ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — An International Series game, a 19th consecutive year appearing on Monday Night Football and five divisional matchups in their final eight weeks of the year highlight the Denver Broncos’ 2010 regular-season schedule, which was released by the National Football League on Tuesday.

The Broncos will open their 2010 season on the road for the sixth consecutive year when they play Jacksonville on Sunday, Sept. 12, at 1 p.m. EDT at Jacksonville Municipal Stadium. The Broncos are the fifth team since 1990 and the first since Indianapolis (2000-2006) to open six consecutive years on the road.

Denver hosts Seattle in its home opener the following Sunday (Sept. 19) with kickoff set for 2:05 p.m. MDT at INVESCO Field at Mile High and then plays host to the AFC Champion Indianapolis Colts the following week (Sept. 26). The game against the Colts marks the 11th consecutive season the Broncos will have played at least one of the previous season’s Super Bowl participants.

Denver will play a pair of road contests at Tennessee (Oct. 3) and at Baltimore (Oct. 10) before returning home for two games against the N.Y. Jets (Oct. 17) and Oakland (Oct. 24).

The Broncos will play a regular-season game outside of the United States for the first time in franchise history on Sunday, Oct. 31, when they face the San Francisco 49ers in London. The game, which is part of the NFL’s International Series, will be played at Wembley Stadium at 11 a.m. MST (5 p.m. GMT). CBS will provide live television coverage of the game in the United States.

Following their Nov. 7 bye week date, the Broncos will face divisional opponents in five of their last seven games. They host Kansas City (Nov. 14) before appearing on ESPN’s Monday Night Football at San Diego on Nov. 22. That 5:30 p.m. PST game against the defending AFC West-champion Chargers marks the 19th consecutive season Denver will play on MNF, for the league’s longest active streak of appearing on that program and tied for the second-longest such streak all-time.

Denver hosts St. Louis in Week 12 (Nov. 28) before a stretch of three consecutive road games at Kansas City (Dec. 5), at Arizona (Dec. 12) and at Oakland (Dec. 19). Those contests mark the 14th time in franchise history and the first time since 1997 that Denver will play three consecutive contests on the road.

The Broncos wrap up their regular-season slate with home games against Houston (Dec. 26) and San Diego (Jan. 2).

Denver’s 2010 regular-season schedule features six games against five clubs that qualified for the playoffs last year. Its regular-season opponents had a combined record of 124-132-0 (.484) in 2009.

In accordance with the NFL’s flexible scheduling plan, the Broncos’ schedule may include additional prime-time games late in the season. All NFL games scheduled for Sundays from Weeks 11-17 are eligible to be moved to the Sunday night game, which is televised nationally by NBC.

not as brutal as years past not to bad lets hope the draft is really good

  • Andpark

I love it. Hardest bit is week 3-week 6. Anything is better than our meat grinder of a schedule last year.

  • http://nation.theorangepage.com/blog Ian Henson

Immediate reaction point to what a soft schedule San Diego has, but there really isn't a game on this schedule that I don't think Denver has a chance in. It always sucks pulling San Diego in week 17, but it also means that we'll most likely be playing for something.

I also love all the AFC West opponents in the second half of the schedule, as well as the very late bye week. Drawing Indianapolis so early in the season I also see as a blessing. The same can be said for most of the 'good on paper' teams we face (Ravens, Jets). The Ravens are the scariest team in the AFC to me this season and that Jets are looking poised to be of similar strength to last season.

I will reserve any season predictions (no, not until after the draft which would be far too logical and I already have a strong one) for a more appropriate time.

  • http://nation.theorangepage.com/blog Ian Henson

    In addition –

A tough schedule up front allows this team to build momentum towards the end of the season, instead of what has happened the last three seasons.

PS- Only one prime time game sucks. I know that Denver has a shot at more, but likely not with opponents like Kansas City, Oakland, St. Louis and Arizona in the second half of the season.

  • hope

You are so totaly right.the broncos do go 6-10.

  • peter

Right now, I agree with you, 6 and 10. Maybe a 7th win against the Bye in week 9. Not going to count on it at this point.

  • Big_Pete

    1. @JAC – W (Jax has nothing but MJD, and our D is going to be up to the task of stopping the run)
    2. SEA – W (Revenge from us for them not giving up a 1st round pick. That, and they just suck)
    3. IND – L (We tend to do decent early season, and we are far better against the Colts during the regular season than the playoffs, but by week 3, Peyton will have his game going. He's too much for anyone)
    4. @TEN – W (They don't scare me at all. We can control V.Y., so that won't be much of a factor, even in Tenn)
    5. @BAL – L (It doesn't matter who they have, and it doesn't matter who we have. They just flat out have our number, and in Baltimore, it'll be an even harder uphill climb. This might be an embarrassing loss by double digits.)
    6. NYJ – W (Revis don't scare us. We beat them down when they had the old man at QB, and he's better than The Sanchize. Our secondary will be the reason we win this game. Our short quick passing will eat them alive, while Revis “holds” Gaffney to only 5 catches for 75 yards)
    7. OAK – W (They will be better than last year, but so will we. They caught us when we were slumping, and that was the only reason why they beat us. No such luck for them this year)
    8. @SF – W (Basically this is my uncle's favorite team, and I always seem to be correct against his team. This is no different. Plus, whoever they have at QB will be laughable)
    9. BYE
    10. KC – W (We own KC in Denver usually. Again, we'll be riding high instead of slumping. So no lucky win this year for KC)
    11. @SD – L (Damn you Chargers. They always seem to get better as the season wears on)
    12. STL – W (This is almost a 2nd bye week for the good guys. Easy win, although Orton slams knee on hard turf and goes out)
    13. @KC – W (I'll be making this game as part of my annual “drive to kc and watch this rival and eat good bbq”. I expect us to squeak through this one on a last minute TD by QUINN)
    14. @ARI – W (This game would be a loss if Warner was the QB, but by week 14, Leinert will either be injured, or sucking, so he isn't much of a threat. Still, it'll be tough because of high hopes, but we still prevail)
    15. @OAK – W (Our annual “double their score in oakland” games. I don't expect anything different here)
    16. HOU – W (Kube is back in Denver. Last time we played, they kicked our butts in. This time it's different, as Kube won't have our playbook)
    17. SD – W (This could be for division winner, much like 2 years ago. This time, they're in our house! We will be loud, and the loss of LT will hurt them. We win by a semi-comfy margin)

There you have it boys. 13-3
My sky is still semi-falling from the mass jettison of our 2006 draft class, but I'm still confident that McDaniels is the coach for a reason. He'll have players that'll want to win as a team, instead of just getting stats and not caring about the outcome. We'll be proud and dangerous. That's a devastating combo. 2010 AFC West Champions!!!

  • kerry

HAHAHHAHAHAHA. can i PLEASE have some of what you are drinking, snorting, inhaling and shooting? because it must be awesome stuff. but i wanna play too so here is mine”

we go 16-0 just because i said so. there, see i came up with a complete and ridiculous prediction without naming reasons like one of my family members likes a specific team. get real man.

  • ApatheticMcD

From looking at the schedule i'd probably say the most likely estimate is us going 9-7. We have a good chance at winning a lot of these “should win” games but at the same time its important to remember that we're not set up to be a SB winner this year. I'd say with a good (wait, REALLY good) draft we can go 10-6 and take the wild card. I'm going to bank on a good draft because dam*it as a lifelong fan i still have to trust McD for one more season……..

  • ApatheticMcD

I think you were a bit harsh… you honestly see us losing to TEN (4), KC (13), and OAK (15)??? And yet you see us beating AZ with our slow ass defense….. I say we win those 3 games i mentioned and squeeze out a close one against the jets in week 6 if we learn how to run the ball.

  • roshon2411

I think at best 7-9. Hate starting on the road again, plus three straight road games towards end of year, even though it's against OAK, KC, AZ doesn't help either. Wish, there would have been more prime time games, but don't blame the league. I'm sure the Orton/Gaffney combo not a big draw.

  • ApatheticMcD

I think that this exact same debate should be had after the draft is over. It will answer a lot of my questions and i'm sure everyone else's… I will say i'm getting slightly sick of our fans bailing and presuming we're going under .500 when our division is horrible, we have a weak ass schedule, and are finally going to get off the stupid terell davis one cut bs blocking scheme that killed us once he was gone. I'm ready for a change and regardless of what sounds safe, no change turns us into the bills/lions/browns/bungals of old.

  • slayer

    fuck u all (16-0)

  • jtmonie

Why don't they just put Indy in our division, seems like we play them every year anyway.

  • steeplebomb

Mark it for the record books. Kerry thinks we're going 16-0. That must be some kind of record.

    Kidding obviously.

  • Doom92

“I will say I'm getting slightly sick of our fans bailing and presuming we're going under .500”

Just because some sees their opinion as open and accurate does not mean they are bailing!!! I hoping to squeak out another 8-8 right now so does that mean I'm bailing? I really do like your handle though :-), it fits like a glove, unless they are winning which is pretty normal.

I'm not ready to toss in the towel but agree that the draft will at least tell what his “master plan” -seems- to be. Personally I think it will be one more year of drafting for “the plan” rather than for this year and then next year will answer more of the questions… You heard it here first…lmao.

  • guest

i think we go 10-6. losses to: ind, bal, nyj, sd (x2) & hou.

in true bronco form- we may win one sd, then drop a stupid one to oak. but still 10-6. unfortunately i think sd wins the div and we have to hope for the wc.

  • mikebirty

Toughest part of the schedule? Not having an east coast game before coming over to London. Adds another 2 hours on to the jet lag and another few hours on to the flight.

Flip the Baltimore and Oakland games and I'd be happy.

Tough games at the start – Start 6-0 again and I'll be doing cartwheels

  • mikebirty

    13-3 baby!

  • MeOMy

I don't see Denver doing any worse than 8-8. I'd also say that 12-4 isn't without possibilities. Orton will have to show that he is much more comfortable in McD's system in order for that to happen though. I predicated 9-7 last year and we clearly have an easier schedule this year. Denver should be good enough for a 10-6 season.

For those of you who say I must be on something, just remember that you are probably the same people who said we were not going to win any game last year. I won't mention, cough cou(kerry)gh, any names. Sorry about that, got a spring cold.

  • http://www.broncotalk.net Josh Temple

“HOW THE %&@# YOU DOIN' BOYS???” The newer, slimmer Rex is coming to Denver.

  • roshon2411

I'm not bailing, I'm hopeful but also a realist. This team went 8-8 last year, after a 6-0 start. 7-9 isn't bailing when the team lost it's best offensive player for a 2nd year in-a-row.

I also agree the division is weak, but Denver is one of the reasons the division is weak. They play OAK, KC, twice a year and have split those games the last two years.

Of course teams can't make huge leaps in the standings, but they can also take huge leaps back.

  • Dan

More importantly for our 2nd round pick from Miami next year…Their schedule is brutal! They will be lucky to win 4 games. Nice job McD! Let's see how Brandon takes all those beatings…He will get frustrated and that will spill over into his private life = violation of league conduct policy = suspension = pissed off Miami fans and press…Especially when they see us with their choice low 2nd round pick in next year's draft. That could mean retirement for the Tuna!

  • herc_rock

    First order of business? Nicknames!

  • herc_rock

8-8 sounds about right…if we get a few breaks.

One scheduled prime-time game is a joke. Shows how far we've fallen in terms of national relevance.

  • http://www.broncotalk.net Josh Temple

Lindsay Jones from the Post was asking if season ticket holder's were actually happy about that yesterday. I replied with an emphatic yes. When you work 10hr days, 5 days a week and commute to the games, multiple prime time dates suck.

  • stav

Yeah – I'm seeing another 8-8 season coming our way. I really don't know how to assess this team. DLine is improved but can Jamal Williams stay healthy? Is Orton going to crack with Quinn waiting in the wings? Who is going to replace Marshall's production and who is his replacement? Are they going to actually throw the ball to Royal this year?

    1. @JAC – W
    2. SEA – W
    3. IND – L
    4. @TEN – L
    5. @BAL – L
    6. NYJ – W
    7. OAK – W
    8. @SF – W
    9. BYE
    10. KC – W
    11. @SD – L
    12. STL – W
    13. @KC – L
    14. @ARI – L
    15. @OAK – W
    16. HOU – L
    17. SD – L

Every year I say we'll sweep KC and OAK and every year we don't, hence the 8-8 REALISTIC prediction. Now given our new DLine, potential drafting of McClain, Ayers showing up in year 2, Moreno converting on 3rd and 1 or 2 and averaging 4+ per carry, this could change. Beating the Jets in Denver will be our big upset win.

Defense is going have to be top 10 to carry the team this year. Is it possible? Who knows, but can they stave off the annual end of the year defensive slump where it just seems like they don't give a s–t anymore? Because let's be honest, for the past three years I've been using the word heartless ALOT to describe this team once we get into late December.

  • guest

the good thing about that though is that we dont play in prime time. whats our prime time record the last couple years 0-15?

  • NMBronc

    While I was tempted to reiterate F U, 16-0…

11-5, but that all depends on Orton. Marshall saved Orton on a couple handfuls of would-be INTs. Without Marshall, Orton will have to be more accurate. If not, 9-7 or worse.

  • http://broncotalk.net Kyle

Of course, with the draft and the ability to watch training camp, I reserve the right to change this, but here's Kyle's (and therefore BT's official) predicted W/L

    1. @JAC – L – We never win there.
    2. SEA – W
    3. IND – L – Sucks we didn't get them in Week 16 or so

    j/k, I get what you're saying.

  • TheTroglodyte

The Steelers have begun contacting teams to trade Ben Roethlisberger for a top-10 pick, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Now that is a team whose Owner and fans understand the importance of high character players.

  • http://broncoszone.blogspot.com/ Jon

    9-7

  • herc_rock

I wouldn't mind having Big Ben.

  • TheTroglodyte

lol Unfortunately the fact that you wouldn't mind having him just proved my point.

  • herc_rock

What point is that? That you're a naive pollyanna?

Piss and moan about “high character” all you want, but “high character” doesn't translate to “winning games.” Never has, never will.

  • troyhawk

Screw U All Broncos Go 12-4 lose the last 4 games and super bowl champs u all cant quit on your team if u do than u should choose another team to root for this is the pros anything happens it just depends on the coaching not the players damn u guys like to give up easy the season has not started and u have broncos under a .500a

  • hoss9009

I'm gonna have to agree with you… long season… let's hope the dominoes fall in the right stops and you're totally wrong and we're 13-3.

  • Levi

i figure i'm way late, since the draft has already happened, but i wanted on someone's books with my predictions!!!

@JAC – L (The Jags have our number for so many reasons not readily apparent. If McD is the type of character that I think he is, we could eke one out by being in much better shape than in years past.)
    2. SEA – W (Have they beaten us since they got booted from the AFC? Even going back to old days, we could always beat them at home.)
    3. IND – L (This one just might be as close as any game we play this season. I imagine much heartache, and possibly an ending as unjust as our win against the Bengals in week 1 last year)
    4. @TEN – L (This is a tough stretch of games and I predict this one to go by the wayside, possibly having been deflated by my unfounded prediction of week 3?)
    5. @BAL – L (As much as any of the games this season, this one is a no brainer. The Baltimore Ravens are a better team, pure and simple.)
    6. NYJ – W (Nothing about the Jets has ever intimidated me as a Bronco fan. Reevis' secondary play is a moot point with the Broncos' general “run first” mentality, and I feel our D will be a dominant force this coming season.)
    7. OAK – L (I only predict that the Broncos will split their games with the Oakland Raiders this year. Just to be fun, I predicted that both teams will lose at home. The Oakland Raiders' stock is on the rise in a big way, and I genuinely hope that they find a way to succeed. Why hate, you know?)
    8. @SF – W (Vernon Davis is as close to an indisposable player as I have on my Madden team….do they have other players?)
    9. BYE
    10. KC – W (The Chiefs are a mystery to me, I have always respected their mental and physical toughness. It's awful tough to beat a team like that, but the league finds a way to do it every year.)
    11. @SD – L (Man did I want to say that we had a chance of sweeping the Chargers this season, but they're just too good. Perhaps the football gods will judge them harshly for getting rid of Tomlinson.)
    12. STL – W (Poor St. Louis. I don't know what else to say, except good luck with that Bradford cat.)
    13. @KC – L (Another split in the AFC west. The Chiefs are tough at home every single year that I can call to memory.)
    14. @ARI – W (I was SO close to chalking this one up as a loss, but then I heard of the retirement. So long Kurt Warner, we hardly knew ye.)
    15. @OAK – W (Those that predict a Broncos sweep of the Oakland Raiders would do well to look up the rivalry's all time record, which is 41-56 in favor of the Raiders. Things are no different now than they were in the past.)
    16. HOU – L (Oh wow, what a game! Kubiak has built the Texans in his own image, and I see that it is good.)
    17. SD – L (The only sweep that I predict to occur in the AFC West, unfortunately the Broncos are on the losing end of it to set the Chargers atop the AFC West AGAIN. Man I hate that, too.)

So I guess that makes the tally 7-9, rough going in Bronco country these days but when the AFC returns to the place that should be home we will be there….we will be there.

some of you donkey fans know football, but of course most are idiots. 6-10 sounds realistic, they have a TOUGH schedule this season, thats what you get for going 8-8 (you get a middle draft pick and no playoff spot.) theres no way they will beat kc away, maybe at home. denver will not make the playoffs and wont win more than 7 games. p.s, even kansas city has a monday night football game this year……….. who doesnt??? hmmm

  • Cherrios33

Wow. Why are you guys so negative? We will only loose if you are sooo convinced we will and start convincing the players we will. Football isnt about ” oh there only going to beat the bad teams hardy har har”. No its about being a family and believing we can beat EVERYONE! Its about having faith in our members. i may only be a 15 year old girl. But i know A LOT! My brother is D.j. Williams #55. I have been around football ever since i was born. i know how Football works.
