Kyle Orton remains Broncos starting QB

Denver Broncos interim head coach Eric Studesville quickly ended the “Tim Tebow to start!” groundswell that followed the announcement of Josh McDaniels‘ firing yesterday.

Kyle Orton is still the starter, Studesville said. Orton will start for the Broncos Sunday against the Arizona Cardinals, and the team will continue to evaluate Tebow (and every other position) as usual.

Studesville also said offensive coordinator Mike McCoy will take over playcalling duties. All other staff members, including QB coach Ben McDaniels, will remain in place and are “on board.”

    Does anyone realize Orton has 20 TD's and only 6 int's this season so far. The sacks are the only thing hurting his QB rating which is still over 90, and the Ofensive line has to take some credit for that. Benching Orton for Tebow right now is just plain dumb and that's why the new coach isn't even thinking about it.

    Has anyone seen Tebow throw? It's scary! Broncos are hard enough to watch right now. We dont need to watch Tebow stink it up in Arizona. Alot of QB'S coming out this year. Im sure we will have a shot at one of them. I was afraid this would happen when Xanders decided it was smart to trade down. Pass on Dez Bryant. Draft Tebow and Thomas. We got nothing from either one of them. Now we will be on the clock with several QB'S sitting there. What do we do? Draft a QB or take a chance that Tebow will be any good. Another bonehead mistake by Xanders. How does Xanders still have a job? Xanders has to go down as the worst GM in football history. Cutler and Marshall had to go but we had to replace them with a sure thing. Xanders turned those picks into nothing. Hillis trade goes down as one of the worst moves in sports history. No GM could have seen Hillis turning into a Pro Bowl player but he could play and Quinn was always a bum. What is Xanders capable of next? Clady for Kerry Collins?

    Are you out of your mind? Orton is only playing good if we have the lead. He is incapable of providing a come from behind drive. Seriously, look it up. How many of his “wins” have been from him leading us from behind in the 4th quarter? 1? 2? As soon as the Broncos fall behind by even a field goal, Orton freaks out and starts going downhill. That is not the attributes of a great qb. Those are the attributes of career backup qbs, which is what Orton really is.

    what will it hurt to start Tebow? yeah, maybe it will hurt because we might not win the game, but our season is already gone so who cares. Put in Tebow and see what he can offer. He'll make some rookie mistakes as expected, but this move would deffinately help in the long run. Mcd drafted him in the first round so why not use him? isn't that why he drafted him??
    None of us know if Tebow is the Broncos future, but we will never know if we don't give him a shot. I know college isn't the NFL, but what Tebow did in college was damn impressive and he shouldn't tagged as a bust until proven other wise.

    If he doing so great why are the Bronco Losing and he is being intercepted. Unable make any yards. TBow might be a rookie but the rookie for the cardinals is making the Bronco look very sad.

    If I was Kyle Orton, I would be EMBARRASSED to cash my paycheck after that game at Arizona!!!! Chicago, please take him back!!! And why is the coach leaving in a quarterback that can't even come close to his receivers with the ball?!?!?!?!?! Please play / start someone else so we have a chance!!!!!!!!!

    i am not a bronco fan but it really upsets me to see such a good team lose the way they are..since there losing so bad i cant see way not give tebow a try what can it hurt i would like to see the broncos back to the winning team they are..GO CHARGERS

    Do any of you complainers remember how bad John Elway was when he first started? I remember that fans called him a misrake and to trade him off. I feel that John Elway as GM is the best offer right now. He at least knows football. JR
