On Tuesday, LSU cornerback and 2011 NFL Draft prospect Patrick Peterson said he would love to play alongside fellow cornerback Champ Bailey in Denver.
The quote came on the same day Broncos Head Coach John Fox essentially guaranteed that the team would be playing in a championship very soon and ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter speculated that Denver could be a candidate to land Tiki Barber.
“That would be wonderful to go there and help a veteran get over the hump and get a championship,” said Peterson. “Champ has been in the game a long time and he’s thirsty to win a championship. I would be more than happy to line up beside him and achieve that goal that he wants and that I want as well.â€
Alabama defensive tackle Marcell Dareus has emerged as a favorite to be taken second overall, but it wouldn’t be shocking to see the Broncos select Auburn’s Nick Fairley, Clemson’s Da’Quan Bowers, Texas A&M’s Von Miller or Peterson come April.
The kid is saying all the right things, there isn’t a draft expert or scout out there who isn’t very high on Peterson, him and Bailey would instantly form one of the best cornerback tandems in the NFL if they do get a chance to play together.
