Kyle Orton silenced quite a few critics Saturday in Seattle. A week after his disastrous three-interception debut, the Denver Broncos quarterback looked sharp, spreading the ball around and completing over 2/3 of his passes, including 16 of his first 19. However, Matt Hasselbeck and the Seattle Seahawks just looked better, edging out the Broncos in the first half and dominating in the second en route to a 27-13 thumping at Qwest Field.

If it hadn’t been for a dropped pass in the back of the end zone, Orton’s night would have near-perfect. Orton’s first drive ended with his first touchdown as a Bronco. The Broncos marched 78 yards down the field as Orton delivered a fingertip grab to Brandon Stokley in the end zone on a three-yard fade route. Two drives and a field goal later, the Broncos were threatening again in the second quarter when Head Coach Josh McDaniels decided evaluating his players was more important than punching the football in for the score. After a wide open Jabar Gaffney dropped a pass in the back of the end zone, Orton was told to throw two more times – including on fourth down. The last throw was disastrous – a left-handed five-yard duck that was easily intercepted – and marked the only real blemish on a night Orton truly shined. Orton finished with 18 of 26 completions (69.2%), one TD and one INT for a passer rating of 85.7. Had Gaffney held on to the pass two plays earlier, Orton’s rating would have been well into the 100’s.

STOUT ON DEFENSE
The Broncos’ defense did a lot of good things in the first half. They stopped the run, allowing Seattle backs to gain only 20 yards in the first half. Combined with an efficient offense, the Broncos dominated time of possession in the first half, enjoying 18:11 to Seattle’s 11:49. Also, for the second straight week, the defense showed great ability to get to the opposing quarterback. The Broncos notched three sacks in the first half, which were the first sacks the Seahawks had allowed this preseason. D.J. Williams tallied the first while Kenny Peterson added the next two from the defensive end spot, making the Broncos’ preseason total an impressive seven sacks.

However, the team’s first half defensive success was bookended by Seattle touchdown drives. Hasselbeck floated a 34-yard rainbow out of the shotgun to Deon Butler, who seemed to be everywhere Saturday night, and scored the game’s opening points despite tight (albeit poorly positioned) coverage from Andre Goodman. The Seahawks netted 15 yards on their next three drives, all ending in punts that included two 3-and-outs, before finding success with the screen play to end the second half. The 14-play, 80-yard drive seemed effortless, and was capped by another Hasselbeck floater over Goodman, this time to T.J. Houshmandzadeh.

WHEELS FALL OFF IN SECOND HALF
Despite ending the half trailing 14-10, there were plenty of positives to be taken from the Broncos’ first-team efforts. That wasn’t the case in the second half, where the Seahawks displayed aggressive playcalling defensively and simply dominated on all sides of the ball, including special teams.

Forcing two turnovers in the second half, the Seahawks outscored the Broncos 13-3 in the third quarter, extending their lead to 27-13, a deficit from which the Broncos would not recover. Seattle was especially dominant at the line of scrimmage, where they sacked Broncos QB’s Chris Simms and Tom Brandstater, who made his preseason debut tonight, five times collectively.

Special teams was clearly in Seattle’s favor as well, as the Seahawks blocked a Britton Colquitt punt, forced a Kenny McKinley fumble, and even displayed great poise after a mistake of their own. Deon Butler fumbled a punt return deep in Seattle territory only to pick it up and still make a move on Broncos pursuers, finally getting pushed out of bounds some 30-40 yards later by the punter Colquitt.

Brandstater was hardly impressive in replacement of Simms, who was injured (more on that later). The coaches went run-heavy with the playbook with Brandstater calling plays, and the rookie only attempted four passes, completing two for a net gain of one yard.

TURNOVERS TELL THE TALE
The Broncos have yet to tally a turnover in the preseason, although there were a couple of close calls tonight. In contrast, they have coughed up the football seven times in preseason play. The secondary has played well, giving the pass rush time to get to the quarterback, but guys aren’t making plays on the ball. Defensive coordinator Mike Nolan is well-known for molding interception-happy defenses; so far that hasn’t been the case in Denver.

INJURY REPORT
The Broncos have quite a few bumps and bruises after Saturday’s game. QB Chris Simms limped off the field in the third quarter and suffered what is being reported as a sprained ankle. Rookie CB Alphonso Smith also left the field in the third quarter and was later seen with a large ice pack around his right knee. Defensive lineman Marcus Thomas went down with a right shoulder injury, and CB Tony Carter was seen limping on his left leg. (via Denver Post)

Overall my take on the game is pretty simple – I liked what I saw in the first half and didn’t like what I saw in the second. The backup offensive line was particularly bad, and the Broncos just couldn’t get anything going on offense in the second half. I’ll be taking a closer look as I re-watch the game over the next few days, so check back for a more detailed, thorough analysis on some of our Broncos from a technical standpoint, and feel free to share anything you noticed in the comments below. Go Broncos!

  • broncofan23

when are we goin to throw a deep ball?

  • anthony33

    Offense:
Orton much improved over last week.
Would like to see more of the old running attack. Note to JMAC: you have Dennison and Turner on the staff, use their knowledge.
Too much and dunk for my liking. Hopefully that will change.
    O-line looked great.
Second team offense is a mess.
Brandstater looked like he just joined camp on Friday.

    Defense:
Front seven (starters) coming along much better than expected.
D-backs coming along much slower than expected.
Where is the aggresive, ball hawking style they’ve been taking about?

    Special teams:
    Prater good.
    Covering kick-offs and punts resonable
    Return teams, sucked.

  • roshon2411

Though Orton had a better game than last, I still wasn’t very impressed. Yeah he could of had two TD’s if Gaffney doesn’t blow the one TD. He also could of had two INT’s as well. The play before Stockley’s TD should of been picked. Now those stats aren’t what really concerns me. What concerns me is the fact Orton has made three bad decisions in the three red zone chances.

Glad to see we are getting at the QB more this year, but still worried about the fact of no turnovers again. Other than Champ secodary looks slow and out of place but I think once Dawk comes back, that will help. Having a headhunter back there will put some worry in the oppossing team.

My MVP’s were Royal, D-Will, Kenny Peterson, Darius Walker, and Brett Kern. Would have said Gaffney as well but dropping a TD is a no-no.

Royal will defintely be the Wes Welker of this offense and should be a top pick in PPR fantasy leagues.

D-Will wasn’t all that impressive against the 49ers but looked good last night, sack and 6 solo’s.

Kenny Peterson has been very impressive in both games so far. Really glad we decided to keep him.

Darius Walker is playing against the scrubs but has been more impressive than Buckhalter and Jordan, been very dissapointed in their play.

Brett Kern I think won the job last night with a 61 yard punt and 48.7 avg. Colquitt only had a 31.7 avg. This was good to see on Kern’s part because I’d been hearing Kern had been struggling lately.

All in all wasn’t a horrible game or a great game. Saw some improvements in some areas but still waiting for some key players to step up. Andra Davis, Renaldo Hill, Goodman, and Fields. Also again didn’t see Ayers last night either.

Also two random observations last night:

    1. Does McDaniels want to copy the “patriot way” so bad he has to dress like Bellichick? He looks like a younger version of Bill.

    2. Watching Seattle’s broadcast team on NFLN. They were much better than the 49ers broadcast team.

  • roshon2411

    Another thing:

Same concern has Broncofan23. Where is the deep ball? I’m starting to think Orton is going to hamper McDaniels offense because he can’t throw the deep ball. If we can’t open the field up, might be tough to run the ball.

  • AtomicLeo

Deep Ball: Will not exist in this offense unless Simms or Brandstater start. Orton has the arm strength but doesn’t have the accuracy downfield. That will work provided the defense keeps the opponent out of the end zone and the team isn’t trying to come from behind a large deficit.

    Things I liked:

    Orton overall looked much better.

Eddie ‘with Cheese’ Royal. Awesome player.

    Things I didn’t like

The two plays before the Orton/Stokely TD were not good. On first down, Orton never looked off the WR and a RB was WIDE open on the side. The second was a near INT. Orton recovered nicely with his 3rd down throw to Stokley, but still…..gives me pause. Orton has had 4 red zone opportunities and has made a lot of bone head decisions.

Why H### is Jordon still the starter? He looks slow and tentative when he runs. If this continues after the 3rd pre-season game and McD doesn’t bench him for someone else I will assume Jordon has pictures of McD with a stripper in Vegas.

Seattle had two starters missing on the O-line and the D only managed 1 sack. Bleh! They did pressure Hassleback, but I really want to see turn overs and sacks from the new defense. Haven’t seen that yet.

The entire 2nd string on offense and defense looked terrible. Sigh.

  • http://birty.blogspot.com mikebirty

having only seen the highlights and the box score i got the feeling that they just didn’t bother rushing the ball. Did that last week and know they can do it, so lets be pass heavy.

Next week against the bears hopefully everything will come together. Next week shouldn’t be treated like pre-season.

  • Roy

It is only the second game of the preseason, I think the Broncs were more concerned with building Orton’s confidence than chucking the ball.
Still no turnovers for our D. While it is nice to see our d-line doing well, the lack of ballhawking concerns me.
Our RB’s were subpar runnung, with the exception being Hillis’ negated run. I know I am biased, but it look to me like Clady fell, not intentionally cut blocked.
On a side note, I hate the Seahawks commentators. I was not able to watch last week for comparison, but I really hate listening to Warren Moon. Yes Warren, training camp is hard and the players are tired. ALL football players are tired after training camp, quit using it as an excuse for some of the team taking plays off.

  • AtomicLeo

Ooops my bad…..Peterson had 2 sacks. Well that is much better.

  • Roy

AtomicLeo- we had 3 sacks; not one. That brings our sack total up to 7 for two preseasin games. Keep in mind we only had 13 in total last season.

  • MiamiMike

This offense is set up more for spread and slants. W.R’s get the ball on the run with short to mid routes and then they make the play from there. Criss- cross patterns with W.R’s blocking as picks and down field to allow yards after the catch.

  • dean

This offense is set up more for spread and slants but remember a couple years ago Moss set the TD mark because of the deep ball in McD’s offense. The spread and slants set up the deep ball. Orton can throw it far enough but he’s inaccurate after 20 yards. Plus he throws a really slow ball. From what I saw from Bradstater and heard how he’s doing so far in camp, will definitely being looking for a QB next year.

  • Pete

funny BF23 and Roshon. 2 nights ago when the Patriots played, I counted 5 passes from Brady that traveled 10 yards or further in the air. Do you know how many were completed? ZERO. Wait, let me say that again, ZERO!!!
Take your “it’s gonna hurt our offense” garbage out of here. McDaniels led his offense to the all time scoring record by dinking and dunking, and about 2 times a game, they threw it up for grabs to Moss. Orton will be just fine, just like Brady is fine. This offense doesn’t call for a rocket arm.

  • anthony33

    Roshon,
Agee with your comment on McD. He needs to become his own man. And by the way, the hoodie looks ridiculous. You’re a head coach of a professional fooball team, try to dress like one (not that one).

If there is a major flaw with this guy, it’s that he is trying to BE Bellichik. He will not become a successful head coach until he becomes J McD on and off the field. I have seen a lot of managers throughout my career that try to be someone else instead of who they are. Those that figure it out do pretty well, those that don’t ususally implode. However, I do think he will mature into the role. We’re going to have to suffer through a lot of growing pains. What’s equally as important in learning what to do from someone, is learning what you don’t like and what not to do. Hence, Cutler and Marshall. Figure it out McD, be the guy that knows how to straighten it out and draw the best out everyone instead of just drawing a line in the sand. It’s a skill, not a weakness.

    Coaching:
Used up all the time outs in by the middle of the second quarter.
Brandstater is no where remotely close to runnning this offense. Thought he would have been a little better than what we witnessed last night
    Overall: C-

  • SAM SB

Who the HELL throws the ball with their LEFT HAND?????!!!!!!!

    other than that not bad

  • roshon2411

    Pete,

While you were watching the pats game, did you happen to notice, they didn’t score a touchdown? So much for dinking and dunking leading to scoring.

Besides, Randy Moss broke the TD record not Welker. Most of those TD’s were from the long ball.

This offense can be great, because with the the short passes, D’s will eventually cheat up and thats when the deep ball comes in handy.

But if there’s no deep threat then not only will the defense cheat up to stop the short passes but they’ll also put more guys closer to the line which will make it even tougher to run.

Also, how do you know this offense doesn’t call for a rocket arm? Both Cassel and Brady have big arms.

  • Bronco_Lover_Forever

here is my take on the game:
O– think of BM in the offense we watched and what oppurtonity for other recievers he would present & agressive blocking we would get out of him in the scheme used.
D– I still think they have a long way to go. They were unable to adjust when the opponent adjusted their game in the last drive of the first half.
ST– Really bad returns (kickoff & punt).
Its preseason and we improved. but i am really still worried about ST play they have been bad for yrs and i still did not see anything different.

  • soxbigdog

Two things that jump out me after the first two games…

Total Yards allowed on Defense vs SF 278

Total Yards allowed on Defense vs Sea 248

I know its mainly against 2nd and 3rd string talent.. but this is a huge jump from the 374+ yards per game they were averaging during the regular season last year… I went back and looked, and they averaged 320 yards a game during the preseason last year… so its an improvement so far regardless..

Now, if the offense can stop turning the ball over.. they might have something

  • kerry

    here is my take:

QB: looked better, but that left handed pass was so ridiculous it really took away from the good. i mean who the hell does that?! left handed! not to mention funny as hell!! and can Orton PLEASE just throw the long ball a couple times a game?!? just to stretch the field a bit. this dinking and dunking isnt working if the defnese knows they have to just defend a 7 yard dunk play all day. even if Orton misses just throw it long.

O-line- great pass blocking and bad run blocking. have any of you actually watched Ryan Clady try and run block? for as great as that guy is he really isnt good at run blocking. he just throws his body at a guy hoping he blocks him. his penalty negated a long run by Hillis. Clady is the best pass blocker ive seen since Zimmerman but his run blocking needs ALOT of work.

RB- um why is Peyton Hillis not starting?? can anyone enlighten me?

WR- Eddie can make plays, big surprise right. other then that they were less then spectacular.

TE- do we even have TE’s anymore?

D-line- looked better but still lacking consistent pressure on the QB. 3 sacks is fine and good but the key to getting turnovers is forcing the QB into making mistakes with pressure and we didnt get pressure. it was a sack or nothing. not really effective.

LB’s- nothing spectacular really, but did plug gaps well in the first half.

DB’- Hasselbeck torched them quite early. their real test is this week.

kicker- hey prater made a 50 something yarder. its inside 40 where he sucks.

overall it was a decent performance yet still a loss. it shows if things dont go well early for Orton then he folds rather easily. a left handed red zone INT. wow. just wow.

  • http://cdn0.sbnation.com/profile_images/111140/La_La_Mascot.jpg WhidbeyBronco

i was at the game, had a ton of fun… good thing cuz we’re really looking mediocre

  • slkdjfod

I don’t care that it was 4th down, you can do better than a left handed int! He freaked out, thought he was getting taken down when in reality he had just gotten away. And Orton is horrible at staring down his targets, he picks a guy in the huddle and then looks his way the entire time.

It’s unfair to evaluate Brandstater, Seattle’s defense was just too much for our backup defensive line, he had no time. You could tell though that he was a bit indecisive and probably took longer back there than a veteran QB.

Any word on Moreno? Hoping they’re just taking precautions since it’s preseason but I wasn’t aware he wouldn’t be playing. Peyton Hillis though, what a great spell back, he should ne number two and fullback when we need one.

  • robtink242

Kerry i agree with most of your take,

Offense needs to be open up. I wish we had a big tall reciever that demanded double coverage. IDK maybe convert Tony to a WR(just a joke). seriourly Hillis is the best back we have and deserves to start. I do believe we need a next QB just to put fire under are existing QB asses.

Defense the first team D front seven played great. I do wish spencer larsen played more. i saw mario haggen had a KO tackle and took #20 out by the legs. Yeah you have to light um up. Personally i would love to see Smith take Goodman’s job before the season.

  • http://BroncoTalk.net Mr.East

I’m so sick of people talking about McDaniels mimicking the “Patriot Way.” That’s just ridiculous. What he wears a hoodie so he’s automatically BB? His outfit the first game wasn’t a hoodie if you remember.

    Anthony33,

He needs to be his own man? Because he wears a hoodie? He’s not trying to be BB, he’s trying to be Josh McDaniels. Please give me some proof that he’s trying to be BB. Don’t give me some BS about how he brought in Gaffney and Le Kevin Smith either, all coaches bring in players they’re familiar with.

What I liked from the game was the special teams coverage in the first half. The first two kick off coverage teams got to the guy before the 20, that really can help our defense this year. Unlike Shanahan, McDaniels really did address special teams heavily.

  • Nisse

    SAM SB
amongst others, chris simms. he throws the ball with his left han, does it pretty well to.

  • anthony33

    Mr. East,
Calm down, it’s an observation. It’s natual to try and emulate someone you respect. My point is he is very young, a rookie head coach and it is going to take time for him to get comfortable and grow into the role. I believe he can and will do just that. A year from now will totally different.

I resepct what the guy brings to the table from NE, no issure there. I just hope he adds his own tweaks, takes the good things from last years offense and makes the whole thing his own version of the Broncos 21st century.

Oh yeah, I also think the players he brought in from NE was a smart move. It helps to bring in a few decent players familiar with the system that can help mentor/teach. Whether they end up as starters is not as important as helping get everyone on the same page.

Still don’t like the hoodie. Hey, maybe he was doing it as a thank you gesture to BB. We’ll see.

  • wes

Well Orton made some strides in the right direction for you guys huh. Orton isnt all bad as I have said before being a Bears fan Ive watched him since he was a rookie. I must say though that he always plays the first 10 to 15 plays the O scripts for opening drives very well. He does seem to fall off though as the 3rd and 4th series start and always has. His 2minute drill is decent but thats scripted as well. Your main concern should be that he is so inconsistent. One week hes great next hes weak he never over came that here in Chicago. The weapons at WR should help but it wont take long before this short pass game will be snuffed out by opposing Ds. Which brings me to Ortons long ball skills. He has accuracy issues after 20 25 yards usually under throwing recievers which is dangerous he will complete some but mostly after a great effort by his wideouts. Also if you watched the play clock on the snap before his TD to Stokley it was a delay of game that was never called but should of been.He checks off at the line tons which can cause those types of penalties. The biggest scare for me if I was a Bronco fan would be Orton having to throw 50 times a game that is scary he makes to many bad decisions to be asked to throw that much. Orton won games in Chicago as a short passer with a great D and a solid running attack. He rarely won games gunslinging and wont he just isnt good enough. All that said, I hope for all of you JMcD actually plans to use ur first round runner a ton this year or else I have no idea why he wasted a pick on a RB if his plan is to throw 70 to 75 % of the time. Your D could of used that pick in a bad way and wasting Knowshawn would be nuts. But I think with JMcD past moves calling him nuts is about right. In my eyes a RB such as Buckhalter is good enough for an O that dont hardly run and another 1st round defender could of made a very big difference to that D. I think ur coach is an asshole there I said it. He is screwing you guys to do what he wants to do whether its good 4 the team or not. Cutler in that scheme is a scary thought for anyone that played you but… hes gone. Marshall is a huge peice of that Off… hes benched. Your D needs all the help they can get and he blows a 1st round pick on a RB when he knows he wont be runnin alot???? I mean think about what ur D could of looked like with a badass NT then the LB you got plus the free agent signings in the secondary it could of looked better thats 4 sure. But this dick drafts a RB that will only carry the ball 10 15 times a game. I wish JMcD never signed as ur coach hes killing what you had. Oh wait im glad he did cause if he hadnt Cutler would still be a Bronco. Ah thanks again Joshie my boy.

  • MikeY55

haha soon as i saw that left handed INT it brought back memories of that season opener when plummer did it as well! but in allll honesty it WAS 4th down for orton at the end of the half he was going down for a sack i like the fact that he even attempted to give a wr a chance eventhough it was well off. i mean if he just went down it would have been a sack and end of half. but instead it was an int and the end of the half only difference is ortons rating

  • roshon2411

    East,

As anthony said, relax. It’s a copycat league, and McDaniels came from the Bellichick tree. So there always going to be comparisons. Just as with Walsh and the west coast offense and Shannahan being part of that tree. Were you sick when the Broncos were being compared to the 49ers in the 90’s? I was just being sarcastic about McD dressing like Bill. Sorry can’t find the sarcasm font on my computer.

  • dean

Orton’s left handed pass was stupid for multiple reasons. And yeah
+It was 4th down and the half was coming to a close but the biggest reason it was a bone-headed play was the fact if he throws an incomplete pass or takes the sack, Seattle gets the ball at the 5 yard line instead of the 20. Big difference! At the 5, maybe Seattle runs out the clock. I know it’s preseason but those are plays the can make or break a game. Besides Orton’s been in this league long enough to not make mistakes like that. Still holding out hope on a possible trade for Anderson/Quinn.

  • Paul

Dean…….. Anderson and Quinn suck too.

  • Nisse

watching the broncos play, katie perrys – hot n cold comes to mind.
orton is playing great at times, and sucks a minute later. the defense is getting owned one drive, and the next they stop the offense completly.

hasselbeck hade a great game, but the secondary worries me alot. why havent we got any interceptions yet?

  • Tom9798

    My take on the game . . . .

    I’ve been saying for six month’s that the Bronco’s would go 11-5 . . . . I’m a diehard Bronco’s fan with an autographed pennant by linebacker Bob Swenson . . . . kind of like Spencer Larsen . . . . you throw them a piece of meat . . . they knarl it down . . . . go out and hit every one in their path . . . . regardless . . . .

I’m not pleased so far . . . . after reading all the post’s the best that I can agree with so far is Mediocre . . . .

    Not happy with the run game . . . not happy with Special Teams . . . not happy with inconsistent Pass Rush . . . . not happy with Pass Defense . . . . not happy with the QB’s . . . Period . . . .

I’ve read a lot of blog about how swell our defense looked . . . .

    The Seahawks were 4-12 last year . . . and they scored 27 points! . . . pretty swell eh? . . . the only team we played last year with a worse record was the Chief’s at 2-14 . . . and one of their victories was against US! . . . . wait for this year’s schedule . . . .

I’m hoping that I see some serious improvement in the next two weeks or my 11-5 prediction will look as hysterical as Orton’s left handed pass . . . .

  • anthony33

    Switching topics, sort of.

Is it just me or does it feel like this B Marsh thing has to come to a head this week? Like the Cutler situation, it’s utterly ridiculous the two sides can’t sit down, find the common ground and work it out.

The only leverage B Maarsh has is to be a distraction. He’s doing it.

  • http://BroncoTalk.net Mr.East

    anthony and roshon,

Didn’t mean to sound irritated. I couldn’t find the sarcasm font either.

    Nisse,

That’s the most metro-sexual comparison but it is kind of true.

    Tom,

The guys starting on special teams are doing a terrific job. They swarmed the guy before the 20 a few times on the kick off coverage. The pass rush is better than its ever been so thats a positive. It’s just preseason not reason to hit the panic button just yet

  • http://BroncoTalk.net Mr.East

    Tom,

Seattle didn’t have Hasselbeck healthy last year. They have a much more potent offense than last year showed. If it wasn’t for the fumble Denver wouldn’t have given up points. Ball security is job security.

  • RHINO

We need to run the ball using the zone blocking scheme we are famous for. The times I’ve seen it used we have had positive yardage. Even Jordan had a nice gain. It’s better then those ugly ass shotgun runs.

  • Brian

Over all, not disappointed even with the out come being what it was. I can only hope that BMarsh see what an opprtunity he’d have being a featured piece of this offense. Having a big target like Marshall might calm Orton down a bit in the red zone. He seems to be able to move this offense at will until he gets in the Red Zone. The dude needs to relax and make the right decisions, I believe Orton may actually be sucessful if he does. As far as a running attack, Hillis was robbed last night because of a personal foul, but it was still nice to see him run for daylight. The dude needs to start. Just wait, I think good things are ahead for this ball club.

  • http://twitter.com/ds Dave Simon

There were a lot of positive things to take – Orton did look pretty good, without the obvious play.

BTW, the only Bronco I want to see throwing a left-handed pass is Chris Simms.

  • Tom9798

    Mr. East . . . .

Maybe not to hit the panic button yet . . . if the Bear’s come into Mile High Stadium with all the drama and crap inclusive . . . . and we lose the game by ten points or more . . . admit that we might have a problem as we approach the season upon us . . . .

    I’m hoping we beat the Bear’s 30-10 . . . . but there is a voice in the back of my head that say’s that the Bear’s defense is really going after Orton . . . . . and after Orton . . . . . ? . . . . . T

    Tom

You gotta remember that our Defense is going to be going after Cutler just as much. Both teams want to hit their x Qb, so it should be a fun game. Plus we should have Marshall and Dawkins back. I wanna see Dawkins lay the wood on a Devin Hester. Ya, we all remember what he did the last time we played them, his kick returns. He still needs to pay for them lol. And to see Dawk come up on a safety blitz and get a hold of Jay could be fun to watch as well. Anyway, expect Denver and us as fans to go nuts at this game. Everyone in that stadium is going to go crazy so this should get our guys pumped up. First home game, and against Jay. What could be better? (besides if Jay was still on our team)

And I think that Nolan will bring a lot more type of blitzes to the table this game. He is going to find a way to make Jay have constant pressure on him all game. Get him a little flustered, and lets watch our D get some turnovers!!

    Joe . . . .

    Good points made . . . I hope our defense sacks Cutler at least three times . . . . They’ll need to . . . . Hope for an INT or two . . . should be a very interesting match-up in the pre-season to say the least . . . . T

  • Tom9798

    Joe . . . and by the way . . . I’m watching the re-run on NFL channel as the Bear’s defense is making the N.Y. Giants offense look like they started Friday . . . . Lord know’s I’m hoping my Bronco’s don’t get embarrassed . . . . T

  • Nisse

bears looked great against the giants, guess this is the last season dee will be with us :/

  • Tom9798

    Nisse . . . . you have that right . . . . Da Bear’s look good on offense and defense . . . if the Bear’s can’t win five games even Dee would be shocked at this point . . .

  • wes

My Bears are looking ok.But it was only the Giants and they suck so we will see!!!

  • wes

I mean we have a bunch of no name talent and a CB as r #1 WR what are we gonna do????? Oh wait Kick The Shit Out Of what some folks like to call a superbowl favorite. We made the Giants D look BAD oh and that D of ours is lookin pretty tough too.

The offense would improve if Brandon Marshall would grow up a bit.
