After his best season in an eight year career; a season in which he accumulated nearly half of his career reception yardage Brandon Lloyd has been voted second-team All-Pro by the Associated Press.

Talk about dropping the ball guys, seriously…

Lloyd is joined as a wide receiver on the second-team by the Detroit Lions Calvin Johnson. Beating both of them out were the Indianapolis Colts Reggie Wayne and Atlanta Falcons Roddy White. Lloyd bested both of them in every single category except receptions (which is the most telling statistic of all).

Lloyd finished the season with 1,448 yards receiving on 77 receptions with a 18.8-yards per reception average, 11 touchdowns, and and unlimited amount of fantasy football owners who were smart enough to pick him up off the waiver wire at any point in the season.

Cornerback Champ Bailey was the only other Bronco to receive any All-Pro votes (2, thank you Lindsay and Woody). For a complete list of the 2011 All-Pro team check it out here.

Somewhere in a bar in Downtown Manhattan there is a large group of people anxiously awaiting your next season Brandon, so that we can do our best Jeremy Piven on Entourage impression. Say it with my guys, one last time for 2010 at the top of your lungs, “LLLLOOOOOYYYDDDD!!!!”

Good for him…also just heard that Denver got Allen as their DC. Does anyone know anything about him?

  • areferee

Allen spent the previous five years coaching with the New Orleans Saints, including the past three as secondary coach.

This season, the Saints ranked fourth in the league in pass defense, one of just five teams to hold opponents to less than 200 passing yards per game.

In 2009, he coached a group of defensive backs that posted 20 interceptions — five of which were returned for touchdowns — in the regular season. On a playoff run that resulted in a world championship, cornerback Tracy Porter intercepted the pass that sealed a Saints victory in Super Bowl XLIV.

The 10-year coach also spent two seasons as an assistant defensive line coach for the Saints, and his group combined for 48.5 sacks, 10 forced fumbles and 10 fumble recoveries during that stretch.

His previous coaching experience includes four seasons with the Atlanta Falcons, the final two as a defensive assistant/quality control with an emphasis on working with the defensive line. In 2004, the Falcons led the league for the first time in franchise history with 48 sacks and defensive end Patrick Kerney headed to the Pro Bowl.

Allen worked in the college ranks from 1996-2001, spending four years coaching at his alma mater, Texas A&M, and two at the University of Tulsa.

    Thanks for the info!

    Nice work areferee!

Definitely looks like we'll be going to a 4-3. A little concerned as all the great defenses right now are in a 3-4. Fox did mention using a bit of a hybrid, which is what I see the happening all the time. I think the Jets and Steelers were in different formations several times.

Impressed with his track record. Does this make Peterson the number 1 pick? Still think we need to build the front 7 first.

Reall, 2nd team? Who was hotter than Lloyd last season?

Are you kidding? I picked up Lloyd on draft day. I also had Reggie Wayne who was a major disappointment.

Depends on the scheme and their assessment of current players, but trading down and getting more picks would not be a bad idea.

I got Lloyd on draft day too, but you really took Lloyd over Gaffney? That's true insight! Reggie Wayne has been a disappointment for awhile now for sure…
