Brandon Marshall Will Not Be Suspended

MarshallNews is breaking that the NFL has decided not to suspend Denver Broncos wide receiver Brandon Marshall. Marshall was being investigated for a March 2009 incident between him and his fiancee, where witnesses claim the two were being violent with each other outside their apartment in Atlanta, Georgia. Both were taken into custody, with charges being dropped quickly the next day.

Great news, Broncos fans. With all the OTL-hubbub and contract requests of late, it’s nice to get some good news about #15. Hopefully next year Marshall can even enjoy a TRULY incident-free offseason.

    Moral issues aside, whether you think he should be a Bronco or not. While he remains on the field in a Denver Broncos uniform, this is very very good news.

    another NFL criminal gets away with a crime. what else is new. you would figure after the 3rd or fourth time he has been arrested that he wouldnt be allowed to continue his life, let alone football career, without doing jail time.

    I understand people are passionate about this topic, but really, keep the name calling and childish behavior out. No one is giving Marshall a free pass, but as far as I know, he has not been convicted of anything yet. We have no idea what has happened behind closed doors.

    That said, it is good for the Broncos that he was not suspended because he is a hell of a reciever. I am getting a little tired of hearing his name in a negative light, though. It is time for him to start acting like a man, and not just talking like one.

    See Kerry i wouldn’t dare to lay a hand on a female. BMarsh is on his last straw with me I’ll forgive with this but if any problems of this nature come again then there is no remorse.

    But hey if theres murders in the league(Ray Lewis, Marshawn Lynch, Donte Stallworth), junkies(Shaun Merriman), theifs(Tatum Bell), domestic violence offenders(Brandon Marshall) I guess theres room for people like Mike Vick. I’m just saying.

    Not to break my one-comment-at-BroncoTalk-a-month-guideline, but thanks for the balanced-and-prescient coverage, Ian and company.

    And, from one prognosticator to another, you WERE right.

    I, too, am on my last-straw with Brandon’s record-of-incidents. But he has a new fiancee, is a young man in a high-profile business and has a younger head-coach (who can, presumably, relate better and provide some needed-guidance).

    No, that’s not a crack at the greatest coach in Broncos history (Mike Shanahan).

    Its just my glass-half-full, but possibly naive, hope.

    I have been very disappointed with Brandon Marshal’s failure to learn his lesson. In a perfect world someone who makes millions of dollars for using his skills would be someone to look up to. He, on the other hand, has made himself the poster boy for what is wrong with rookie contracts in this league. I hope he can make a Rod Smith type of turn around. It sure would make my work shop arguments easier.

    The player’s in professional sport’s are prey . . . they almost have to isolate themselves from the outside world in order to achieve the opportunity laid before them . . .

    The young one’s . . . BM for example . . . have not learned this yet . . . but they will . . .

    While I watched the OTL report, I noticed that every time Rasheedah Watley accused BM of abuse, she looked up, down, pretty much everywhere but the camera. Her mother said that the broncos rep called to tell them that there was an incident with their daughter, and apparently they needed to forgive him. When asked what the incident was, she said that he had “abused, or hit her.” The problem is, she seemed to stumble over those words like she was having trouble saying it, and not in an emotionally choked up way.

    I’m not saying that BM is totally innocent of any wrongdoing, it just seemed to me as if it were being grossly exaggerated. As a guy who has had his reputation ruined by a former girlfriend, (I was accused of abuse that never happened, I’ve never even hit a man, also of infidelity) I know that some people will do whatever it takes to take any kind of blame from themselves. If he has the proof to defend himself beyond a reasonable doubt, I see no reason to hold it against him.

    I have had a shitty time trying to defend myself to people who were my friends, across two states after word spread…so I can empathize with Brandon if he is innocent, if he is guilty, Karma is a bitch, and she will reap her revenge!

    To me this seems to be about money. If anything Marshall seems to have anger issues and can be verbally abusive. But come on! The dude is 6’4″ 240lbs. Where were all the pictures of brusing. I think I saw one picture of a supposed stab wound. I’ve gotten bigger wounds from taking a massive shit. Marshall just needs to control his temper and stay away from the hoochies.

    Funny as hell, how ya’ll pass judgement on people just because they’re in the spotlight/rich/successful. Last I saw, BM hasn’t been found guilty of any wrongdoing. I’ve said for 2yrs that Watley is a crazy, scheming, low-life biatch, even IF BM won’t say it.

    Who looked directly into the camera and answered every question succinctly? BM

    Who’s out of the picture for big bucks/nice cars/big house? Watley

    The police responded to numerous calls, some inniciated by him. BM wasn’t arrested countless times. Get your facts straight. If the police knew enough not to arrest him the majority of times they were called then maybe, just maybe she is a crazy bitch…they’re out there, I know first hand.

    The stab wound…she said in her own account that they were arguing and SHE grabbed the knife. Sounds like a crazy butch to me

Maybe even as far as “heroine hero”. Where we disagree is on the broncos, and overall outlook on life outside of our personal lives.

    Who cares, he’s a famous ball player player in the NFL. He can do whatever he wants (sarcasm). I don’t see anyone getting on Rey Lewis’s case and he killed a man. And he is now the staple of Baltimore. Shows how ugly the NFL and fame has become. Shit, O.J. had his blood and gloves at the crime scene and got away scott free. I think the Judicial System has become more of a popularity contest than focusing on morality and evidence. The higher on the totem pole you are the less likely you are to get fucked. I hate it but thats how its always been. I guess I need to start moving up, and quick.

I DONT support woman beating i was raise by my great grand mother, my grand mother, my mom and my aunt and i have two sisters and i would loose it if some one lay a finger on any of them. but i do believe you ask for it when your in an arguement and you bring weapons to the table. I’ve seen my family member in many altercation with there respective husband and they were never abuse nor have they brought a WEAPN to the table.

    The judge dismissed the case. Roger Goodell, a man who has a reputation for having little mercy when passing out punishment to players who violate codes of conduct has decided not to reprimand Brandon. Its over, let it go. Between last years incident with the Mc Donald’s wrapper and this Watley( Fatal Attraction) character, I worry about this guy. Now with the hip surgery and asking for a new contract, I don’t know what to make of him as a person. As a Bronco, he doesn’t give up….wasn’t it like 18 catches his first game back. I love his on field tenacity. I am glad he is on our team. I can only hope that he learns that no peice of tail is worth compromising his future. I think she see dollar signs and realizes that B Marshall is an easy target. I can only hope that Brandon will learnand put in to effect the life lessons that have come his way. All I can say, stuff like this makes me miss and respect Rod Smith that much more. In Rod we trust!
