Knowshon Moreno

Knowshon Moreno has sustained an injury in practice this week that will keep him out against the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday, Denver Broncos head coach Josh McDaniels just announced.  Moreno was previously unlisted on Wednesday or Thursday’s injury reports.

McDaniels said he expects recently acquired running backs Laurence Maroney and Andre Brown to aid Correll Buckhalter and contribute in the running game.

This is a big blow to a running game that was looking to finally get going against Indy in Week 3.  The Broncos should be able to churn out yards with this tandem, but there’s no telling how McDaniels will split the load. For fantasy owners our recommendation is to stay away from Broncos RBs this week. If you’re desperate, Buckhalter is a shaky start.

good thing we got maroney and he's healthy now…

Or you could go all in and start Maroney (fantasy football wise).

  • SivNiz

Will Knowshon ever stay healthy for a whole season?

And definitely start Kyle Orton if you have him

Can you say BLOWOUT??? The only thing going good for the Broncos is the passing offense. At least for the Broncos, they don't have to see Knowshon Moreno running so slow. #Zing

major blow, i won't over due it with the comments… i still like our chances.. face it the Colts cannot stop the run.. when teams can't stop the run it really doesn't matter who the running back is.. plus we have some of the more talented WR's in the league and a QB that convert 3 downs… I hate when u guys over due it like the world is about to end.. if we stick to what ever game plan McD goes with it would be a well fought game… Without a shadow of a doubt the Broncos win you guys will be riding the high horse until are next opponent comes then you start the doubt again

Interesting to see if Maroney gets a chance and outplays Moreno what the coaches do. Outplaying Moreno is not really a stretch as Buck was able to do it often last year, but Maroney is a young guy unlike Buck, who could handle being the long-term starter. Be nice to see the big boy Andre Brown get a few carries as well. I don't see losing Moreno being as big as deal as not having Harris and Bailey/Goodman being gimpy.

poor guy – will he ever catch some luck?

i'd be more worried if this was champ

    tebow as 4th running back?

I'm actually starting D. Thomas at flex over Maroney, now that Knowson is out. I don't trust the splits that McD will give this week.

Somehow, I think guaranteed contracts are leading to the lengthy league-wide casualty lists. I am not accusing anyone of malingering, not even “Kno-Show” Moreno, but some players just don't have the stones to play hurt any more, regardless of the negative impact on their teams.

Speaking only for myself, my patience is beginning to wear thin. Someone please convince me that I am wrong.

Is that really your last name, or are you just trying to p*ss everybody off? :-)

  • herc_rock

Eh…let someone else put up a 3.5 ypc. We're not going to beat Indy running the ball anyway.

I agree with areferee. I too am weary if this guy is the long term answer. Went to the game last Sunday and watched it a couple of days ago (DVR). The guy came out of the games a couple of times and was completely gassed on the sideline, obviously still not in 'football' shape.

The thing that bothers be most about him is that while he is decent in many ways, he's simply not great at anything. Decent speed, decent quickness, not so decent strength, definitely not a power runner, decent instincts, and I think, decent heart. The problem… not great on any of those key attirbutes you want in a RB.

Spot on. That's what I loved and miss about Peyton Hillis. The heart of a lion! Played hurt…and most of all…Mile High saluted the fans.

  • TheTroglodyte

The only time Hillis got hurt, he missed the rest of the year. I liked him too though and wish McD would have saw a little more potential in him.

Oh well. All the best to him in Cleveland.

  • areferee

Yeah, well Trog, at least you're from the genus “Pan”…as a (part-time) human, look what I got stuck with… :-)

  • TheTroglodyte

    HAHA!

  • Yukafrut

I think he should try playing barbies
