Denver Broncos training camp… News and notes from the Sunday afternoon session.
The coaches’ kids joined in the fun, veteran starters enjoyed a light practice, and backups and rookies slapped on the pads as the Broncos embarked on their fifth session of training camp in 2009. Wide receiver Brandon Marshall, who was seen limping off the field in the morning workout, did not participate.
The session began with non-contact special teams work. Nothing much to see here, although it looked like they were working on a sneak play employing Vernon Fox. Later, the defense went through a mental workout as Mike Nolan tested and corrected his crew.
The session ended with an eleven-on-eleven scrimmage with the backups on both sides of the ball. Some vets, like the starting o-line, were allowed to hit the locker room early. Tony Carter nearly picked off Tom Brandstater, and Kenny McKinley had a bobbling, juggling, third-effort catch to finish the practice to the cheers of the crowd.
Not a lot to report from this afternoon; a much-deserved break for our hardworking Broncos. Something tells me tomorrow they’ll be going full speed again.
