Broncos Hire Bob Wylie as O-Line Coach

UPDATE: Broncos tight end Clancy Barone will split the duty of offensive line coach with Coach Wylie.

Since Rick Dennison left to take the offensive coordinator position of the Houston Texans the Broncos were left to fill his old position… so they went to Canada. According to the Denver Post the Broncos have hired Bob Wylie (Not be confused with Bill Murray’s character Bob Wiley from the hilarious movie What About Bob), a now former assistant coach of the Saskatchewan Roughriders. Also according to the Denver Post below is his track record.

Wylie, who coached at Colorado State early in his career, has coached seven Pro Bowl offensive linemen in his previous NFL stops in Arizona, Tampa Bay and Chicago. He also coached tight ends for Cincinnati and spent two years as a Jets assistant.

In other words Coach Wylie is not totally without NFL experience. This means that in this past week the Broncos have hired a coach from Canada and another named Studesville. You at least have to admire the creativity of Josh McDaniels. If the offensive line play continues to decline next, we’ll just have to blame Canada.

    I don't know about splitting the duties between this guy and Barone. Seems counterproductive to me. Why not just keep Barone as the tight end coach and be done with it?

    Maybe you should do a little research before making jokes and badmouthing people becaue of their name, where they're from, or who hired them. It took one quick Google search to find these. Imagine what you could find if you really tried.

    Saskatchewan Roughrider head coach Ken Miller announced today Bob Wylie has been named the club's offensive line coach.

    Wylie joins the Green and White after spending the past two years as the offensive line coach in Winnipeg. The Blue Bombers o-line gave up the fewest amount of quarterback sacks in the CFL during those two seasons.

    I wasn't bad mouthing these coaches because of their names, as a matter of fact I wasn't bad mouthing them at all. I was simply pointing something funny out.

    seriously? do any of you know anything about football? do you know wylie was in the cfl 3 years and went to the Grey Cup (that is the canadian superbowl which you probably did not know) 3 times with 2 different teams. did you know he has the largest o-line clinic in america where over 400 coaches including dennison have come to learn more about offensive line play every year for the past 15 years? the fact that he has more than 14 years of nfl experience means nothing to you? did you know that olin kruetz credits wylie with his success in the nfl? no – you are probably all right – we should have brought in a young guy with no experience ready to learn on the job – who actually wants to get better? I hope they signed Wylie for a long contract – the team needs him

    Well, technically it would be opening my keyboard. But I digress… I'm fully aware of Wylie's stints at several NFL stops (and the CFL) over the years. But if you had the ability to extend your thought process beyond 10 words, you would figure out that he has bounced around for a reason. Not to mention that he's been in the CFL for the past three years. If you think he's the most qualified coach available, then you're as much of an f*n idiot as you seem to be.
