A couple of surprises in the Denver Broncos 2010 depth chart the team just released.

Offense:

Position First Second Third Other
Quarterback Kyle Orton Brady Quinn Tim Tebow
Full Back Spencer Larsen
Running Back Knowshon Moreno Correll Buckhalter Lance Ball Andre Brown
WR 1 Brandon Lloyd Demaryius Thomas
WR 2 Eddie Royal Eric Decker
WR 3 Jabar Gaffney Matthew Willis
Tight End Daniel Graham Dan Gronkowski Richard Quinn
Left Tackle Ryan Clady Chris Clark
Left Guard Stanley Daniels Russ Hochstein Eric Olsen
Center J.D. Walton Russ Hochstein
Right Guard Chris Kuper Russ Hochstein Zane Beadles
Right Tackle Ryan Harris Zane Beadles D’Anthony Batiste

Defense:

Position First Second Third
ROLB Jason Hunter Jarvis Moss
RDE Justin Bannan Le Kevin Smith
Nose Tackle Jamal Williams Ronald Fields Marcus Thomas
LDE Ryan McBean Marcus Thomas
LOLB Robert Ayers Jarvis Moss
RILB D.J. Williams Wesley Woodyard
LILB Mario Haggan Joe Mays
RCB Andre Goodman Nate Jones Cassius Vaughn
LCB Champ Bailey Perrish Cox Syd’Quan Thompson
Free Safety Brian Dawkins Darcel McBath
Strong Safety Ronaldo Hill David Bruton

Notes after the jump.

  • Stanley Daniels took over the starting left guard position for Zane Beadles who looks to be backing up (and possibly replacing the injured) Ryan Harris.
  • Jason Hunter surpassed Jarvis Moss as the starting right outside linebacker.
  • Recently signed Chris Clark is backing up Ryan Clady, not Ryan Harris. Not that it means much, but it does create opportunity for Beadles.
  • Dan Gronkowski (who was just signed yesterday) is already the second string tight end ahead of Richard Quinn.
  • The Broncos are extremely thin at outside linebacker (only three on the team). Mario Haggan can push over and played outside last season, D.J. Williams can also play outside and it may be a consideration the Broncos have to make if they’re not getting the push they want.
  • Brady Quinn remains the second string quarterback and Tim Tebow the third. This leads me to believe Josh McDaniels has something up his sleeve for Tebow.

What do you say guys, any surprises?
