3rd Round draft selection Nate Irving (MLB, NC State) has agreed to a 4 year deal with the Denver Broncos early this afternoon. Â This completes the signing of all 2011 draft picks for the organization. Â Lindsay Jones with the Denver Post was stating that 3rd round choiced typically take the longest to negotiate because they’re not as “cut and dry” as early or late round picks when it comes to length of contract and compensation. Â The team will be eager to get Irving on the field to have him compete with veteran Joe Mays for the starting Middle Linebacker position.
Irving (6′1″, 240 lbs.) a three year starter and team captain has played all three linebacker positions ending last season at middle linebacker. Irving survived a near fatal car accident which caused him to sit out the entire 2009 season only to come back to 110 tackles, six forced fumbles, three sacks and one interception and be named a semifinalist for the Butkus Award in 2010.
