Denver Broncos Head Coach Josh McDaniels discusses the club’s decision to suspend wide receiver Brandon Marshall through September 5th for conduct detrimental to the team.

  • CJ

I have come to the Conclusion that we should trade Brandon for more defensive help.

I wouldnt mind a guy like Demeco Ryans Garry Kubiak loves Brandon Marshall because he was drafted by Mike Shannahan and i think Demeco would be better than andra Davis

  • Steeplebomb

What a mess. I agree with CJ. Get rid of him. Our team is still pretty unbalanced. In terms of offensive and defensive talent.

  • http://ttmt.com T-Money

Talent wise Brandon is an asset to the Broncos. Emotionally he is hurting himslef and the organization.

Brandon- Do yourself a favor… Get off your high horse. Learn the play book. Give the season all you got and you’ll be granted your ticket out of Denver into financial paradise. You’re hurting your public image, your teams image, and you are loosing the little respect you have left from your fans. Be a football player!

  • Brent

Marshall – Guess what, the commissioner of football is watching your antics. After all of your promises to clean up your act, both on and off the field, was all smoke and mirrors. You are only calling into question past guilt and your reputation is and will be undeniably harmed. Grow up, look how your mature peers have handled similar situations since the beginning of time, buck up, play football and everything will take care of itself. Let me ask you this, if you had under performed your contract, do you think the Broncos could ask you for a pay cut? Your run ins with the law, your immaturity, and the way you’ve handled this situation from day one BLOWS! If you love football as much as you claim, you would never have disrespected the organization, the fans, or more importantly – your teammates!

  • anthony33

McDaniel’s said one thing in the press conference that convinces me he’s the right guy. He spoke about not letting one or two players or instances define the 79 men in the locker room or the organization. He spoke of their commitment to preparing and winning.

The normally fidgety coach was all of a sudden sound, no jitters and the look in his eyes said it all. It was from the heart and without having to be careful of every word.

I guarantee you he won over his entire team with that statement. Not sure what will happen with Marshall, but I do know what we have as a coach.

Now I hope they go out and just kick the living shit out of Cutler and the Bears. What a statement that would make!

It’s about the money and getting the best deal everything else is secondary on both sides . One side or the other has to give in or nothing happens .

  • Tom9798

    I’ve seen coaches and players say this is not a distraction . . . . baloney . . . . the whole off-season has been a circus . . . . while every other team is fine tuning . . . we have been like a side-show act with our dirty laundry plastered across the national media . . . .

We open the season at the Bengals . . . play the Browns at home . . . then go to the Raiders . . . these are the three “easy” games on the schedule . . . . then we play the Cowboys . . . the Patriots . . . and go to San Diego before our bye week . . . .

If we don’t come out of the first six games with a winning record . . . this could be an ugly year . . . . considering we should have made the playoffs last year . . .

    After the bye week . . . Ravens . . . Steelers . . . Redskins . . . Chargers . . . Giants . . . Chiefs . . . Colts . . . Raiders . . . Eagles and then the Chiefs . . . . six playoff teams and the defending SuperBowl Champion . . . .

To re-cap the last six months . . . I’ve been the one saying we would go 11-5 . . . . and I really thought we had the personnel to pull that off . . . .

Then the Cutler trade . . . then the draft . . . . thought it was poor . . . Jumped up and down when Brian Orakpo made it to the 12th pick and then we passed him up . . . not like we needed an animal to pass rush . . . . now the Marshall mess . . .

After watching the pre-season so far . . . . I’m not getting the warm fuzzie’s . . . . especially after watching the Redskin’s Haynesworth flatten Brady like pizza dough and say, “you went on national TV and said you wanted to get hit . . . glad I could oblige,” . . . didn’t hear any smart ass comment’s from Brady after the game . . . .

But we get to play the Redskins after the Pittsburgh Steelers . . . we’ll show them . . . .

    Still a die-hard Bronco fan and trying to stay optimistic . . . . but anyone else starting to feel a bit queasy? . . . .

  • DHB

I know it’s a pipe dream, but how about a straight up trade Marshal for Boldin? I can’t think of a single reason why AZ would embrace that trade, but I’d love it.

I have to give props to McDaniels. I think he’s handled this thing like a seasoned head coach, even though it has to weigh on him. And I think it goes to show that the Cutler mess was a lot more Cutler than it was McDaniels or Bowlen. Both of these primadonnas have been told their entire lives how “great and awesome” they are. Cutler gets a whiff of the idea that he might not be the greatest person on earth, and stomps his feet and holds his breath until he gets his way – and then he gets traded. Marshall sees that pouting worked for Cutler and sees it as an opportunity for him to cash in, so he does the same thing.

I think Mark Schlereth said it best – “This guy isn’t hurting the coaches, he’s hurting the other 53 guys out there who are trying to become a team. Some of those guys need to come over and hit him in the mouth.”

  • kerry

i cannot believe the shit im reading. people are convinced he is the right coach because of his press conference??!?! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. are most of you that desperate to find comething good to say about him that he gets props for speaking at a press conference? SERIOUSLY!?!?! the bullshit is getting real deep around here. gonna need a breathing aparatus its so deep.

Now McD wants to handle it right? AFTER he helps screw it up? Big props for letting it get out of hand!

Gawd I hate watching my team learn the hard way! This is just another scenario that sets our team’s growth back a step. Now we need a QB and a #1 WR! Amongst the other holes on our team… !#@$%$#

I can only hope that coach IS learning. If (Big IF) he gets the team behind him as his mentor has… we have something good to look forward to.

  • http://ttmt.com T-Money

I hate to say it. But I agree with Kerry on this one. I’m still not convinced that McD is the right guy. Nor do I think that his press conference should be the basis on your decision.

  • Mac

Does anyone have a little spare cash? say an extra hundred mill, layin around somewhere? I bet we would resign him with an outside investor. Im gonna go grab a lottery ticket real quick.

  • Mac

The only problem here is that the two biggest studs were or are the two biggest whining divas in the history of Bronco football. It isn’t McDaniel’s fault or Bowlen’s fault. It is strictly the fault of the two big babies. We need to admit that they and only they are at fault here. And isn’t time we admit that Shanahan was a great coach but a less than good administrator, even overrated in that capacity. His coddling of stars led to this mess when a new coach came in an demanded that ALL players be a part of the team. These two babies loved the coddling and couldn’t handle the new regimes team first demands. Not only that but Shanahan left this team bereft of real talent and depth. Leaving McDaniels and Xanders to clean up this mess. The defense was the worst, the special teams the worst and while the offense was solid they were the worst in the red zone and converting first downs. I applaud McDaniels and his stands against the two babies and I say in the long run this team and franchise will be the better for it. All this agnst from alot of fans and the media is unwarranted when you look at the bigger picture. This team was headed nowhere under Shanahan but was shaded by two trophies, ten years ago. Bowlen had the guts to finally see this and make a radical change. It has led to upheaval but to me it shows how bad the franchise was but nobody saw it blinded by Lombardi Trophies.

  • anthony33

I’m surprised you don’t already have a breathing aparatus kerry…being your head is permanently stuck up your ass.

I thought McD handled is verywell and made a statement. Again, I just don’t see how anyone can pin this mess on McD.

Agree, he has a ton to prove, but he stood up for his team in a big way when some dip shit writer (kerry, are you a writer) basically challenged him and the organization. Class statement.

  • skuzzlebut702

Lets trade him while we still can. He is losing value each week he does something else selfish and stupid. If we can’t do that, sit him like the Bucs did to Keyshown Johnson a couple years ago.

  • http://www.webmdreviews.com Robert

lol @ “when some dip shit writer (kerry, are you a writer)”

  • Rob Bronco

There’s Kerry – menstrating again. Let the ride tide flow, huh Kerry? You’re opinion stinks so bad that I can smell it from here. Are you out of your mind? You actually think that any of Marshall’s antics are a result of McDaniel’s COACHING abilities? As a first year head coach, McDaniels has handled this as best he can for a guy who is in a no-win situation. We aren’t crowning him the greatest coach of all time. We’re giving credit where credit is due.

  • SanDiegoBronco55

will some one tell me why Champ or Dawkins doesnt pull Marshall to the side and say WTF is your problem, you get a fresh start and then you turn around and act like a RAH-TARD!

  • bw53

kerry–I recall you saying that you treat people with respect on these board. I gotta say–not really!

  • http://ttmt.com T-Money

    anthony33-

Don’t get me wrong dude. I’m not blaming McD at all. If you are a player and you get warned by your head coach to stop acting like a 15 year old that just got kicked off the starting roster, you better listen and Brandon didn’t. So I praise McD for putting Marshall into a time out. However… I don’t believe that his press conference or the the way he handles them makes him a great coach.

Now that is not saying that he doesn’t handle situations poorly nor am I implying that he this move did not send a message to the team that he takes his shit seriously. Furthermore I don’t believe that McD is behind the Cutler move in my opinion (the subject is dead and there’s no point in going into detail).

Lastly, I see McD in through the following eyes: 0-2

Until he proves that he can win, I am not and I will not call him a good coach.

  • flbronc

kerry- respect… nah… only if you hate the world. otherwise, you drink too much kool aid. if the sun rises, kool aid. had a good day at work, kool aid. wife was happy to see you, kool aid. kid rushed to the door to greet you, kool aid. qb has a good series, kool aid. economy recovers, kool aid. denver wins a regualr season game, kool aid. world peace, kool aid. cure for cancer, kool aid. denver makes the playoffs, kool aid.

the only way you get kerrys respect is if you root for 0-16 and the world to end- all at the same time. go broncs.

On a complete tangent… All Brian Dawkins fans better get excited… “Safety Brian Dawkins is going to make his preseason debut for Denver on Sunday night against Chicago. Dawkins had been dealing with a broken hand.” reports Bill Williamson

  • http://ttmt.com T-Money

Here’s a good look at Sundays game that doesn’t really bash denver like everybody else:

T-Money good post. Trent Dilfer and Mark are amazing anaylist. I believe ESPN has stepped up their game after hiring Adam to. I Am GLAD TO BE BACK.. but not glad to see brandon punt the ball with that “bad Hamstring” I believe that the Denver Broncos are in trouble this year unless this team can find common ground to stand on. We traded away the wrong player. I can’t blame Pat Bowlen and Josh McD and Brian Xanders stand on not giving this guy a  bigger contract. I get it too much trouble off the field. He is what we would call a high risk stock, there are high rewards, but major risk. The Broncos still have the best offensive line in football and good you superstar in Eddie Royal…but we need a huge guy out there on the field to catch the ball. Its a catch 22This team is going to be a timid passing offense, which as long as they don’t turn the ball over will make me extremely happy. The defense has potential but still lots of question marks. I am really excited to see what happens though its gonna be fun

FLBRONCO THATS ALOT OF KOOL AID

guys stop being so d**n emotional on the live blogs during the game please

  • anthony33

    T Money

    Well said. I’m with you.
But let’s just agree not to count W’s and L’s until the real deal starts. Too much stuff to work on in preseason to worry about the score.

With the exception of tonight of course. This counts.

  • stav

i just don’t get it. This asshole wants to be traded or extended but he’s denied both by management and told to HONOR his current contract, there’s that mystery word again, honor. His plan to force a decision is admitting that he has not learned the playbook and to be disruptive in practice, yeah plenty of teams will want you with the plans of a big extension. I’ve never said this before but I actually feel bad for his agent. How the hell can he get anything done for Marshall as he’s so busy sabotaging himself? Whatever. If someone is stupid enough to give up an early 2nd and a 3rd now I’d dump him for that.

Here’s to praying that Elvis and crew can plant their facemasks into Cutler’s chest a few times tonight. Just knock the guy on his ass a few times to let him know, “get ready for sub-par o-line protection.”

I do have to agree that that was some of the more positive Bronco analysis I’ve heard all pre-season from Stink and Dilfer. Nothing bias, just two former players basically saying how they would react and would want to think if they were on the Broncos right now. We all have to agree that most teams are looking past us already this year, it won’t be that hard to sneak up on somebody and surprise them as we’re probably viewed as trap week games for several teams this year. That’s fine, expect us to do nothing, and then if we’re 7-9 or 8-8 we’ll be viewed as a surprise team. I see 7 wins as realistic, 8 is pushing it, 9 if Orton molds quickly into the system with of course Moreno putting up 1,000+ and most importantly the defense being improved which how can they not be, they sure as hell can’t be any worse. Just don’t give me this 4-12, 5-11 bullshit. This team is not as bad as those records would imply.

  • areferee

    For “stav”,
Good comments. No, the Orange and Blue boys aren’t as bad as such a record might suggest, but the reality is that no matter how good the individuals are in a system, it takes time to gel as a unit.

Like it or not, the fans will ultimately have to get used to the idea that the won/loss record this year is not a good way to assess this new team and how they are progressing. For those that are only satisfied with a win, it will be a frustrating year. For the others that can see development and improving statistics and a high degree of internal spirit within the squad, this first year will offer its share of rewards.

This year will be the true test of the typical Bronco’s fan. The true, devoted fan will measure the intangibles and not just the number of victories.

BTW: most of those of us that frequent these boards have learned to ignore “kerry” and his harangue. It’s not worth the read. He’s like the chef that never learned how to cook. He just tries to stir someone else’s pot.
