Moments ago ESPN’s Adam Schefter tweeted that the Denver Broncos plan to sign kicker Steve Hauschka, to replace Matt Prater who is apparently nursing a groin injury.
Hauschka was signed out of NC State to compete with Ryan Longwell of the Minnesota Vikings in the 2008 preseason. He was claimed off waivers by the Baltimore Ravens and signed to their practice squad. In 2009 Hauschka was released by the Ravens after going 9 of 13 (69.2%).
Most recently he kicked for the UFL’s Las Vegas Locomotives and set a record in October for most field goals in one game (three).
UPDATE: It’s official, with a press release from the Broncos they have announced the signing of Hauschka and the release of offensive lineman Stanley Daniels. Still no word on the status of Prater.
