SPEAK UP: Naming the Broncos’ two-headed running back monster

Heading into the season, it wasn’t clear how the Broncos were planning to use running backs Knowshon Moreno and Correll Buckhalter.

That picture has come into focus. While Buckhalter has gotten the start three straight games, Moreno has gotten the bulk of the carries (46 to 31). Both have played very well, with Buckhalter breaking open some huge runs and both scoring one touchdown. What’s more, this tag-team method has led the Broncos to the NFL’s fourth-ranked rushing attack, averaging over 150 yards per game.

So, naturally, it needs a nickname. We hear “Smash and Dash” is taken, but something along those lines is certainly appealing. We could get clever and use the real-name-hybrid technique: Corrshon Buckeno, Knowshell Morhalter, KnowBuck, etc. etc.

    During the game, my buddy @dustintorres called the Moreno/Buckhalter combo “Around and Pound!” It perfectly captures each of their running styles.

    usually the tandems with names are ones where a speed guy is paired with a power guy, like Johnson and White in Tennessee or Jacobs/Bradshaw/Ward(last year)…We have 2 similar backs as our tandem….How about Zig-Zag

    Both guys make solid reads and cut well and both have some power, especially Moreno. We also have a dominating line shoving people around for these two. We should pay a tribute to the old school and include our o-line in the nickname calling the entire rushing unit “Orange Crush”

    Orange Rush hands down, because it is our O-line that is opening all the huge wholes out there. Not taking anything away from the best tandem in football but it has the best ring, plus its old skool

    I refuse to participate in this until after Sunday. I want to see what they can do against an actual defense. But possibly, ROMP & STOMP. CB is ROMP and KM is STOMP (of course). If Hillis stops fumbling and gets his act together, then they can be deemed as “The Stable”.

    While I enjoyed this process, I still think we need to see quality output from this unit against a solid defense before we brand it with a nickname.

    If they continue to impress ORANGE RUSH is my top pick.

    He started running between the hedges (rose bushes @ Georgia) now he runs between the trees (Clady and Harris) I love it. Watch some highlight tape on these two terrific athletes and I think you'll agree -Fight and Flight- is very fitting.

    I think Orange Rush is awesome, but not sure if this year's group can do it justice. Almost something I'd want to name the last 13 years of Broncos football.
