New York Jets cornerback Darrelle Revis and linebacker Calvin Pace will both travel to Denver when the Jets face the Broncos Sunday, but each player’s status to see the field remains uncertain.
“After talking to Darrelle and all that, we’re going to take him to Denver, one way or the other, because he wants to be with his team, whether he can play or not,” Jets coach Rex Ryan said. “And that’s where I want him, also. Hopefully he’ll be ready to play.”
Both Revis and Pace were limited in practice Thursday after not participating Wednesday.
If Revis can’t go, the Jets will lean more heavily on Antonio Cromartie, who did a good job blanketing Vikings wide receiver Randy Moss Monday night on all but one highlight-reel catch.
The Broncos don’t have a dedicated #1 WR, so the issue here isn’t who the Jets can shut down with Revis, it’s who they can’t. With or without Revis, Kyle Orton has options. So if Revis doesn’t play, it simply means Orton has one more on any given play.
