38-24.

Tim Tebow was efficient in the air and dangerous on the ground. He threw for 124 yards on 21 attempts (10 completions) and two touchdowns, but more impressively, he rushed for 117 yards. It was the first time the Broncos have boasted a 100-yard-rushing running back and quarterback in the same game in over three decades.

The win over Oakland (4-4) left the Broncos (3-5) as the only team in the AFC West to win in Week 9; both Kansas City (4-4) and San Diego (4-4) lost their respective games. They may be last in the division, but the Broncos are also one game away from the division lead with eight games to play.

Haters gonna have to take a vacation day monday.

    What a game! Go Broncos!

  • Rlasnier

Don’t know if you were aware, but Tebow is the first quarterback this season to rush for over 100 yds.  Rick

  • Kellyleephipps

    Occupy Oakland!!!!!!

Broncos destroy the Raiders 38-24 in the Black Hole…we Occupied Oakland baby!Broncos destroy the Raiders 38-24 in the Black Hole…we Occupied Oakland baby!

Did it feel good to run the ball down their throats for a change or what???

  • Anonymous

Don’t care what the two sides of the Tebow debate have to say about the game…WE BEAT THE RAIDERS BABY!!!!!!!!

  • Anonymous

Uh, nope.  I’m not going to take a vacation from hating on Tebow (could’ve used Teblow.)  Tebow sure did suck it up in the first half.  If it weren’t for those penalties from the Raiders, those two scoring drives (and the 3rd where Prater missed that easy 43 yard attempt before the half), Denver most likely would not have won the game.  Yeah, yeah…  Denver won the game.  Tebow certainly did improve in the 3rd quater.  By the end of the 3rd, Denver was running over the Raiders D-Line pretty easily.  So while Denver won, Tebow didn’t really help his cause overall, as he played pretty mediocer.

I honestly would have rather seen Denver lose.  I want Denver to be in a good position with the draft, to pick up a better QB.  They won’t likely get Luck, but they sure could get Kellen Moore.

  • Kellyleephipps

Yes, that run where McGahee just plowed over a defender in the middle of the field was an iconic moment in our return to greatness!

  • Rlasnier

I’m sure folks would find fault with Kellen Moore as well.  He’s a proven winner with his college Broncos, but I think he’s only 5′ 11″.

  • anthony33

    I liked:
The shotgun with Willis lined up next to Tebow.  They were extremely effective from that formation.

The fact that Tebow improved in the second half, as did everyone else.

The passes where he rolled out from under center, got set and threw.

He will improve as he starts to better understand where to go with the ball.  Still has a long way to go there.

It appears that McCoy is starting to figure things out in terms of what to run.  He ran empty in one series (got scorched) after scoring with Willis back there in the previous series and then immediately went back to Maghee and Tebow in the next series… touchdown… nice adjustment.

    Didn’t like:
The shotgun formation with an empty backfield.  Scrap it, our line cannot block in when we have to pass.

  • Hansen

Moore is the same size as Drew Brees.

  • Wwqq4321

And why would the Broncos want Kellen Moore? He plays on a team that plays an easy schedule every year!! There’s 8 qb’s that will get drafted ahead of him.

  • Anonymous

My point is that Moore is a QB, not a FB trying to play QB.

  • Anonymous

Ryan Clady played on that same team

  • Rlasnier

Even though he plays for Boise State, he does put up big numbers against the teams on his schedule.  Brees played his college ball in the Big 10 @ Purdue, so I believe he played against better competition during his college career.  However, remember Brady was a 6th round pick by the Pats that many other teams passed on.  And look at Cam Newton this season.  How many fans would have thought he would have this kind of success his rookie year?  Not me…..Rick

  • Davidl413

Monty, still hoping for a Kyle Orton return?  Let’s admit that was an impressive performance by Tebow.  Far from perfect, and plenty of room still to grow, but Tebow responded well under a great deal of pressure.  Through 6 career starts he’s 3-3 for a below average team.  I hope if nothing else, we can stop the Orton/Quinn talk and see what this guy can do in the 2nd half of the season.  Great team win by the Broncos today.

  • Troyn

“I honestly would have rather seen Denver lose.”  That’s all I need  to hear from you.  Get bent, and go root for a team that accepts people rooting to lose.  Insane.  You hate TT so much you want your team to lose?   Really?  Tebow played pretty damn good in this great team win.  Can’t see that, you’re blinded by your prejudices.  I don’t want you on my side, go root for a fair weather team like the Chargers.

  • Rlasnier

I think John Fox needs to play Tebow to see if can play the quarterback position at a high level and be successful because he’s the only QB under contract after this season.  From a business stand point, Tebow will put fans in the seats and this is a business ($$).  After all, I believe his jersey was the top selling jersey last year.  If not #1, it had to be in the top 5….Rick

  • TinFL

Sweet victory.  Great team effort.  Anytime a team can go into Oakland and tack on 38 points, it’s just fine.

Not what the Raider’s, or anyone else expected.

  • Djcrx

    BRONCOS OR NADA!!!!!

  • NMBronc-in-DC

Of course you would rather they lose, all Raider’s fans shared that opinion today.

  • NMBronc-in-DC

Beating the thugs is always sweet.  It is this simple, if Tebow works out, we are one player closer to a championship and can draft Def in the first round.  There is plenty of room to grow, but today, Tebow improved.

AND we are ONE game out of first.  Tebow showed improvement, the O-Line showed improved run blocking, the Def stepped up and the running game….out of nowhere.

    GO BRONCS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11

  • Broncos

Whether you win by one point or 60, you WIN.  The broncos did win.

  • King

“I honestly would have rather seen Denver lose”

    You’re a great fan.  Not.

News flash for you: we’ve won too many games to get Luck.  He’s headed to Indy.  The fans there are starting to talk about trading Manning to get him.

  • AtomicLeo

Not a hater of Tebow, but still think we need to draft a QB next year.

He played well in parts, had one good series at the beginning of the 3rd quarter. Still held on to the ball too long and thankfully the Raiders couldn’t mount a decent rush with 4 guys and he got away with it. When we play sloppy teams or teams that can’t press him, he’s a serviceable QB.

Mcgahee was a beast today and kudos to the O-line just running over the Raiders late in the game and putting it away.

  • jrod

You would rather lose…sounds like you really know what you’re talking about

  • TinFL

When are we going to get Moderators that are actually Denver Bronco fans?

  • Biff

You’re a moron. If you knew anything about football, you’d know Kellen Moore couldn’t carry Tebow’s jock. Sure Tebow needs to improve in certain areas but bottom line, he’s a winner. Always has been and will be in the pros too. Denver needs to improve in a lot of areas and their focus should be on the defensive side, not losing to acquire another QB. They have one that can get it done. We’ll see what Moore and Luck does in their first few starts in the pros. My money’s on them playing mediocre. Tebow’s 3-3 in his first 6 starts, I’ll take it.

  • Duckface731

hey boomer should they still cut tebow!!!    Idiot!!

  • Duckface731

cut tebow cut tebow cut tebow!!!!!  haha!!!!!!!! dummies!!!!

    You are a certified idiot!

The Fox & Elway hate Tebow crowd are silent and the worshipers have returned.

  • Anonymous

Where will Kno-gain Moreno be next season?  After last week Tebow had nowhere to go but up though it looked pretty bad at half-time.  He did improve and if he continues to improve then Elway and Xanders can use a draft pick on other needs.

  • crazykid

speaking of Clady, what was his problem today? He was aweful…

  • Kody

what a good fan you are…… already giving up on the season and hope we loose? i can already tell that tebow is more of a man than you will ever be.

  • Anonymous

You are still squakin’ about Kellen Moore? NEVER happen!

  • roshon2411

Today’s game didn’t prove that Tebow can be a QB in this league.  But I’m just glad to have a QB that can show up in the second half of a game and give me hope Denver can win the game.

From the moment Denver traded Cutler for Orton, I was ready to turn the page.

Quinn or Tebow I don’t care, as long as it’s not Orton.

Everyone should have known Orton was garbage the moment he was benched for Grossman, and everyone should have known McDaniels didn’t know what the hell he was doing the moment he tried to trade Cutler for Cassel.

I’m sorry these two a$$clowns took a first class organization and made them Bungals-esque.

  • Anonymous

    Amen!!!

Yeah Clady played at that school (not that team) but he was and is a top LINEMAN, big difference, as I’m sure you know. I’d be very surprised if he even gets drafted and if he does it will be real late, 6th-7th round at best.

  • Anonymous

Seriously??? One play??? I didnt see a bunch of sacks from that side… Did you?

  • Anonymous

I’m extremely surprised that some are actually saying they would have rather seen us loose??? I have to agree, thats not a true fan…

I NEVER want to see us loose, even last year at the end of the season when we were biding for the early pick I still watched and cheered in hopes of winning.

With that said it is damn hard to watch this secondary. Even with a couple good plays Goodman has to be replaced next year some how. As well, although it was a fun game and called fairly well, there were a number of gawd awful offensive play calls by Mikey!!!

Then even after a return for a touchdown they throw Cosby out there again to return??? Just don’t get, Cosby does nothing but field the ball, period. Then again if that is really all you want out of your return game then he is awesome…lol.

  • Anonymous

I liked the Kno-Show part… I’ve said since the begging, he is a serious bust. Every one makes such a deal out of Tebow being a 1st RD pick and not working… Well Kno-Show was taken way earlier in the first and we never hear what a waste that was… None-the-less he shouldn’t be here next year and even if he continues do do fairly well Tebow isn’t the answer for us at QB and we will need one!

  • Anonymous

They wont need to trade Manning, Luck will sit behind him for a couple years and will absolutely end up being a great place for him. If he is lucky (pun intended…lol) this will be exactly what happens for him…

  • wyrob

the team is going a new direction, orton is not part of that, yet he has been all class since his demotion.  piling on him now is pointless and a little lame.

  • Anonymous

Moore is much smaller than Drew Brees. Brees measured 6’0 at the combine and Moore will be lucky to hit 5’10. On top of that how many 6’0 QB’s have succeeded in the last 20 years that were 6′ or under? I can name 1.

  • Anonymous

He had 4 holding penalties called on him.

  • Anonymous

I really want to get Trent Richardson in the 1st. Too bad we probably have to go QB instead. Maybe Teebs will wake up tomorrow and his arm will suddenly be working.

  • BroncosNOSHOW

Nice to see the whole team show up today! THAT WAS THE DIFFERENCE! Tebow played and showed up for every play, like he has done in the last 3 games. The difference was that the rest of the team showed up today. The defense played well, the running backs did their job and special teams showed up with a Royal touchdown. Amazing when you give Tebow protection. 1st half no protection and he still got a touchdown, in between getting hammered from no help from the O line. 2nd half, a little protection and his passes were right on target with the two touchdowns. Hmmmmm Kelen Moore will not do any better with a line that can’t protect him! Even Luck will have No Luck in Denver, if he has no team that can help him. A new O line should be the primary thought for the draft. And number 17 needs to go as a punt returner. He hasn’t gained more then 5 yards on one punt this year. Royal? Decker? Anyone else but this guy.

Wow, I certainly struck a nerve with the dim witted, 4 year old fans out there.  So, with this awesome, huge win that will certainly propel us to the top of the AFC West… neigh, AFC Conference, we will blow out the Green Bay Packers in the SB?!?!?!  Are you friggin kidding me?  I’m the idiot?  I’m the moron?  You who started to gang up on me calling me names (which I thought this was supposed to be a family oriented fans blog site, but apparently not) think I’m blinded and a fair-weather fan?  Hell no.  I do want this team to win.  But, this season is lost.  Period.  Anyone else that cannot see that is THE idiot and moron.  I don’t live in the bubble of fan oblivion.  I live in reality.  The Denver Broncos do not have a good team on the field.  I for one feel for players like Bailey and X, as both should not only have a place in Canton, but SB rings on their fingers.

Whether it’s Kellen Moore, Matt Barkley, Case Keenum, or someone else who actually knows how to read defenses, can make an accurate throw…  you know, a real QB, I will not support Tebow (unless he proves me wrong, which I do not believe he will.)

Look, Denver played like a team today.  They played some good football on all three groups of football.  But don’t expect us non-Tebow supporters to just all of a sudden get on the bandwagon with Tebow.

  • Anonymous

    Well said.

  • Anonymous

Impressive performance from Tebow?  I think not.  Did he have some good looking throws?  Sure.  But a clock is always right twice a day.  I don’t want Quinn in there, much like I don’t want either Tebow or Orton (although, I don’t know what’s up with Orton this year.)  I think stats play a huge part of the game.  And right now, Tebow’s doesn’t stack up against the rest.  Sure, this was his 6th start.  But, he’s not the anointed one.
