Let out a big sigh of relief, Broncos fans. It looks like Knowshon Moreno is going to be okay.
Mike Florio of PFT is reporting that Moreno’s MRI results Saturday revealed a sprained MCL, a much better verdict than an torn ACL, which would have derailed his rookie season.
Depending on the severity of the sprain, Moreno could be day-to-day or out for a few weeks. ESPN’s Bill Williamson reports that it is a “mild” knee sprain, and Moreno should be ready for the regular season opener September 13th.
Moreno rushed for 18 yards on three carries in his NFL debut Friday night, including a nine-yard run on his first carry in orange and blue. But Kyle Orton threw three interceptions and the Broncos fell to the San Francisco 49ers 16-17 in exhibition play.
Meanwhile, the Broncos’ opponent last night also had a running back taken off the field with a leg injury, but he doesn’t appear to have been as lucky. Florio reports that Niners tailback Thomas Clayton does in fact have an ACL tear.
