Denver’s final four games of the season could be the last games nine-time Pro Bowler Champ Bailey plays for the Broncos.
Tuesday night at a charity event, Bailey told Lindsay Jones of the Denver Post, “It’s not all in my hands. I just know that once I’m a free agent, I can control where I go, and it’s about who wants me, hopefully, the Broncos will want me.”
He’ll be a free agent after this season and it should be noted, what a player and agent merit as ‘wanting’ is quite different than what teams considering wanting. Â If the Broncos try to sign Bailey to a smaller contract, the 32-year old cornerback may not be interested given the team will be on it’s 4th Head Coach (including one interim) in the past four years.
“I hope whatever plan they go with they believe in it, they stick with it and let it play itself out,” Bailey said. “I don’t know if I could stand another change, after this one. This is the last straw for me. I really don’t like dealing with this now, not at this point in my career.”
In the Post, Jones writes that whoever the Broncos hire as the new head coach, and potentially general manager, will affect how much Bailey will want to remain in Denver.
Sounds like Bailey thinks the Broncos prematurely fired Josh McDaniels. He emphatically rebuffed the rumors of a supposed verbal altercation between him, McDaniels, and a few other players, and said last night  that he hopes the team will stick with the new coach and direction the team decides to go.
