The Denver Broncos released their first 2011 depth chart Monday, three days before their preseason opener in Dallas.

The offense fell more or less as expected, with Tim Tebow securing the #2 spot above Brady Quinn but still below Kyle Orton.

The recent defensive line mash-up sees Brodrick Buntley and Kevin Vickerson starting at DT with the higher-paid Ty Warren and Marcus Thomas filling backup roles, while rookie Rahim Moore solidifies his solid camp with a starting nod at free safety.

It’s really exciting to see a healthy Elvis Dumervil back on the depth chart, along with the new blood on the defense. Check the full depth chart below.

What I Like: Von Miller starting, Elvis back in the lineup, Rahim Moore starting.

What I Don't Like: The Who-Dat lineup behind the O-line starters, Nate Irving at 3rd string and Thomas buried behind 3 other guys at WR.

  • herc_rock

What?!?  Manny Ramirez is one of the greatest right handed hiters of all time.

  • http://broncotalk.net Kyle

Demaryius was the one big surprise on the O.

  • Josh

    Thomas is hurt…

  • td30ismpv

No kidding, he is out for like half the season so it was good to see his name on there at all.  Unless you are one of the guys with him…you know the same on the depth chart as someone who is recovering from surgery and has no hope to play yet…that would suck.

  • crazykid

Oh comeon. Syd > Nate Jones.

  • johnnyspot

Banged up Thomas won't play this year, he may play some next year but he's pretty much done, book it.

  • NMBronc-in-DC

D definitely looks better, but it will take a year.

As for the O, with Ortonita behind center I hope our kickers are up to the task.

  • John Elway 8========D

Is it just me or does our Defense actually look pretty good?  I think we'll surprise people.

  • http://broncotalk.net Kyle

D.J.'s been hurt too but he was listed with the #1's (although he did practice fully today… just still surprised to see Prime so low, even due to injury, but I won't think more of it).

  • http://broncotalk.net Kyle

It's full of potential in a lot of places but it's hard to get excited about that defensive line.

  • Rcsodak

    Why? Has he been practicing?

  • http://www.broncotalk.net Josh Temple

This is one of the most perplexing things to me, I wish I had time to attend camp this year.  Andrew Mason keeps saying how Syd is killing in camp so far but he's not sure if he has the physical skills to overcome Goodman for that other corner spot.  Either the guy is playing well or not.  I wish someone would elaborate that has seen him this camp.

  • Bogus

Thomas is likely buried because of his injury.

  • Rcsodak

Why? Not every team can have pro bowlers at the same position. Vick is good vs the run, as is warren. If bunkley can match his play with his look as he steps off the bus……..
Get past the big name players they didn't get. This is a start to a rebuild thru the draft.

  • BroncoMan24

I am surprised to see Ty Warren as a backup.  Has anyone seen his play since he joined us?  I am curious if he was bad in training camp or they just trying to ease him in?  Anyone know?

  • http://broncotalk.net Kyle

I'm not trying to be critical, you know I love my Broncos and would love to be proven wrong, but I am keeping it real. That defensive line (except Elvis) does not excite me, that is all.

  • http://broncotalk.net Kyle

He's only had a handful of practices due to the free agency/practice rules.

  • Joelin303

Julius Thomas whom they have been raving about all camp is in 5th spot ?? WTF?? theyre sitting there saying he could be the next Antonio Gates but he's on the bubble of about to be losing his job?? These broncos execs just continue to defy logic huh..

  • Bronco101

Darcel McBath is the best safety on the team Brian Dawkins is washed up

  • CJ

go wash your mouth out with battery acid.

  • VinceMarine

My guess is they will keep 4 TE's. Im also guessing and hoping that Quinn and Gronk will be the two left out. Remember this is just the first depth chart released.

  • TheTroglodyte

What is everyone getting so excited for? lol this is a typical pre game 1 lineup. EVERYONE's name except for 5 or 6 players is penciled in. There will be changes going into game 2 and again before game 3 and then again before the start of Reg Season game 1.

Where people are now means absolutely nothing unless your name is Champ, Doom, Clady or Dawkins

We have to keep Thomas our little secret so that the Raiders don't scout him!  And then come the home opener – bam!  He'll take them apart, just like Eddie Royal did.

DJ will probably play the entire year (and is the incumbent starter), whereas Thomas will be out for awhile longer and still has stuff to prove.

Here's to hoping he'll recover fine.

  • MrEast

Yeah the defensive line terrifies me.

  • http://thingsatrexdoes.tumblr.com Mike Birtwistle

You could actually get excited about those linebackers!

Rather than DJ being down for 1st string in every position and Nate Webster's helmet at MIKE

  • http://www.broncotalk.net Josh Temple

Ayers is great against the run, it killed us after his injury last season, I just don't know if he's ever going to be a pass rusher.

  • Mike

You be nuts? Oh, don't worry I am

  • lethylg

Jerome Boyd, who is in camp with the Raiders, is engaged to Julius' 1st cousin. Oh, and he plays strong safety. If any team knows about him it's the Raiders.

  • lethylg

You're right, but.  For him to keep working hard, keep pressing, they have to make him at least think it's not that easy and/or he still has work to do versus walking in with 11 games of exp. and being #1 on the depth chart.  Even though I think he his the #1 TE on the Team.

  • ad91968

Okay, think out of the box here.  Tebow is a power in the red zone, not for his arm, but for his feet.  I think the Broncos should put Tebow as #3 QB and use him as the Dolphins used Brown in the Wildcat formation.  Not to take away from TT's growth, but he can learn the ropes from the sideline while still being able to play every week.  It's a win-win for both…especially the Broncos because they have the best QBs on the staff in the #1 and #2 positions, with Tebow getting the chance to use his skills from a “modified” position.
