As The Denver Post’s Mike Klis pointed out this morning, Denver Broncos wide receiver Brandon Marshall is amongst kings:

His salary request is affordable for a receiver who averaged 103 catches and 1,295 receiving yards the past two years. Larry Fitzgerald averages $10 million a year, Randy Moss $9 million, Andre Johnson has an eight-year deal at $7.5 million per and Anquan Boldin is holding out in Arizona trying to get a deal worth at least $9 million per.

Brandon Marshall

Brandon Marshall

However, Klis doesn’t appear to be aware of exactly how much Marshall is asking for, my best guess is somewhere near $5 million for this season, with around five or six years worth of a contract. Okay… And? My early prediction was that Marshall will face little or absolutely no suspension following the announcement of the Buffalo Bills running back Marshawn Lynch‘s suspension. However, NFL Spokesman Greg Aiello says that the matter is, “Still pending.”

The fat lady still hasn’t sung on the suspension and Marshall’s ex-girlfriend is singing to whomever is willing to listen. We’ll have to wait until Sunday when ESPN will air “Outside The Lines” featuring Marshall’s ex-girlfriend Rasheeda Watley‘s interview.

Neither the Broncos or Marshall were willing to participate, but Watley had this to say,

I feel like somebody has to stand up and stop him from doing this because the Broncos haven’t done it, the NFL hasn’t done it, the Atlanta police department hasn’t done it.

Ouch. Hell hath no fury like a woman scorn, but Marshall’s really between a rock and a hard place. As quick as Marshall was able to request a raise on his scheduled $2.2 million due this season, head coach Josh McDaniels may be just as quick to quote another Marshall, straight off the Slim Shady EP

Despite his horrible off-season, Marshall dropped more than a couple of passes during the season and where is he now? Orlando, FL… Rehabbing. So all we can do now is pray (no Mcdonald’s reference from me, but it would fit since there’s a new McRegime in Denver). I’ve referenced it before, but anyone remember the Pro Bowl last season when a combined six passes from Peyton Manning and Jay Cutler in the end zone were not received by big 1-5? Wait, Marshall didn’t sign a new manager did he? Someone certainly seems to be blowing smoke up something…

Three names Marshall; Eddie Royal, Jabar Gaffney and Brandon Stokley. More? Chad Jackson and the very underrated David Grimes. Still confused as to why we picked up Kenny McKinley in the fifth round this season? That’s a whole lot of people that are capable of catching passes, that’s even if the team’s planning on passing at all this season… With that many talented running backs, the jury’s still out on the team doing anything other than running the ball. Here’s the reason that your rookie contract has escalators Brandon- in case you do well! That’s why you’re making $2.2 million instead of $500k plus.

In other news, Tony Scheffler and McDaniels have apparently brushed off their pants and agreed to see eye-to-eye on Scheffler’s position on the team. Good work men.

Am I crazy Nation? It seems like every off-season has become the Marshall show. I’m not ready to turn him over, I honestly don’t think that he’s worth much in a trade. He just needs to understand his place right now. A fan favorite, but I’m getting tired of defending this horses ass. I’ll still draft him in fantasy football though, especially if he ends up in Chicago (haha).

UPDATE: Here’s a short clip from ESPN’s “Outside The Lines” regarding Marshall.

DC spikes is not overated. he’s the real deal best coverage LB and can knock you out.

  • kerry

DC. wow what a profound analysis of Brandon Spikes. damn i guess i believe you. forget that i watched 7 of Florida’s games last year and saw Brandon Spikes knocking the fuck out of opponents and making tackles on anyone who came around him. DC’s word is good enough for me. lol

  • http://ttmt.com T-Money

Just got word from CBS4 that The beast will NOT be suspended!

and Brandon Spikes is a badass

  • DC

The dude is too tall and lankey to play inside in the NFL. He will be a sam in a 4-3. My favorite college team is the Gators, I grew up in florida so I would know. He just doesn’t fit in our system that well but I wouldn’t be upset or pissed if we got him. He is extremely athletic for a lb. He might be able to play LILB. I just don’t see him handling 320 lb guards, who can run, that well.

  • DC

kerry- profound analysis of brandon spikes. You watched 7 entire games of brandon playing. OMG. You should try out to be a college scout or something. Top notch stuff, really. In the words of Team America, ” Suck my #ock kerry.” lol

  • kerry

    DC:

yeah Brandon Spikes is overrated that he is the top ranked MLB in all of college football. i remember another SEC MLB named Patrick Willis who is only 240 pounds (Spikes is 245) who only turned into the defensive rookie of the year and two time pro bowler. but Spikes is too lanky even though he weighs more then Willis. how that for profound analysis? oh and you got those words from Team America huh? well here is some from me “go fuck yourself” and thats without an “LOL” on the end of it.

  • roshon2411

    DC,

ILB aren’t supposed to handle 320 lb guards, that’s what the DL’s for, so the ILB’s are available to tackle the RB’s or get to the QB.

Also, way to criticize kerry on his 7 game analysis, when you state, “My favorite college team is the Gators, I grew up in Florida so I would know.”

Would that mean if your favorite TV show is Scrubs, and you grew up next to a Hospital, you would be a Doctor?

  • DC

Kerry- Patrick Willis plays the RILB, not LILB. He plays the jack, same position DJ is gonna play, so that would make you retarded. Roshon- Guards pull and when they pull they get to the second level of a defense. Do you even watch football roshon?

  • jcampb72

Haha, 2 on 1 I like it. But looks like the 2 are getting schooled.

  • jcampb72

I would agree with you kerry but PW is 6-1 240 and BS is 6-4 245. It sounds like you just like to agrue for the sake of arguing. And roshon, I hope youre not serious.

  • kerry

um clearly you cant read because i said nothing about position but a comparison in size. you say Spikes is too lanky yet Willis is smaller and very effective.

yeah Patrick Willis plays RILB. so what?? my comparison was in size when you said Spikes was too lanky to play, yet is bigger then one of the best inside MLB’s in football. you gonna tell me because you grew up in Florida that Brandon Spikes couldnt possibly play RILB?? yeah ok man. clearly the retard label belongs to you. i couldnt possibly know anything about a Florida player because i didnt grow up there right? PPFFTTTT.

  • kerry

    DC:

oh and here is another thing, Lawrence Taylor was 6-3 237 pounds. but i guess that made him a LB incapable of making an impact right? too lanky right??

  • jcampb72

haha –. You clearly have no idea what your talking about. Being lanky has everything to with height not size. The guy is 6-4 245, if thats not lanky I don’t know what is. Do you honestly think LT could play at that high of a level in todays NFL? If so your sorely mistaken.

  • kerry

yeah i think LT could. he is only one of the top 3 greatest defensive players in history. im sure he would make such an impact. but since we are speculating about players that have been retired for a while now, you think John Elway could make an impact in todays NFL? huh? or how about maybe Walter Payton, or Gale Sayers? Dick Butkus? there is a ton of guys from the past that could make an impact. to think otherwise is just stupidity to say the least.

and you can define lanky however you want, doesnt take away from the fact Brandon Spikes is an awesome LB. much better then Maualuga. isnt that who you had the man love for? or was that someone else?

  • jcampb72

We are being speculative and ignorant. It went too far. But I will say your comparison with Spikes, an unproven college lb, with PW has no validity or similarity at all.

  • kerry

my whole point was to illustrate that saying Brandon Spikes is overrated simply because he is “lanky” is ridiculous. thats how the whole argument began. many great “lanky” players out there. Joe Flacco is Lanky yet the only rookie in NFL history to win 2 playoff games.

  • DC

I don’t know any LB’s who are lanky in the NFL that are studs at the ILB position. But what ever. and…………….GO BRONCOS!!!!!
Kerry, would you go after Ellis? I think we should.

  • kerry

    DC:

i dont know. you sure he isnt too lanky??

me personally i wouldnt. he is 34, probably gonna ask for some coin that we shouldnt pay him. i think we should just stick with who we have. Ellis isnt gonna elevate this team into a contender this year so really no point when our guys can get this year under their belt in preparation for next year.

  • DC

I don’t care if a guy is lanky on the outside. Lanky guys are know for speed not power anyway the guy is 33, he had 8 sacks last year and 12 in 13 games the year before. I think if the price is right it wouldn’t hurt. He could be our sack leader with 8.

  • kerry

but there is no point in signing the guy since we arent gonna be contending. young guys like Ayers can start now and get a year down in the league. sitting behind Ellis will just slow down their progression in the league. id say let Ayers and Crowder start on the outside and let them play. Dumervil wont start because his coverage skills arent good. Moss doesnt even figure in this season. we tried to dump him for a 7th rounder. that should tell you just how much confidence McDaniels has in him.

  • DC

Who says we arent a contender? Think anyone saw the Cardinals, or the Giants from 2 years as contenders? I’m not saying we are, I’m just saying theres 1/32 chance of greatness. We would have to be clicking on all cylinders, Ayers and Doom would have to play great, our D-Line would all have to step up and our Offense would need to put up big numbers. That could happen. And on your post, “Dumervil wont start because his coverage skills arent good” is ridiculous. He has to start, hes the only person on our entire team that is a proven pass rusher. Moss is going to get cut. Crowder is 15 more lbs than doom and you think he can cover people better than Doom? That just doesn’t make sense to me, but whatever. I bet it will be Doom and Reid or Ayers on the outside.
